Apocalypse: Rebirth With An Infinite Storage System
Chapter 176 IT’S THIS BAD?!
Without waiting for an answer, he suddenly slowed the truck before bringing it to a stop at the side of the road.
"Darren?"
Ivy called out in confusion.
Ignoring her question, Darren reached for the first-aid box positioned between his legs. He opened it and began pulling out supplies.
Cotton wool.
A bottle of water.
Dettol.
Spirit.
Plasters.
A small bowl.
He placed everything neatly on the dashboard.
"I’ll treat it when we get back to the base," Ivy replied casually. "My system will heal it completely the moment I wash the blood off."
But instead of listening, Darren gently grabbed her injured leg and carefully rested it across his lap.
The sudden action startled Ivy.
Her eyes widened.
"You really don’t have to....."
"Just stay still," Darren interrupted immediately.
His tone wasn’t harsh, but it left no room for argument.
Ivy blinked in surprise.
For a brief moment, she found herself speechless as Darren carefully adjusted her leg before opening the bottle of water and pouring some into the bowl.
Afterward, he added a suitable amount of Dettol and mixed it gently.
Only then did he begin unwrapping the blood-soaked cloth around her leg.
The cloth peeled away slowly.
As the wound was revealed, Darren froze.
His eyes widened.
"What the fuck?!"
His voice echoed throughout the truck.
"IT’S THIS BAD?!"
Shock was written all over his face.
He stared at the deep gash in disbelief.
"I thought it was just a cut! I thought maybe a nerve got nicked or something!"
He pointed at the injury.
"But this is huge!"
His expression darkened.
"And you wanted to leave this untreated?"
Ivy swallowed hard.
"It’s honestly nothing, Darren."
She glanced nervously through the windshield.
"Monsters could appear at any moment. You literally parked in the middle of the bush."
"It is something."
Darren shot back immediately.
"And you’d better sit still and let me deal with it."
His voice softened slightly.
"This is important, Mrs Ivy."
Seeing that Darren was serious, Ivy couldn’t help but to keep quiet and watch as Darren carefully soaked a piece of cotton wool in the disinfectant mixture before gently cleaning the wound.
The moment the liquid touched the injury, Ivy clenched her teeth.
A sharp sting shot through her leg.
Darren noticed immediately.
"See?"
He frowned.
Ivy fell silent.
Darren continued cleaning the wound with incredible care.
The water gradually turned red from the blood.
When it became too dirty, he discarded it and prepared another batch.
Again and again, he repeated the process until both the wound and the water were completely clean.
Only then did he finally get a proper look at the injury.
"Fuck..."
He murmured under his breath.
His expression was filled with concern.
"This is a really deep cut."
A hint of sadness appeared in his eyes.
Once he was satisfied that the injury was clean, he carefully covered it with a bandage.
A few moments later, he finally leaned back into his seat after he gently placed Ivy leg down.
"There."
A small smile appeared on his face.
"The system can finish healing it while we’re driving back."
Ivy looked down at her leg.
The wound was now properly covered.
"Thank you, Darren."
Her voice was sincere.
Darren simply nodded.
"No problem."
A few seconds later, he restarted the truck and resumed driving toward the base.
The road stretched endlessly ahead of them.
Then suddenly.....
DING!
{Congratulations, Host. You have successfully completed your mission.}
Ivy immediately turned her gaze toward the rear window.
Far behind them, the massive facility had finally begun exploding.
BOOM!
BOOM!!
BOOOOM!!!
Huge explosions erupted throughout the structure.
Fire consumed entire sections of the building.
The deafening roars of dying monsters filled the air.
A satisfied smile appeared on Ivy’s face.
"Oh, nice. Those motherfucking bastards deserved every bit of that."
DING!
{Congratulations, Host. You have unlocked your reward.}
{Reward Granted: Super Electric Butler.}
{Would you like to check it out, Host?}
A grin spread across Ivy’s face.
"Of course I’d love to."
Her excitement was obvious.
"But I’ll only be able to check it properly once I get home afterall."
She leaned back against her seat.
"I seriously can’t wait."
