America Tycoon: The Wolf of Showbiz-Chapter 888 - 847: Created a Hero
The next morning, after reaching the peak of mutual harm, Martin, Jolie, and Aniston—the three of them—took the private elevator downstairs together.
Last night, a battle concerning the ownership of this year's Oscar for Best Picture had ignited among the three of them.
Jolie and Aniston, supporting each other, came out of the elevator.
Martin drove a car over, stopped at the elevator's entrance, and opened the door to help Jolie and Aniston into the car.
Aniston lay on the front seat, glared at Martin in the driver's seat, and said, "Can't you just lose to me on purpose for once?"
"I wish I could," Martin also felt helpless, "I've already let you manipulate me as much as you wanted, but my abilities don't allow it. What can I do?"
Losing deliberately wasn't something he could control.
Jolie cursed, "Jenny, you're just a useless piece of trash! A useless piece of trash that's good for nothing!"
Aniston retorted, "No, we're all trash!"
Jolie was momentarily at a loss for words, because later she couldn't bear to watch and joined the battle as Aniston's aide.
In the end, they were still thoroughly defeated.

Martin started the car and asked, "Where are you going?"
Jolie said, "To Jen's place, I need to soothe her wounded heart."
Martin drove out of the underground garage.
Aniston, having accepted the bet and the loss, didn't say much else.
Jolie, on the other hand, talked non-stop on the way, mainly asking Martin, her old teacher, how to maintain a high profile and presence in the new social era.
Martin dropped the two off at Aniston's residence in Beverly Hills.
After Aniston got out of the car, she called the producer of "Twelve Years a Slave," Steve McQueen, asking him to withdraw the nomination for Best Picture and to focus on competing for other awards.
With no one at home, Martin didn't go back either and went straight to Davis Studio to inform Jessica and Emily that they no longer needed to consider "Twelve Years a Slave" a competitor.
He hadn't expected "Twelve Years a Slave" to be a film produced and funded by Aniston's Plan B Entertainment, nor had he expected Aniston to agree to Jolie's lousy idea of deciding who should withdraw by engaging in a physical showdown.
Of course, the one not withdrawing might not necessarily win Best Picture—public relations and promotion had to keep up.
Martin sat in his office for a while and, considering Aniston had voluntarily withdrawn, he thought about the related affairs and then called Aniston to tell her she could try contacting Netflix for a new offline channel for the film.
After the call, Martin pondered whether future competition for Best Picture would also need to consider stacking buffs.
The age of magic had indeed fully begun.
This situation didn't surprise him; after all, for many years, the ownership of the Oscar for Best Picture had no longer been determined by the quality of the film.
How many clearly superior films had failed at the Oscars?
Probably more than he could count on both hands.
Just then, Bruce pushed the door open, pulled out a chair to sit down, and said, "Alexandrovich just called with an encrypted satellite phone; there's important news."
Martin, reviewing the company's financial reports from last month and not looking up, asked, "Did 'Servant of the People' Season 2's ratings explode?"
Bruce said, "Yes, the second season set new viewership records for television dramas in several CIS countries and won Alexandrovich even more renown."
He went on, "Following the previous human trafficking incident, Alexandrovich has become a national hero of Ukraine. With the airing of 'Servant of the People' Season 2, he's become the most reputed individual across all of Ukraine, gaining support from the Ukrainian people, and even many of Russian ethnicity are backing him."
Martin nodded, "Old Cloth, we've created a hero, a hero who can lead the nation."
"The hero you created is going to run in next year's Ukrainian election," Bruce had been somewhat surprised when Alexandrovich informed him, although he knew it was bound to happen sooner or later, he always thought the other would wait a few more years, "Alexandrovich and his Servant of the People Party will soon officially announce participation in the next presidential election in Ukraine."
Martin laughed, "Haven't we been waiting for this day? Alexandrovich is now a national hero of Ukraine. He embodies the hopes of countless Ukrainians and has the support of an oligarch group. It's not impossible for him to win."
Bruce said, "Two years ago, Alexandrovich was just a comedian." He sighed, "A comedian becoming president... the world is getting more magical by the day."
Martin laughed heartily, "In a more magical world, we can live more comfortably."
Alexandrovich was like a protégé he'd trained himself. Aside from the potential financial gains, that inexplicable sense of accomplishment was especially fulfilling.
If he became president in the future, that would be even more interesting.
Bruce emphasized, "Alexandrovich mentioned one key point: he said none of this would have been possible without you. If he wins the election, he promises to give you a rich reward and asks for your continued support."
He looked at Martin peculiarly, "Is this guy going to gift you a few hundred young and beautiful girls?"
Martin was generous, "If that happens, I'll give you half."
"I don't want them." Bruce had been to Kiev with Martin and seen a whole bunch of young girls including Nastya, Mia, and Erica, "They're all too slim, hardly any meat on their bones. One Jody is enough for me, I couldn't handle a bunch of slim types, I'm afraid my pelvis would shatter."
