Chapter 218: Chapter 218 Special Chapter: #4

Standing in front of the mirror, Anastasia sighed, a frown etched onto her face as she checked herself. For a second, she debated whether or not she could pull off the outfit she was wearing.

Her usual dress code, always having had the mindset of a lawyer and boss woman, was a simple jumpsuit or trousers and a blouse. But tonight, she had decided to switch things up.

Tonight, she was wearing a knee length, skin tight dress, a dress that was cut at the front, revealing the bare skin of her thigh. Her hair, usually held up in a messy bun, was free flowing down her back, her lips a deep shade of red and her eyelashes long and luscious.

As she stood there, checking herself, her mind began running wild.

Why had she agreed to a date with Lloyd? What the fuck was she thinking?

She shook her head, this for sure, was going to turn out to be chaos.

Being ripped away from her thought by the sound of her door bell ringing, Anastasia decided to lock up her worries in the back of her mind and approached the tablet mounted on the wall beside her door. She clicked the camera option and immediately saw Lloyd, dressed in a casual yet classy, attire.

He waved casually and she felt herself cringe, certain that she was going to regret giving Lloyd a chance.

Dear Fear, you caused this.

Stepping away from the tablet, she unlocked her door and pulled it open, coming face to face with Lloyd who did not waste time in checking out both she and her outfit.

“Damn.” Was all he said, and she couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

“Can you please act your age, or at least, your maturity level?”

He smiled at her words. “Alright. You look amazing, Anastasia.” He complemented, offering her his hand, and Anastasia found herself accepting.

“Thank you.” She said, walking beside him, feeling her heart flutter at his words.

“So, shall we head out?”

Anastasia looked up and saw the grin on his face. It was charming, and she couldn’t help but smile, the thought of her regretting this, vanishing.

That was until they arrived at the said place he had picked for their very first date.

A night club.

And not just any, but a fucking strip club.

Anastasia could have laughed, if it wasn’t so ridiculous.

“You’ve got to be kidding me.” She said, giving Lloyd an annoyed look.

He was smiling. Smiling!

“What? Don’t you like this kind of music?” He asked, leading her by the arm into the club.

“I like music,” Anastasia admitted, “just not this one played at a fucking strip club on my first date with my supposed admirer.” She gave him a pointed stare. “Did you honestly think this true?”

His silence was answer enough, and it had Anastasia shaking her head. “I should have known.”

She mumbled, but Lloyd had heard. He sighed and turned to face her. “Don’t judge a book by its cover, Anastasia. You don’t know what you might be missing.” He said.

Anastasia looked skeptical, but eventually, she agreed. freeweɓnøvel.com

And Lloyd, he couldn’t stop smiling.

He led her into the club, the music was loud and the scent of alcohol and overused body perfume was heavy in the air. Anastasia grimaced, her face scrunched up at the smell.

“Don’t tell me you’ve never been to a club before.” Lloyd shouted over the loud music.

She shrugged, eyes moving from side to side. “Maybe.” She answered, watching as the crowd gathered on the dance floor cheered, moving along to the music, dancing.

It looked fun, she had to admit.

“Well then, this is a new experience.” Lloyd said and pulled her close, close enough so that he could whisper in her ear. “I’m glad I could be your first.”

As he pulled away, their eyes locked and the intensity in Lloyd’s eyes was enough to make Anastasia’s stomach drop and her heart race. She felt the urge to move away, but Lloyd’s hold on her waist was firm, almost like he knew what she was about to do and had taken it upon himself to prevent her.

“Shall we get something to drink?” He said and without waiting for her answer, began pulling her towards the bar.

Once they were seated, Anastasia found herself relaxing a little bit, the loud music having gotten on her nerves.

“What do you usually drink?” Lloyd asked, leaning closer so that he didn’t have to shout over the loud music.

Anastasia looked down at the bar’s menu. “I don’t really drink, so whatever is fine.” She said, closing the menu and pushing it away.

Lloyd smirked. She didn’t usually drink? Wasn’t she more innocent than he thought.

“Then I guess I’ll have the honor of choosing your drink.”

Anastasia smiled, rolling her eyes playfully at him. “Whatever suits you.”

He smiled and called the bartender over, giving him his order. Once the man walked off, Lloyd turned back to Anastasia, eyes roaming her face.

“When are you going to say it?” He asked.

“Say what? That you picked the wrong place for our first date and have potentially ruined any other chance with me? Because that’s what I’ve been thinking about the moment we entered.” She said, crossing her arms over her chest, her eyes narrowed as she gave him a challenging look.

Lloyd didn’t seem surprised, nor did he looked bothered.

“You’re right, I should have picked a better place, but I wanted to stand out,” He turned to the bartender, collecting their drinks. “I’m sure many of your ex’s took you to restaurants and stuff, so I didn’t want to be just another boring suitor.” He explained and turned, sliding the drink towards Anastasia. “Besides, this is the only place I know that sells good whiskey, and that is the best whiskey you’ll ever taste in your entire life, so, enjoy.”

He raised his glass and waited, watching as after a few seconds of thinking his words and indeed seeming impressed with his sense of reasoning, she picked hers and did the same. "Cheers?"

“Cheers.” She agreed, bringing the glass to her lips and taking a sip from it.

Lloyd watched her reaction carefully, and as expected, her eyes lit up and a smile formed on her lips.

The whiskey was indeed the best.

“Told you.” He said, drinking from his glass, a satisfied smile on his face.

They sat there, drinking and talking, and somehow, Lloyd had managed to have her relax. And as time passed, the music and the smell of alcohol didn’t seem as annoying, and the crowd of drunk, partying people didn’t bother her anymore.

They were having a great time, and if someone had told her a week ago, she’d be sitting in a strip club, laughing and chatting with Lloyd Riley, she’d have sent them straight to the asylum.

“And then Leonica tripped.” Anastasia said, finishing her story about she and Leonica back in their college days.

“I can’t believe she actually did that.” Lloyd said and chuckled, finding it hard to believe that the woman that was all bossy and making his friend act like a lovesick puppy, could actually trip on her own foot and go face first into a birthday cake.

“Believe it or not.” Anastasia said as she stood up, excusing herself as she stood up to visit the restroom.

As she washed her hands, done with her business, two girls walked in, talking amongst themselves.

“I can’t believe Riley has the guts to show up here after the stunts he’s pulled.”

Anastasia’s ears perked up at the sound of Lloyd’s name.

“I know. Like, who does he think he is?” The other female added, shaking her head. “First, he has us believing he’s into one person, and then suddenly, he’s hooking up with a bunch of women. He’s the worst."

Anastasia blinked her eyes, trying not to feel disappointed, but it was no use. It was clear now that no matter how nice and gentlemanly he acted, Lloyd was a player.

And from her past experience, she wasn’t going to open her heart to a player.

Not that she had any plans of. Today was going to be the last date she’d ever have with Lloyd.

With a sigh, she walked out, making her way towards the table they had been occupying. She could see him from where she was, and the thought of what the ladies had said still fresh in her mind, making her grit her teeth.

His reputation angered her and even though she didn’t know the reason why, she wasn’t going to let it pass.

“Lloyd Riley,” she mumbled, making her decision as she walked back to their table. “I’ll make this a night for you to remember.”
