Earth's Greatest Magus
Chapter 2942: Potential
Using the Khaos domain to lock onto Yuria’s signature, Emery traversed the distance in an instant.
They were inside a small but refined residence. Through the wide balcony opening, Emery could see the vast city stretching endlessly beneath the blue sky.
Golden City.
Streams of golden light moved across the air as enormous flying vessels drifted between towering structures, while smaller golden boats traveled through designated sky routes like flowing rivers suspended above the city.
Standing beside Yuria was a young man dressed in the dark uniform of a Golden City enforcer.
Ha Ron.
The moment Emery saw him, memories surfaced immediately. The young man’s dark hair and sharp facial features reminded him greatly of Chumo, yet the similarities ended there.
Unlike Chumo’s warmth personality, Ha Ron possessed a cold restraint that had clearly been forged through years of hardship. More than two decades serving as an enforcer further sharpened his demeanor considerably, and combined with his Full Moon Magus cultivation, there was almost no trace left of the immature youth Emery once knew.
"Welcome, Master," Ha Ron greeted respectfully while lowering his head.
Yuria quietly retreated into the shadows after that, leaving the two alone.
For a moment, Emery simply observed him.
The last time they had truly spoken was years ago during the wedding, and even then, the gathering had been too chaotic for meaningful conversation.
Before that Ha Ron had been walking his own path, building a life and reputation for himself within Golden City.
And now Emery stood here once more, preparing to pull him back into the orbit of Khaos.
That thought gave him pause.
Ha Ron had spent the last twenty years living freely. Becoming a Khaos seed again would inevitably tie him back to Emery’s affairs, placing responsibilities and dangers upon him that he no longer needed to bear.
Emery was still considering how to approach the matter when Ha Ron suddenly dropped to one knee.
"Senior Yuria has already explained to me," he said without hesitation. "If Master requires it, I am willing to become your blade once more"
The directness of the declaration genuinely surprised Emery.
He could sense there was no reluctance in the young man’s words. Ha Ron was even fully prepared to abandon his current enforcer position and follow him immediately if ordered to do so.
For several seconds, Emery remained silent.
Truthfully, Ha Ron would be extremely useful. A Full Moon Magus with decades of law enforcement experience would greatly strengthen Dawnstar during the current instability, especially with the increasing threat of the scourge.
But in the end, Emery slowly shook his head.
"No."
Ha Ron lifted his gaze slightly, confusion flashing across his otherwise composed expression.
"Returning to Dawnstar now would only limit your future."
Pulling Ha Ron away from all of that just to reinforce his own faction would be selfish.
"I can still guide you through the waypoints," Emery said calmly, "but you should continue tempering yourself"
Instead of pulling Ha Ron back to Dawnstar, Emery gave him a different mission—one that would aid his growth.
"I will do as you wish, Master," Ha Ron replied without hesitation.
With that decision made, Emery proceeded to bestow the Khaos seed upon him.
Once the matter with Ha Ron was settled, Yuria stepped out from the shadows once more and informed Emery about the next Khaos seed candidate within Golden City.
Grand Magus Veyarel.
Unfortunately, the Karat faction elder was still in deep seclusion, focusing on stabilizing his recovery. Since his return from the Leviathan incident, Veyarel had been rebuilding his foundation carefully, and according to Yuria, even the Karat faction had restricted outside contact with him for the time being.
Which meant the matter would have to wait.
Secretly, Emery felt somewhat relieved by that outcome.
Unlike Soltz, Veyarel possessed profound understanding of spatial laws. After witnessing the Khaos domain, Veyarel would almost certainly begin asking questions that Emery himself still could not answer.
The explanation regarding the Primordial Wisp might work on others.
But perhaps not on him.
More importantly, Veyarel’s loyalty ultimately belonged to the Karat faction first and foremost. Although the faction had repeatedly proven itself to be a trustworthy ally, the existence of Khaos was simply too mysterious to reveal recklessly.
Emery himself still did not fully understand what he had inherited, nor the true intentions hidden behind the shattered gates and the shadowed figure he had witnessed.
Even so, part of him remained hopeful.
If there truly was someone capable of helping him unravel the mysteries behind Khaos, Veyarel might very well be one of the few qualified to do so.
After finishing matters within Golden City, Emery turned his attention toward his next destination.
The Magus Academy.
Where his daughter was
Returning briefly to the Khaos domain, Emery approached the stone table once more and directed the shimmering star chart toward the vast blue planet where the Academy floated above endless oceans.
However, when Emery searched for the waypoint signature he had previously established there, his expression slowly changed.
Nothing.
The waypoint was gone.
After several moments, Emery finally understood the reason.
The Academy Hall itself had moved.
Since the artificial waypoint had been anchored to its previous spatial location, the shift had disrupted the connection entirely. The formation would need recalibration before it could function again.
For now, there was nothing he could do.
Unable to establish access to the Academy, Emery instead connected himself to Soltz’s newly established waypoint and returned to Neo Terra Palace once more.
Emery’s sudden arrival beside the old man visibly impressed Soltz.
"Amazing indeed..." Soltz muttered. "The practicality of this Khaos domain is absurd."
Meanwhile, Typhon looked completely filled with curiosity.
At this point, Emery understood that hiding his ability from the man responsible for his safety was unwise.
Because of that, Emery gave him a brief explanation regarding his abilities while they flew toward Dawnstar City, heading for the teleportation gate connected to the Magus Academy.
However, as Emery arrived near the teleportation gate, he saw that riots had already begun breaking out
