Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Cynical Mr. Tan

"To accuse your own student of being a failure only shows that your education has been a failure. Instead of saying that I’m not fit to stay in the class you lead, it would be better to say that your class cannot keep me. I simply want to find a better teacher."

It was the first time that Teacher Qin Hongbo of Class Seven had been so publicly humiliated by a student.

And, in front of all the teachers and students of the school!

In his fury, he spoke without thinking, revealing his true thoughts, "No matter how much you argue, you can’t change the fact that you’re a failure! Nothing but a hopeless mess, causing such a scene, aren’t you ashamed!"

"How interesting that is, Teacher Qin," she said with a hint of sarcasm. "According to you, I lose face by seeking justice for myself, but keeping quiet about being bullied wouldn’t be embarrassing?"

As she spoke, she seemed to think of something and sneered, "Right, Teacher Qin, you’re different from others."

"Your way of thinking is truly beyond the comprehension of ordinary people. After all... not everyone can be as self-righteous as you, a teacher in name only!"

Qin Hongbo felt the stares from all directions, and his face turned iron green.

"Shi Yaoguang, you shut your mouth!"

Yaoguang shrugged her shoulders, "Just because you tell me to shut up, I should do it? You couldn’t possibly think of yourself as such an important figure, could you?"

"You, you—" He clutched his chest, looking as if he was about to explode with anger.

Seeing this, Yaoguang sighed out of the goodness of her heart, "Although you’re nothing more than a disgrace, Teacher Qin, I am a good student."

"Since you are, after all, a teacher of the people, I won’t stoop to your level. You don’t want me to expose your true colors, so I’ll keep silent, keeping it a complete secret just for you."

Qin Hongbo felt he was about to have a heart attack from the anger.

Students from the neighboring class, seeing him infuriated to such a degree, felt a bit sorry for him and looked at Yaoguang with reproachful eyes, "Classmate Shi, how can you speak to the teacher like that?"

"Have I said anything wrong?"

Yaoguang showed no sign of remorse, "Everything I’ve said is well-founded. I don’t think there’s any issue with my speech."

"Last semester, I was a victim of school violence. I sought help from Teacher Qin more than once, but what did he do?"

"He could dismiss me once or twice, but after the third or fourth time, he simply ignored me entirely."

"After a while, he even started using me as a negative example, deliberately setting aside valuable class time to lecture me from his high horse, criticizing and accusing me."

"He always said I was antisocial and too gloomy, not suited for interaction."

"But he chose to ignore how I was at the beginning. I wasn’t always like this; it was his indifference and indulgence that led to all this."

Yaoguang spoke calmly, without any intention of deliberately accusing.

However, the meaning behind her words expressed her dissatisfaction and her accusation of Qin Hongbo’s apathetic attitude.

"As a homeroom teacher, even if his words didn’t carry weight, they would still have some effect."

"But he didn’t try to stop it at all. He even took pride in being able to watch my misfortune. Tell me... should I not resent him?"

The answer, of course, is yes.

Anyone facing such a situation would not be able to remain calm.

Moreover, she had just come of age.

It was a time when she needed help.

Imagine if school violence had happened to you.

You finally muster the courage to seek help from the homeroom teacher, only to be met with indifference or even kicking you when you’re down...

Just thinking about it leaves one feeling so disheartened that it’s suffocating.

For a moment, everyone looked at Teacher Qin with a changed perspective.

Students near him instinctively moved further away.

Qin Hongbo’s heart skipped a beat as he watched their subconscious movements.

It was over.

Shi Yaoguang’s public remarks today were clearly intended to ruin him!

The thought that his own future might be destroyed by this student threw his heart into turmoil.

When reason returned, he finally thought of a good solution.

Thinking of Shi Yaoguang’s bottom-of-the-barrel grades, he felt reassured.

Even though he taught Class 7, which was also the worst in terms of performance, Shi Yaoguang was the very bottom of the bottom.

With this thought, Qin Hongbo’s mood lightened considerably.

Immediately, he looked at Shi Yaoguang with a sneer and said with disdain, "You think I ignore you? Isn’t it because you don’t apply yourself to your studies?"

Shi Yaoguang’s lips curled up in mockery, "Your reasoning is quite unique, I didn’t realize I was that bad at studying. Why don’t you give me an example, enlighten me a bit?"

"Hmph, obstinate!" Qin Hongbo arrogantly said with an attitude that he could tolerate her only because of the money she paid, "You think if it weren’t for the Shi Family spending a fortune to squeeze you in here, you’d be worthy of attending our high school?"

Qin Hongbo was filled with righteous indignation as he spoke.

It was as if Shi Yaoguang had committed an unforgivable sin.

Shi Yaoguang chuckled coldly, "Teacher Qin, that’s illogical of you to say."

"If I was able to enroll, no matter what means I used, that’s my ability. You really have no need to play the cynic here. If you truly think that someone like me, who got in through the back door, doesn’t deserve to attend Ruihe High School, then it’s simple: put in the effort to push the principal out of his position."

"As long as you enact new school rules and regulations, whether or not the school admits students through the back door, that could be decided by a single word from you."

"On the contrary, you’re just the homeroom teacher of a class full of poor students; the school doesn’t ask you to cultivate outstanding talent, just to manage discipline. If you can’t even manage this little thing, there’s really no need for you to moonlight as some sort of ocean administrator."

Qin Hongbo was stunned, "What ocean administrator?" When had he ever taken on such a side job, and why didn’t he know about it?

Seeing him baffled, a mischievous student in the class laughed loudly and clarified for him, "Teacher Qin, when Shi Yaoguang calls you an ocean administrator, he’s saying you’re overstepping your bounds!"

Qin Hongbo: "...!!"

Looking at the students grinning cheekily and then back at Shi Yaoguang, who seemed to not take him seriously, Qin Hongbo felt as though even the sky had darkened.

"Shi Yaoguang, you’re too presumptuous! What you did before, I don’t care, but this semester, I won’t tolerate you in my class anymore!"

Shi Yaoguang responded indifferently, "I’ve been intending to leave Class 7, I can’t stay there any longer."

"You, you are very good!" Qin Hongbo pointed at her, scoffing, "I’d like to see, with all your ability, how many points you can score on the baseline test!"

"Originally, I was going to look past your poor performance for the Shi Family’s earnest support and give you a chance even if you didn’t qualify, but now it seems there’s no need for that!"

Shi Yaoguang: "That won’t be necessary for you to worry about."

"Don’t flatter yourself." Qin Hongbo snorted coldly, "I’m laying down my words here; I will be closely watching your baseline test scores. If you don’t meet the standards, I certainly won’t be making any exceptions for you!"

Shi Yaoguang maintained an unconcerned demeanor, "Please, feel free."
