Chapter 139: 084 Particle Transmission [Available at 0 o’clock]

Yang Ming was almost mistaken for an assassin.

He hadn’t even managed to step out of the palace gates before two rows of mechanical soldiers rushed over, each laser gun aimed at Yang Ming’s head.

Fortunately, the Old Emperor was not in any real danger.

The Old Emperor had already returned to normal by the time the royal medical team arrived, calmly waving off these nervous carbon-based life forms and letting out a gentle breath.

He sat on a couch in the corner, watching Yang Ming, who was held at the palace gate, with a hint of suspicion in his eyes.

“Let him go,”

the Old Emperor said softly.

The mechanical soldiers retreated, and Yang Ming looked toward the Old Emperor with concern.

“Your Majesty, what happened to you?”

“Come here, Captain,” the Old Emperor softly beckoned.

Yang Ming stepped forward immediately without any hesitation, walking up the steps to stand in front of the Old Emperor under his gaze and everyone’s watchful eyes.

The Old Emperor reached out and grabbed Yang Ming’s wrist.

There was nothing unusual.

Yang Ming’s expression showed a bit of confusion, and the maids around them were equally puzzled.

“Oh, maybe I’m really getting old,” the Old Emperor murmured, “Go call Dana over… It’s nothing, Captain. Today’s pleasant chat took up most of my strength. Sigh, it seems I can’t afford to let my emotions fluctuate too much.”

Yang Ming said solemnly, “Your Majesty, you must take care of your health and rest well.”

The Old Emperor suddenly asked, “Why? What good is it for you that I am alive? You’re supposed to support Edwan.”

Yang Ming said seriously,

“Both I and the citizens of this country hope you live a long and peaceful life; that way, we can have a stable political situation, a stable economic environment, a stable social order…”

“Enough, there’s no need for such superficial flattery!”

the Old Emperor said impatiently with a wave of his hand.

“Letting you answer such questions really puts you in a difficult spot. But Captain, you need to understand one thing.”

“Yes,” Yang Ming lowered his head and accepted the order.

“This is not the stage for you to realize your ambitions. This is just a decaying Empire with no vitality. If you truly have ambition, you should cast your eyes on the giant behind the Wind; that is the center of power in the Galaxy.”

The Old Emperor’s gaze became somewhat piercing.

Yang Ming pondered for a moment, then slowly said, “Your Majesty, life is finite. While long-term goals are undoubtedly essential, we must also cherish the life we have now. I quite like the living atmosphere here.”

“Go back!”

the Old Emperor said somewhat irritably.

Yang Ming lowered his head and retreated, strolling away under the Old Emperor’s watchful eyes.

In the corridor, Yang Ming crossed paths with Princess Dana.

The princess was in a hurry and paid no heed to Yang Ming’s courteous greeting as she rushed towards where the Old Emperor was.

Before long, all the attendants were driven out of the bedchamber.

Yang Ming felt that Princess Dana might summon him later or have Emilia pass on the message that he should avoid mentioning keywords like “freedom” or “shackles” when chatting with His Majesty in the future.

These matters were uncertain, though.

What Yang Ming could be sure of was that as long as Lyu didn’t show up, the Old Emperor wouldn’t sense Lyu’s presence a second time.

Single dressing room, sound of water running, and activation of the shielding device.

“Boss! Whew! That scared me to death!”

“Hmm?” Yang Ming asked puzzled, “Did things not go smoothly?”

“Quite smoothly,” Lyu replied, “I implanted an untraceable thought virus into the Old Emperor, a virtual logic operational chain based on concept-thoughts. Princess Dana should be able to repair the code but won’t be able to extinguish the flame in this Intelligent Machine’s heart that’s already been ignited. However, Boss, aren’t you worried that the Old Emperor might become a genuine Intelligent Mechanical Crisis? This thought body created by someone is very likely to develop a rebellious attitude towards its creator.”

Yang Ming smiled, “Then what are you afraid of?”

Lyu hurriedly muttered, “It’s your uncle’s side. They almost ran into pirates right after their warp jump. Fortunately, there was a merchant ship nearby, and those pirates ended up troubling the merchant ship.”

“Pirates?” Yang Ming asked, puzzled, “What’s there to be scared of?”

“The leader of that group of pirates is Mimili,” Lyu snorted, “I can guarantee that Kolev will throw our plan to the back of his mind and try to play the warm dad chasing after his daughter.”

Yang Ming’s mind immediately conjured up the image of that charming star widow.

“Spacecraft is designated orbit warp…distance is limited… Is she really in the nearby Star Domain? Could it be fate?”

Yang Ming clicked his tongue softly.

“Fate?” Lyu snorted, “I suspect that old sly Kolev has tampered with the low-grade intelligent assistant beside Mimili.”

Yang Ming frowned, “Low-grade intelligent assistant, that’s not a very nice term. Strictly speaking, Molly is like your own elder sister; you should treat her with some respect.”

Lyu immediately changed the subject:

“Boss, I’ve searched for irregularities over the last few days and did find evidence of New Federation Agent activities.

“Also, a batch of low-firepower anti-ship weapons has disappeared from the military. The Minister of Defense has suppressed the matter, suspecting they were funneled to New Federation Agents as reinforcement.

“They are conspiring to expand the battle with a new campaign on the Fifth Administrative Star. If the military continues to do nothing, the Wind royal family, which has just garnered support from the Sherman Empire, is likely to take some radical measures, like forcibly reclaiming part of the military power.”

Yang Ming’s eyes flickered slightly.

“My opportunity?”
