After Having a Dream, I Became Pregnant with a Billionaire's Child-Chapter 160 - 156: The Old Master’s Beautiful Dream
Chapter 160: Chapter 156: The Old Master’s Beautiful Dream
"Doctor, doctor, where is everyone?"
The emergency room door was kicked open.
Carlos rushed in, carrying Emily like a gust of wind.
The emergency doctor was taken aback.
"This family member, please don’t be agitated, you also need to queue up."
"Queue? My wife is unwell, check her immediately. If anything happens to her, I’ll dismantle your entire Love & Kindness Hospital."
Carlos’s face looked grim, his eyes were filled with determination, as if he had become a different person. The emergency doctor broke out in a cold sweat from fear.
To anyone else, it would seem that Carlos was some kind of gang leader, the Crown Prince of a mafia.
In his arms, Emily, feeling a bit dizzy, was momentarily stunned when she heard the word "wife," an indescribable feeling arose in her heart.
This was the first time Carlos called her his wife.
"I’ll check your wife immediately."
The emergency doctor, trembling, wanted to ask Emily where exactly she felt unwell.
"Ma’am, where exactly do you feel unwell, any past medical issues?"
Before Emily could answer, a gurgling sound came from her stomach.
Carlos and the emergency doctor both looked at Emily, she felt so embarrassed she wanted to disappear. She whispered,
"I’m fine.
I just didn’t have lunch, and I’m experiencing some low blood sugar."
With Carlos’s outburst, the previous unpleasantness between them dissipated, and neither of them mentioned divorce again.
Although Emily felt Carlos was unpredictable, she reminded herself that they had agreed on a fake marriage long ago, and Carlos had told her he had someone he liked.
As long as he hadn’t violated the fidelity clause in their marital agreement, it wouldn’t be considered a breach. If she divorced him now, it’d be a breach of the contract.
Emily recalled the last clause in their agreement: if either party breaches, the child will be awarded to the other party after birth, with the breacher having no visitation rights for life.
As Carlos carried Emily out of the emergency room, he said irritably,
"Why didn’t you tell me you had low blood sugar?"
He was so embarrassed earlier; when he came out of the emergency room, the doctors and nurses looked at him as if he was a madman. When had the Crown Prince of the Carter Family ever lost face like this?
"You didn’t give me a chance to speak, just picked me up and ran off,"
Emily silently blamed, this man had the nerve to blame her, not considering who was at fault for her missing lunch.
Besides, she hadn’t anticipated her low blood sugar would flare up suddenly.
The low blood sugar issue dated back to her childhood, and she couldn’t remember the exact reason for it.
Later, her mother carefully nurtured her health, coupled with martial arts training, her body grew much stronger, and the low blood sugar never returned.
After becoming pregnant, her constitution was affected, and the anger from seeing Carlos’s photo with Rainny made it flare up again.
"Why would you have low blood sugar?
The Parker Family treats you that poorly?
Are they not feeding you?
Does your father even count as a father for allowing his daughter to be mistreated?
Didn’t my mother have servants prepare plenty of supplements for you?"
Carlos’s eyes burned with anger, reminded of Emily’s earlier words, he glanced at her.
Worried he might have hit a sore spot for Emily, he changed the subject.
He remembered after knowing Emily was pregnant, his mother showered her with bird’s nest, shark fin, and other tonics.
"I’m not used to those supplements.
I got this problem as a child, it never flared up, perhaps it’s due to the pregnancy now."
Emily lightly mentioned it, not wanting to delve further.
"I’m fine now, please let me down."
Emily saw that after exiting the emergency room, Carlos still held onto her.
Both of them were handsome and attractive, naturally drawing attention.
As they moved, passersby eyed them curiously, making Emily feel uncomfortable, urging Carlos to put her down.
Carlos continued walking.
"Carlos, where are you taking me?"
"To eat!
I’m starving!"
Carlos snapped, holding Emily as he headed towards the hospital canteen.
"Put me down, Grandpa is here."
Emily pinched Carlos’s waist, her slender frame making carrying her effortless for Carlos.
But her pinch forced a gasp from him, almost causing him to drop her.
By the time Old Master Carter, leaning on a cane, reached them, Carlos’s face was green.
Old Master’s eyes lit up.
"Emily, you’re here.
You said you’d join me for a meal, I waited a while and didn’t see you.
Was about to come down to meet you."
"Oh, you rascal, why’re you here too?"
The old man, with poor eyesight and without wearing glasses, thought he heard Emily and Carlos, and sure enough, it was them.
But why did Carlos look so unhappy?
"Grandpa, you just woke up, how come you’re down here alone?
I just ran into Carlos.
He brought his friend to the hospital for treatment."
Emily glanced at Carlos as she spoke, reminding him that Rainny was still left in the parking lot.
"Emily, you stay with Grandpa for the meal.
I’ll be back soon."
Seeing Emily looking better, Carlos worried about Rainny, borrowed a wheelchair, and went to fetch her from the parking lot.
Emily and Old Master Carter entered the canteen together.
Emily ordered some light dishes and joined Old Master Carter for dinner.
She seized the chance to check Old Master’s pulse, confirming her hypertension medicine and acupuncture from her master Liu were working, stabilizing the old man’s condition.
"Emily, did Carlos bully you just now?
If he bullies you, tell Grandpa.
Grandpa will stand up for you."
Worried, Old Master Carter asked, seeing Emily unusually silent today.
"Grandpa, I’m alright.
It’s just those messages I sent you last night..."
Emily nervously poked at her rice.
She had mentioned to Old Master Carter that she liked someone, fearing he’d ask further.
Apart from Evelyn Hanson, Old Master Carter was her only friend.
Despite their age difference, they were close, discussing everything from cars to emotions to childhood, sharing almost everything.
If Old Master actually asked, Emily wouldn’t want to lie, but what if she told him she liked Carlos?
Considering Old Master’s affection for her, he might immediately press Carlos to marry her.
Even though she and Carlos were married discreetly, they planned to divorce, hence never mentioning it to the old man as per their agreement.
Emily questioned, nearly making Old Master Carter drop his chopsticks,
"You sent me messages?
Oh, what bad timing.
Maria was with me, but she’s clumsy.
When I woke up, she accidentally broke my phone while pouring water for me.
I hadn’t seen anything yet.
What did you send me?"
Old Master Carter lied without a hitch, internally even a little pleased.
This was a good sign indeed.
The two kids finally got in touch, even messaging past midnight. Could his chubby great-grandchild be on the way?
Relieved, Emily thought it was excellent the phone broke, ensuring no one saw the message.
"Grandpa, I just wished for your quick recovery.
If your phone’s broken, I’ll buy you a new one."
Emily chatted happily with Old Master, unaware of his gaze moving past her.
Just a moment ago full of joy, Old Master’s expression turned fierce as he glared.
"Carlos!
You rascal!"
Old Master saw Carlos wheeling in a young girl with a wheelchair.
When Carlos returned to the parking lot, Rainny White was squatting by the car, drenched in sweat.
He took her to the emergency room first, but Rainny was hungry and wanted to eat with him.
He wanted to call Oliver Ross, but Oliver was back at the company handling a collaboration with ST.
Seeing Rainny’s limited mobility, Carlos brought her along.
"Rainny, this is my grandpa."
He had no choice but to wheel her to Old Master Carter and Emily.
Upon hearing it was Brother Carter’s grandpa, Rainny felt a surge of excitement.
She had never met Brother Carter’s family before.
If she could gain the old man’s favor, her chances with Brother Carter would increase significantly.
Regretting faking a leg injury, Rainny felt exasperated.
"Grandpa."
Seeing the kind face of Old Master, Rainny cheerfully followed Carlos’s cue.
Unexpectedly, Old Master, upon hearing this,
threw his cane to the ground with a loud bang. The cane landed precisely by Rainny’s feet, startling her greatly.
