After Divorce: Why My Aloof Ex Starts Chasing Me?-Chapter 35 Intentional Torture
Chapter 35: Chapter 35 Intentional Torture
Zhou Xiaomei and her husband arrived early.
Not seeing Jiang Zhixun, both of them thought simultaneously.
This man is hopeless.
One day, he’ll regret it deeply!
They didn’t mention Jiang Zhixun, instead placing the food on the table, "Miss Shen, you didn’t eat much at home earlier. You might get hungry tonight, so keep this as a late-night snack."
Seeing the jar of brown sugar honey wine egg soup, Shen Qingqing was amused and exasperated.
Let’s not even mention the thick color of the brown sugar; clearly, a lot was added.
Just those two eggs alone, she couldn’t finish them.
And with the honey wine, there’s so much that it might take two people to finish.
"It’s all separate issues, I haven’t taken it to heart."
Zhou Xiaomei laughed, "You may not have taken it to heart, and that’s your generosity, but Xiao Mian giving you trouble is a fact."
Lin Zhidong said, "Miss Shen, I apologize on behalf of my little sister. There’s no need to forgive her. If she starts spouting nonsense again, just scold her back. Xiaomei and I won’t mind."
Zhou Xiaomei nodded repeatedly, "That girl’s mouth is fierce. People from the compound avoid her to stay out of trouble. If you manage to scold her awake, Zhidong and I will thank you."
Shen Qingqing is clear about love and hatred.
Zhou Xiaomei and her husband were willing to associate with her and sincerely, she wouldn’t take out her anger on them.
She raised the can, "After eating this, I’ll have to translate a few extra pages of the manuscript tonight."
This meant she was completely over it, and the couple relaxed.
Xiao Bao was still fussing to play with Shen Qingqing, afraid to bother her work, Zhou Xiaomei and her husband didn’t plan to stay long.
"Next time, when there’s an opportunity, let’s eat at the cafeteria together." Zhou Xiaomei said.
Having gone through this incident, she didn’t dare to invite Shen Qingqing to eat at home again.
Unless... the little sister-in-law is sent back to her hometown.
Otherwise, if there’s another embarrassment, she’ll truly be unable to show her face in front of Miss Shen.
"We’re leaving, eat the egg soup while it’s hot."
Shen Qingqing nodded, "I’ll eat it while I work later."
"Alright."
At the doorway, Zhou Xiaomei waved her hand, "No need to see us off, you should go back quickly."
Xiao Bao waved goodbye as well, a bit confused, to Shen Qingqing.
Shen Qingqing truly found him adorable.
She grabbed a handful of candy and let Xiao Bao embrace it with his short, chubby arms.
Zhou Xiaomei was worried the candy would drop, instinctively pressing her son’s hand to keep him from moving.
Realizing what she had done, her face flushed with embarrassment.
"Miss Shen, you’ve spent again."
Shen Qingqing shook her head, "Just a few candies, it’s nothing."
Lin Zhidong took the candy and put it in his son’s coat pocket.
Xiao Bao thought the candy was confiscated and was about to cry.
To avoid disturbing people staying at the guesthouse, Zhou Xiaomei waved again, "We’re really leaving now."
"Then I won’t see you out."
"No need, close the door well, and if anything comes up, contact the fellow at the front desk."
Watching them leave as a family of three.
Shen Qingqing then closed the door.
She took out her notebook and skimmed through it, jotting a few notes.
It was already late, so she hadn’t had the chance to call Beijing; she needed to contact Shi Yu first thing in the morning after waking up.
Then she’d go to the leader’s house and talk about the divorce issue.
She didn’t want to make a big scene, hoping to divorce quietly, but Jiang Zhixun wasn’t cooperating, so there was no other way.
Chen Shaojie, without any ties, knew to comfort her when she was feeling aggrieved.
On the other hand, Jiang Zhixun...
He stayed with Lin Family, providing Lin Zhidong and his wife some dignity, and she had no objection.
But then he went to the cafeteria and left without a word.
What was he trying to mean?
Shen Qingqing felt exhausted and really didn’t want to continue entangling with Jiang Zhixun.
Anyway, he wasn’t concerned about her feelings.
So why should she care about his future?
Kneading her temples, she forced herself to drive away all troubling people and things from her mind.
She twisted open the can lid and took a few sips of the brown sugar honey wine egg soup without second thoughts.
The alcohol flavor was overpowering, and Shen Qingqing furrowed her brows.
Before figuring out what was happening, there was a sudden knock on the door.
Thinking Zhou Xiaomei and her family had returned, Shen Qingqing quickly got up.
"Hold on."
Getting up too quickly, Shen Qingqing felt dizzy, almost falling if she hadn’t grabbed the table corner.
Suddenly, the steaming heat rushed up.
Her head was somewhat dizzy.
Shen Qingqing felt puzzled; she’d had honey wine egg soup before, but never such a strong reaction.
"Knock knock knock..."
The knocking sounded again.
No time to think further, Shen Qingqing opened the door.
Standing there was Jiang Zhixun, looking very tense, with every muscle taut.
His heart was pounding as if it were about to leap out of his throat.
Cursing himself for being useless.
He was twenty-eight years old, though he hadn’t done that sort of thing, he had learned some theory.
He knew what needed to be done to achieve it.
Hearing footsteps from inside, Jiang Zhixun grew even more nervous.
That question popped up again.
Should he straightforwardly tell Shen Qingqing he agreed to have a child with her, then get to work?
Or should he spend some time with her first, doing something else?
After all, it was still early, and the day hadn’t completely darkened.
Such matters seemed better done at night.
If Shen Qingqing misunderstood, thinking he was in a hurry—that would be impossible to explain even if he jumped into a river.
Before Jiang Zhixun could figure it out, the door was opened from inside.
"What do you want to see me about?"
Without thinking, Jiang Zhixun blurted this out.
After speaking, a look of regret flashed in his eyes.
His jaw was tightly clenched, and his tone was cold, seeming unhappy.
Shen Qingqing wanted him to leave, to wait until she felt better to discuss things.
But her head grew dizzier and she lost her balance.
Suddenly falling, Jiang Zhixun jumped in shock, quickly catching her.
The indifference on his face was replaced by worry, "Where do you feel ill?"
Saying this, he intended to take Shen Qingqing to the hospital.
With her last bit of composure, she stopped Jiang Zhixun, "I’m fine."
Jiang Zhixun smelled alcohol.
His steps paused, expression turning strange, "Were you drinking?"
Shen Qingqing nodded then shook her head.
She didn’t quite know if it counted as drinking, but her head was dizzy now, and her face felt hot.
"Dizzy..."
Her voice was soft and sweet, lacking her previous chill, with a bit of innocence.
Jiang Zhixun gritted his teeth, "This is ridiculous!"
Holding her, he quickly returned to the room.
If he hadn’t come, what would have happened to her alone?
Shen Qingqing felt wronged, "I didn’t mean to."
Meeting her water-filled eyes, Jiang Zhixun suddenly softened.
Perhaps it’s for the best, saving them both from awkwardness.
He locked the door from the inside, hastily carrying Shen Qingqing to the bed.
Laying her on the bed.
His eyes glanced at the table’s honey wine egg soup, and he understood why she was drunk.
Looking again at her, already asleep, head on the pillow, he felt amused.
"If you get this drunk so easily, what would happen if you had real wine?"
No one responded to him.
Jiang Zhixun sighed, determination finally set; it seemed he had to wait a little longer.
He pinched Shen Qingqing’s face, "Did you come just to torment me?"
