My Wife Might Be a Saintess
Chapter 287 - 286: Su Qi’s Backward Glance
At that moment, the gates to the cave dwelling opened automatically. A large crowd had already gathered at the entrance. These people wanted to be the first to enter, but they were also afraid of being the first.
The first person in would have the greatest opportunity, but also face the greatest danger.
When the gates swung fully open, a Tier Three Cultivator charged straight in—fortune favors the bold.
More people streamed in after him, but no one knew if they were safe or in danger.
After that, more and more people poured in. Even if there had been danger, the path should have been mostly cleared by now.
Watching the crowd, Jiang Zuo suddenly wondered aloud, "What was the original owner of this cave dwelling thinking? Why set the gates to open automatically?"
Everyone else was taken aback. Fellow Daoist Po Xiao’s point of interest was rather unique.
Never mind Ximen Chuihuo—even Yongxi had no idea. It had never dared to run away in the past, so how would it have known anything about the layout here?
Just then, a cloud drifted down from the sky. Jiang Zuo instinctively found a large tree and leaned against it, ready to hide at a moment’s notice.
That’s right, it was a Soft Cloud, which meant Su Qi was here.
And if Su Qi was here, Jiang Zuo had to hide. He still shuddered at the thought of her illogical, uncanny intuition.
Just then, Su Qi, Jingyue, and the others leaped down from the cloud. Zi Feng was already waiting for them below.
He looked extremely reluctant. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
But alas, the bond they’d forged by Crossing the Tribulation together was too strong for him to refuse.
The moment she landed, Su Qi asked, "A Fifth-Grade ticket? Isn’t that a little steep?"
"Don’t worry, it’s an official expense," Jingyue said.
Zi Feng, meanwhile, tossed a piece of Jade to Lan Yue.
Lan Yue explained, "We have free passes. Master Mo Yan gave them to us."
Su Qi and Jingyue looked utterly exasperated. So, *this* was the real reason they’d come?
All this just to avoid wasting two Jade Runes, each worth a Fifth-Grade Spirit Stone?
For this, she’d ditched her own sister. What a great big sister she was.
After that, Jingyue went to buy the tickets. Without lingering, the five of them headed for the entrance.
Zi Feng led the way. With his superior Cultivation, he was naturally the best choice for the vanguard.
But just as they reached the entrance, Su Qi suddenly turned and glanced back.
Jingyue asked curiously, "What are you looking at?"
Su Qi glanced around before turning back with a smile. "It’s nothing. I just had a feeling something good might happen if I looked back."
"Let’s go. It shouldn’t be too dangerous inside. Besides, you’re so beautiful—we wouldn’t want someone thinking you were looking at him. What if he becomes infatuated with you?" With that, Jingyue stepped inside first.
She had a sense for mortal danger; if she didn’t feel it, she probably wasn’t going to die.
If her sense wasn’t working, well, that would just be her bad luck.
Su Qi just smiled and followed her inside.
’It’s not like she was actually looking for anyone.’
Her glance was casual, but the one she’d glanced toward was filled with a bone-deep chill.
Jiang Zuo stood frozen. He had been watching Su Qi, and the instant she turned her head, his heart hammered in his chest.
If Jiang Zuo hadn’t kept his composure, he would have thought he’d been found out.
Thankfully, her gaze didn’t linger on him; it was unfocused, really.
She had just happened to turn her head.
And yet, he was still worried.
’Su Qi’s sixth sense seems to be getting more and more terrifying.’
Especially where he was concerned.
"Fellow Daoist, should we go in now?" Ximen Chuihuo asked.
By now, almost everyone had gone inside. The ones who remained were those who had no intention of entering, likely planning to wait and see who would emerge with the greatest fortunes.
Seeing that most people were in, Jiang Zuo said, "Let’s go."
Ximen Chuihuo said, "I’ll go buy the tickets, then. We only managed to get so much Yongxi Flesh thanks to you, Fellow Daoist."
Anyone from the group would have known better than to say something so foolish.
But these people had no real concept of who Boss Po Xiao was, so they still intended to buy tickets.
Jiang Zuo asked, "Why buy tickets? Can’t we just go straight in?"
Yongxi immediately clarified its stance. "I can’t help you in my current state, Po Xiao. You can’t rely on me."
Jiang Zuo paid them no mind and walked straight toward the gate. "Let’s go," he said as he went.
Though confused, the others still followed him.
Bringing up the rear, Ximen Linglong asked in astonishment, "Do you think this Po Xiao is about to fall flat on his face?"
Ximen Chuihuo shook his head. "Let’s just wait and see. If worse comes to worst, we can still buy tickets."
Yongxi, too, was curious. This person was surprisingly arrogant.
Then it thought for a moment and suddenly realized that this animal, Jiang, had *always* been this arrogant.
Soon, Jiang Zuo reached the main gate. A Demon Cultivator smiled at them and said, "Fellow Daoists, the Spirit Beast counts as a head, too."
Jiang Zuo ignored him, instead turning to Yongxi. "You’re coming in with me."
After Yongxi trudged miserably to his side, Jiang Zuo added, turning to Ximen Chuihuo, "Keep up and you’ll get in. If you fall behind, you can buy your own tickets."
The Demon Cultivator, already annoyed at being ignored by Jiang Zuo, became even more derisive when he heard Jiang Zuo’s plan to just walk in. He sneered, "Ignorant junior! This is—"
But before he could finish, Jiang Zuo had already walked inside, taking Yongxi with him, as if the barrier wasn’t even there.
The Demon Cultivator froze, dumbfounded.
Ximen Chuihuo and his companions were also stunned for a moment. But Ximen Chuihuo lived up to his reputation as a man who hunted Spirit Beasts with his quick reflexes.
He snapped out of it instantly, grabbed Ximen Linglong, and started moving. "Keep up, everyone!"
Li Ya and Zhong Yiyang were also decisive, following without hesitation.
When they touched the Restriction on the gate, it felt as if it were merely an illusion.
The other onlookers snapped to their senses as well, and the bolder ones tried to rush in after them.
The Tier Six Demon Cultivator’s brow furrowed. He had been about to stop them, but all those who touched the Restriction were sent flying.
Some even coughed up blood.
Seeing this, the Demon Cultivator who had tried to mock Jiang Zuo felt a cold shiver.
He suddenly realized he could barely remember what the man looked like. He hadn’t even checked his Cultivation. But anyone who could walk through so easily was clearly no ordinary person.
’If that man had decided to teach me a lesson, I would have...’
Sensing the Demon Cultivator’s anxiety, the Tier Six Demon Cultivator said, "Don’t worry too much. He’s still below Tier Six."
Hearing this, the Demon Cultivator breathed a sigh of relief. He’d almost forgotten that only those below Tier Six could enter.
The first Demon Cultivator relaxed, but the Tier Six Demon Cultivator frowned. He hadn’t been paying close attention, so he didn’t know who had led the group.
But this person was clearly no simple character. After all, not even he could have broken through the Restriction so directly.
This person was a major wild card, one who could very well ruin all their preparations.
The Demon Cultivators were no slouches, either. There was a reason they were letting so many people inside; they had their own agenda.
Collecting entrance fees was, of course, not their main goal. That was just a little side hustle.
He then looked toward the peak of the mountain range, where several Daoists were clashing. The sudden arrival of a new Daoist was a matter of great concern to them.
Especially since this was no ordinary Daoist.
’I hope there won’t be any problems inside.’
