After Going Viral on a Dating Show, I'm Pampered by All-Chapter 249: Sang Zheng: How Can I Help You
Chapter 249: Chapter 249: Sang Zheng: How Can I Help You
"Mr. Si, do you need me to have someone fire her or something?" the assistant asked quietly.
He had never expected there to be such a problem on the eighth floor, especially since no one had reported it to him before.
"Don’t bother, just assign another manager to the eighth floor. If she reoffends, have someone send an anonymous report to the new manager. If the accusations are found to be true, then proceed with the termination."
At first, when Si Chenli heard that the manager was bullying the young girl, his initial reaction was to angrily fire her to defend the girl’s honor.
But since the girl said it wouldn’t happen again, he decided to give her a first chance.
"Yes, I’ll get right on it," the assistant respectfully withdrew, knowing this was a tricky situation.
Anyone who would accept anonymous reports had to be of higher rank and ability than the current manager on the eighth floor.
Si Chenli opened the door and returned to his office, only to see the young girl obediently sitting in the office chair waiting for him.
"Am I your ’boy toy’?"
"Or your department boss?"
"Are you busy trying to flirt with me?"
Sang Qiao, hearing the three consecutive questions by her ear, played dumb and blinked.
"Who flirts like you, hmm? Sitting there motionless, not making a single move," Si Chenli said, his eyes half-lidded as he gazed intently at her.
"I signed the documents for you," Sang Qiao said earnestly, trying to correct his impression of her being "motionless."
Her hand had moved, signing many different characters.
Hearing this, Si Chenli couldn’t help but laugh, his tone indulgent, "Yes, even if you didn’t sign anything, just sitting here is already flirting."
Sang Qiao pushed her chair back, stood up, and reached out to wrap her arms around his neck, "Bend down."
"What are you trying to do?" Si Chenli had a vague idea of what she intended and obligingly bowed his head.
She leaned close to his ear, the breath from her lips barely brushing over his cheek before stopping at his ear, "Can we go out and play after work?"
After saying this, she stepped back and walked away a few steps, turning back to wait for him to follow.
Si Chenli realized he had been played, his expression darkening, but he still quickened his steps and followed her.
Without a word, he held her hand tightly and led her out of the company’s building.
The two went to a couples’ restaurant and specifically chose a secluded corner to sit in. A waiter quickly came over to greet them, "Hello, here’s the menu for you to look over."
Sang Qiao glanced over the menu when suddenly she heard Mr. Sang’s voice behind her.
"Jiaojiao, you are truly capable, handling all the company’s processes so swiftly. You can rest assured that I’ll manage it well!"
"Dad, I believe you," Lu Jiao replied perfunctorily. She was running her entertainment company only to compete with Sang Qiao’s company; whether Sang Zheng could actually succeed didn’t matter to her as her main goal wasn’t about making the company successful.
"Come on, eat some more. Jiaojiao, from your last conversation, I wasn’t sure how you wanted me to help you with Mr. Si?"
Sang Zheng took some food from the plate, feeling a flicker of unease. It was better to clarify things now, to avoid being tricked like his own foolish wife.
He wasn’t foolish enough to think Lu Jiao was simply being generous with her company.
"Dad, don’t be too nervous. All I want is for you to speak well of me to Mr. Si. If things work out between Mr. Si and me, half of the Lu Family could be part of my dowry, and I’ll be able to share some of that with you."
Lu Jiao was intentionally using property to tempt others, and of course, she needed more than just Sang Zheng to speak well of her.
It was just that bringing it up right at the start of the cooperation would be too distressing for people, and she feared scaring Sang Zheng away.
"So much?" Sang Zheng’s pupils dilated, half of the Lu Family! Even if they just gave him a share, wouldn’t he... make a fortune.
"Yes, although my mom adopted a boy, she still pays a lot of attention to me."
Lu Jiao picked up the red wine on the table and sipped it, a few shades of hatred flashing in her eyes. A boy with no blood relation to the family could easily inherit the Lu Family.
Yet, she had to exhaust all her schemes to marry Mr. Si just to get half of the Lu Family as her dowry, which was really unfair.
"Of course, after all, you are her biological daughter," Sang Zheng said ingratiatingly.
They spoke without any attempt to conceal their conversation, not knowing that the very person they were discussing was sitting at the table behind them.
Sang Qiao ordered a dish and then pushed the menu to Si Chenli. Her expression was neutral, as if she hadn’t heard the conversation behind her.
Si Chenli took the menu, his well-defined large palm gently tapping on the table.
After they ordered their dishes and handed the menu to the waiter, they heard Sang Zheng’s unreserved flattery.
"Jiaojiao, you are so pretty, winning Mr. Si’s heart must be easy. When he falls for you, he might not even care about half of the Lu Family and just give it all to you."
Sang Qiao, hearing Sang Zheng’s sycophantic tone, looked interestedly at the man across from her, "Would you not care about half of the Lu Family?"
Si Chenli’s fingertips, which were holding chopsticks, paused slightly, his dark eyes cold, "Compared to that, I’m more interested in Rose Entertainment."
Sang Qiao: "..." Conversation over, goodbye!
"Snap-–" Suddenly, a pair of chopsticks dropped under her chair.
Sang Zheng turned his head to pick them up and happened to see Si Chenli’s face, while the woman seated with her back to him... was obvious.
Considering what he had just said, Sang Zheng was unbearably embarrassed.
Lu Jiao also looked over, noticed Mr. Si, and brushed her hair with her hand, but after being previously cold-shouldered a few times, she dared not start a conversation.
"Mr. Si, Qiaoqiao, what a coincidence to meet here. Since we’ve met, why don’t we share a table and catch up," Sang Zheng casually walked over to their table.
"Not familiar, no old times to catch up on," Sang Qiao didn’t even lift her eyelids.
Inside, Sang Zheng was displeased. Why was Sang Qiao still acting so stubborn, always cold to him, her father?
"How can we not be familiar? You shouldn’t always be angry with me, Qiaoqiao. It’s a coincidence that I and Lu Jiao met and we are just eating together, don’t overthink it."
"Mm, you also got a company while dining," Sang Qiao said with a light laugh, her tone slow.
Sang Zheng’s heart jolted with fear. Had he known it would be such a coincidence, he wouldn’t have arranged to meet Jiaojiao at a restaurant but would have chosen a private room.
But at this moment, he couldn’t admit to anything and gave a forced laugh.
"That’s not the case, I’m just working for her. You know that the old man won’t let me return to the Sang Family. Staying idle at home every day, I’m just looking for something to do while making some money. Just make sure not to tell them about this."
"I’m not interested in whom you work for, as long as your being fooled doesn’t harm the Sang Family," Sang Qiao said mildly.
"What kind of talk is that? I’m not stupid, I won’t be fooled. Just don’t tell anyone else," Sang Zheng didn’t believe he could be fooled by Lu Jiao.
He wasn’t like Mrs. Sang, that fool who believed everything and signed documents recklessly.
