Chapter 118: Chapter 118 Rumor Has It.

In the following moments, Alistair quickly switched the channel off.

"How did this happen?" Owen questioned, turning towards his manager with a gaze that spelt ’is this one of the agency’s stunt for publicity?’

"How did this happen?" Alistair Parroted. "You weren’t careful, Owen, that’s how this happened."

"Stop it," Leonica interrupted. "Let’s not point fingers here." She glanced between the two males present, making sure they were listening and abiding to her words.

One nod from each of them was all it took to let her know they were doing just that.

"Good," She continued. "Right now, asking questions won’t help, so instead of that, how about we find a solution to the problem."

"Your face is going to be all over the news with some false scandal, what solution can we find for that?" Owen questioned, his voice a bit annoyed and Leonica could tell it was because of the stress he was sudden put under, coupled with the lingering effects of the fever.

"Well," Leonica started, turning away from them both and strolling into Owen’s kitchen. Their eyes followed her, watching as she opened the fridge and pulled out the porridge. "We already have a plan in motion. The documents were completed two days ago and the new sector of the company is up and running. Now all we need Owen to do is dissolve his contract with SG entertain and sign one with Romero Empire. That way, we could easily prove that it’s not a scandal, but just a normal occurrence." She explained.

“I guess that is the best solution we have.” Owen sighed, running a hand through his hair.

“And if that’s the case, Kennedy and have him prepare the contract immediately.” She said and turned to Alistair who had been silent. “You okay with that?”

“Do I have a choice?” He heaved a sigh. “If I don’t want to face consequences for allowing an Idol ruin his image with so many scandals in one month, then yes, I guess I’ll have to agree.”

“Good,” Leonica smiled and began to warm the porridge.

“Is that all were going to do?” Owen questioned, looking straight at Leonica. When she cocked a brow, tilting her head on the process, he added in. “What of when things get serious between us?”

Alistair choked on his saliva at the question, turning to face Leonica with wide eyes. “What did you just say?”

Owen blatantly ignored him, his entire attention on Leonica and hers on him.

“Owen, I didn’t make an promises.” She informed.

“I know, but you gave me a chance and that’s all I’ll ever need. I’m confident that I can win over your heart, so I want to plan ahead and avoid future mishaps.” He stated.

Leonica sighed, shaking her head. “You’re not a kid anymore, Owen, so stop acting like one.” She warned, but he wasn’t convinced by her words.

His gaze became even more serious. “Answer my question, please.”

She knew he wasn’t going to drop it, not now. With a sigh, she said, “We’ll cross the bridge when we get there, Owen. I’m not denying the fact that the a chance of a relationship occurring is not zero, but right now, the issue is the scandal, not a future relationship, okay?”

“Okay,” He agreed and the corners of his lips curved upwards in a small smile at the thought that once again, she hadn’t rejected the idea of a relationship between them. “For the record, that’s a yes, right?”

Leonica shook her head at his childishness. From behind him, Alistair sighed and shook his head. Honestly, he didn’t know how else to spell it out to Owen that Idols weren’t allowed for date unless their agency allowed it.

But then again, there was a high possibility that the moment Owen’s contract was signed by the two heads, his love life would no longer be an issue, at least that’s what he hoped.

Gabriel sat in his office, gliding through the long due work on his desk with a permanent frown marred on his face.

Ever since he had officially returned to the office early today, his secretary has been bringing in more and more paperwork that he had been neglecting while he was gone, recovering.

He’d had a hard time sorting through everything, but, he didn’t really mind, the work kept him distracted from other things.

Things like thoughts about Leonica and what she had told him. But even that method only lasted for a few hours at tops before all the thoughts came flooding back into his head.

With a sigh, he dropped his pen and leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes.

Psycho ex Fiancée. His behavior in the past and how he had treated Leonica, using his hands to ruin something he was sure he would have cherished, whichever of the three it was, he wasn’t sure which bothered him the most.

All he knew was that it did, and now, whenever he thought of the past, a feeling of disgust, hate, and self pity rose inside of him.

“Ugh.” He groaned and leaned forward, dropping his head on the pile of papers in front of him.

Just who did he become? And how did he became such a horrible person?

He stayed in that position for a few minutes, and when the silence became a bit too much, there was a silent knock on the door.

He raised his head slightly to stare at the door and called out. “Come in.”

The door opened and Bill stepped in, shutting it behind him and then bowed. When Gabriel was it was his assistant, he groaned, clearly not in the mood for entertain more paper work.

“What is it, Bill?”

“Sir, there’s something I think you need to see.” Bill said and in one swift movement, he was beside his employer, showing him the video on his tablet.

Gabriel stared at the screen and felt his blood run cold.

Leonica’s face, plastered all over the television screen.

“Rumor has it, that 26 year old Owen Lee, rising star of the decade, is involved Inna romantic relationship with 27 year old Leonica Romero, formally known as the president of Norway’s business chambers.”

Gabriel’s jaw tightened as he felt a surge of bitterness waft over him. He didn’t try to surprise the feeling and continued watching the video.

“Sources say the two were seen together multiple times, the last being when the two shared a hug outside the restaurant.”

It was then that Gabriel realized the video was showing Leonica and Owen hugging at the restaurant and at this point, he couldn’t prevent his gaze from darkening.

He pushed the device away and glanced at Bill, the lighting in the room making it seem as if he was glaring at the assistant, when he in fact, was.

“And why did you think I needed to see this, Bill?”

Bill’s throat ran dry and he swallowed, but didn’t back down. “Because you asked me to report anything about the President to you, Sir. Before.” He added the last sentence when confusion took over Gabriel’s face.

“Well, that was the past. I don’t need you monitoring Leonica like she’s some test subject.” Gabriel shoot, his voice a bit harsh. “Now, get out and get back to work.”

“Pardon?” Bill blinked his eyes, shocked for a few seconds when Gabriel’s words has reminded him if the exact way he spoke before his amnesia.

“I didn’t stutter.” Gabriel growled. “Leave, I have work to do.”

“Yes, Sir.” Bill quickly nodded his head and scurried out of the room.

Gabriel sighed once he was gone and closed his eyes and despite how hard he tried not to think of what Bill had showed him, his mind always found it’s way back to the familiar situation.

Familiar? He thought, trying to rack his brain to think if something like this had happened. When he came up with nothing, he slammed his fist down, cursing his damn memory.

But the pain in his fist was dull compared to the sudden migraine that washed over him and he groaned, clutching his head.

A sudden scene flashed through his mind. A scene of Leonidas looking down at him from above. She looked frantic, worries even and her hair and clothes both looked soaked in water, and her lips moved, yet no words came out.

Gabriel couldn’t hear a single thing she was saying and as he watched her lips move, his gaze focused on hair, which he noticed was oddly golden compared to the color of white that now adorned her head.

His lips moved, saying something, but once again, no words came out. Slowly, and very gently, he allowed his eyes roam the area, quickly noticing that they were near a lakeside...

The very same lakeside he had gone for a walk in and later ended up inside the lake.

The realization of that, brought about another memory. After the scene switched, Angelina was now the one on top of him, staring down at him with less drenched hair and cloth than Leonica.

In fact, now that he looked at it, things were perfectly clear that she had just spilling a couple of pales over herself, missing a few spots on her dress.

Just like with Leonica, her lips moved, except this time around, he heard her words.

“Gabriel, you’re finally awake!”

Hearing her voice for the first time with those exact words, triggered another memory and Gabriel allowed it play out in surprise, watching as said girl walked out of a bathroom, towel wrapped around her chest before she smiled shyly at him.

“Gabriel, you’re finally awake!”

The rest of the memory or dream or whatever it was ended, he was left dazed and confused.

And the only words of realization that could escape his lips was a breathless, “Oh.”

Owen stared at Leonica’s retreating form as she entered the elevator, leaving his penthouse.

He had insisted that she stay, but Leonica was stubborn and had insisted that she had to go home to check on Ashley.

Of course, he was a bit sad to see her leave, especially since he couldn’t accompany her and ensure that no harm would befall her.

With a sigh, he shut the door, a frown on his face, but, the sound of Alistair’s voice pulled him back to reality.

“You do realize that your little crush isn’t going to help you, right?” He said.

Owen didn’t turn around and responded with. “What are you talking about?”

“Don’t act like you’re deaf, Owen, it’s unbecoming of you.” Alistair shook his head, not believing his Idols naiveté. “You know very well that Idols are prohibited from entering any romantic relationships.”

“I do,” Owen admitted and turned around. “But I’m willing to take the risk.”

“And why is that?” Alistair quirked a brow, wanting to know just what was so special about the woman that had his idol willing to risk his career.

Owen didn’t need to think to find the answer to that question, but he still did, remembering all the things she had done for him while he was in high school and she in her first year of college. How she had comforted him more than he had done so when Melvin, someone he considered a senior brother, passed away. How she had given him the most useful advice on romance when he asked, pretending like the person he wanted to confess to wasn’t already in front of him. And lastly, how she looked at him, different from the way every other person did.

“Because she’s the one person I never want to lose.” He finally answered, a soft look on his face, a rare expression for the Idol to show.

“Owen,” Alistair started, but he interrupted.

“I’ll talk with you later, Alistair.” He said and turned away, walking towards his room.

“Where are you going Owen?” Alistair called out.

The Idol stopped just before he entered his room and looked above his shoulder. “To have a serious phone call with the only person who can really fix this.”
