Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies-Chapter 405: Contrary Convincing
"That…" Dacheng opened his mouth and, after uttering a single word, he realised that he had no idea what to say. He couldn't help but frown in frustration. Though he never gave Yang Chunhua an answer, he thought that she would keep waiting for him no matter what. It was like the one anchor that had been holding him in place was suddenly gone.
The sense of loss that washed over him was not something that Dacheng could stomach.
Dacheng never understood Yang Chunhua's importance until that very moment. Even though he didn't like her in that way, he was used to seeing Yang Chunhua standing behind him like an anchor. Like, no matter where he went, she would always stay behind him. That was what he thought and believed.
In the past, Dacheng never knew how important the anchor he had been uncaring toward was. He thought that no matter how he treated Yang Chunhua, she would give in to him no matter what. In his eyes, as long as he turned back, he would see Yang Chunhua standing behind him like a silent tree. Without any complaint or regret.
Thus, Yang Chunhua's silent devotion became something that he could just take for granted. He took not only her silent care but also her love and care for him without giving anything in return.
But today, after finding out that the silent guardian who was looking after him was gone, he couldn't help but feel shocked. How was it possible for Yang Chunhua to let him go? But as he turned to look behind him, he realised that what Bai Meiyue said might be the truth.
He raised his head and glared at Bai Meiyue before turning around on his feet and marching away.
Lu Yin, who didn't understand what was going on, looked at Bai Meiyue and then turned to look at Dacheng. However, she still couldn't pick up what was going on, so she turned and glared at Bai Meiyue with her eyes popping angrily. With a glance, she turned to chase after Dacheng.
Bai Meiyue watched the two sing and dance before rolling her eyes and going back inside. She didn't have the time to care about Lu Yin and Dacheng; she needed to arrange the crystal nuclei that she had gotten and exchange them with her barter system. With the hospital already running, she no longer had to worry about running out of the crystal nuclei at the moment.
Once she returned home, Bai Meiyue went to the dining area, where she finished her breakfast and went to her bedroom to stock up on some supplies at the barter system. Bai Meiyue spent more than four hours collecting the medicinal herbs as well as some rations.
"I think it will be enough for the time being?" she remarked with her arms raised high up in the air. She arched her back and looked at the screen of the barter system with a smile on her face.
But her smile could no longer be kept when she stepped out of the house because she wanted to go on a walk and ran into Chu Xia.
"Bai Meiyue!"
Bai Meiyue tilted her head and looked at the woman who was striding towards her, and her face turned cold. She turned to walk away, but before she could even take a step, Chu Xia reached out and caught her hand.
Of course, the second the woman reached out to touch her, Bai Meiyue pulled her hand away. Putting on a cold face, she turned to look at Chu Xia, "Don't touch me."
"I wouldn't have to if you listened to me like a good girl." Chu Xia snapped. She looked at Bai Meiyue with a hint of annoyance; she couldn't understand what was going on with this woman. In the past, as long as she raised her voice at Bai Meiyue, she wouldn't dare to utter a peep, but now the girl who used to be scared of her was standing against her.
And that wasn't all; she was doing it with her head held high.
Chu Xia couldn't understand where she went wrong with Bai Meiyue.
She raised Bai Feng in the same manner, and that man was yet to break free of her clutches. In fact, as long as that man never found out what was hidden from him, he would listen to them without even thinking of rebelling.
But Bai Meiyue—how could this girl step out from under her thumb?
Maybe it was because this girl didn't grow up under her wing ever since she was a baby. Chu Xia was certain that if Bai Meiyue were with her when she was a child, then there was no way she would have been able to get out of her hands like this.
"You don't understand," Bai Meiyue said in a clipped tone. "I have nothing to say to you. Nor do I want to talk with you; the fact that you are here disrupting me and still standing upright is enough to prove that I am giving you enough face."
She stepped forward and stated quietly, "Honestly, I am more than inclined to cut off that hand that touched me. Because it disgusts me."
Chu Xia hid her hand behind her as if that could stop Bai Meiyue from cutting it off.
She looked at Bai Meiyue and said, "You—You cannot do that."
"Yeah? Why don't you try it?" Bai Meiyue sneered coldly.
"I just wanted to talk to you about the base." Realising that Bai Meiyue was not joking, Chu Xia lost all her smugness. She lowered her head and said to her, "I wanted to ask you if the base reached out to you? Are you going to join it?"
Bai Meiyue frowned. She had to admit that Dacheng and Lu Yin were really fast. They had already rounded up Bai Feng.
As for why she was certain that Bai Feng was going to be in the base? It was because she knew that the man could never go against Chu Xia and Bai Qingshi. And from the eagerness in Chu Xia's eyes—it was quite clear that she wanted to join the base.
