Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 101: Paradise
Chapter 101: Paradise
While Lydia called her parents, attempting to reach them, Elena, on the other hand, summoned her Golden Tablet to check its status.
Just as she was about to explore further, a nagging feeling struck her—she had forgotten something important.
’What is it? Perhaps I can remember it later.’
Over the past few days, the Reserve Energy Tab points had dropped by 15%, so she quickly replenished it with jades to restore it to 100%.
However, the Experience Tab points remained stuck at 8% despite her efforts to insert a significant amount of jade and antiques. Frustrated, she decided to pause the upgrades for now, opting to wait until she could gather more resources to continue.
She also checked the Marked Tab and saw that there were now 13 individuals listed. The increasing number of people in her space brought an involuntary smile to her face. At last, each sector in her space had someone to manage it.
Lost in thought, she didn’t notice Ethan appear behind her. When he caught sight of his wife smiling happily, he paused for a moment.
Noticing the ragged Golden Tablet in her hands, his brows raised slightly in curiosity. He then interrupted her, asking, "Wife, why are you smiling?"
Elena was taken aback when she realized she had completely forgotten about her husband. Turning around, she offered a guilty smile and kissed his cheek. With a sweet tone, she replied, "Husband, I’m just checking the Golden Tablet."
Seeing his wife’s guilty expression, Ethan couldn’t resist kissing her lips softly. He then looked at her curiously and asked, "Is there a new update on the Golden Tablet?"
"Nothing. I was just checking the status on the Golden Tablet," Elena replied, explaining the details in the Reserve Energy and Experience tabs.
Ethan nodded, recognizing that while they had plenty of raw jade from their previous hoarding, it still wasn’t enough. They needed to gather more.
"Wife, I was thinking of checking the bank and museum first, then heading to the jewelry shops once the typhoon eases up," Ethan said, glancing at her for her opinion. "What do you think?"
"That’s a great idea, husband. We should gather those items before the flood submerges the museum; losing the antiques would be a shame. After that, let’s visit the library—I was thinking of storing the books inside Paradise." Elena agreed and suggested her plan, too.
"Sure, wife," Ethan replied, wrapping his arms around her in a blissful hug.
After discussing their plan, they turned their attention to the space, thoughtfully reviewing each sector.
"The fruits are thriving, according to Grandpa Ford. The seeds are sprouting 50 times faster than usual! Can you believe an apple can grow in just a month?" Elena exclaimed, marveling at the incredible space.
"Interesting! Let’s head back to Paradise and check on each sector," Ethan replied, eager to see the progress.
"But what about Lydia?"
"She’ll probably take her time talking to her family."
"Alright, let’s go."
They entered the space and checked on each sector, starting with the Western Fertile Soil—the livestock section.
There, they saw Grandpa Caldwell feeding the animals—cows and goats happily munching on the grass she had planted previously.
Elena was puzzled by the sheer number of chickens and ducks; there were far too many to count.
’What happened in this area.’
"Well, the animals are growing faster than expected—20 times the normal rate," Grandpa Caldwell explained. "I’m not sure what caused it; maybe it’s the food they’re eating or the air they’re breathing. But it’s truly amazing."
"I wasn’t aware of this," Elena said, feeling a twinge of surprise. The white dot had never mentioned anything about the animals. The immortals used this space for cultivation and no longer ate; they relied on the pills they had created.
It was a shame they were missing out on the delicious meat.
"Should we start processing the chickens and ducks?" Grandpa Caldwell asked.
"Yes, Grandpa," she replied. "Has Uncle Anthony finished fixing the meat processor?"
"I think so. He was working on the cotton processor now, so I believe he’s already done with the meat processor."
"Okay, let me help you store these eggs first," Elena said. With a wave of her hands, the eggs vanished and were neatly sorted into the Southern Inventory sector.
The chickens no longer laid their eggs in pens; with so many of them around, they simply laid their eggs wherever they pleased in the open area.
After feeding the animals, Elena quickly retrieved a cage and placed the chickens inside for processing. She wondered how the meat processor would transform them into a ready-to-package product.
She was about to teleport when she spotted the kids running around with bundles of grass on their heads. They were adorable, their laughter echoing as they glanced back at the baby pets following closely behind.
Poochi was overjoyed to see his mistress again. He had missed both her and his master while tending to the baby exotic animals. With a burst of energy, he darted away from the others and circled around Elena, wagging his tail in pure delight.
"Aw~~aw~~awww," Poochi barked loudly, his excitement palpable.
’I miss you, mistress. I’ve been so busy these past few days.’
"Poochi, you look so handsome today! Are you taking care of your siblings?" Elena asked, kneeling down to pet him.
"Aw~aww~awwwww," Poochi replied, his tail wagging even faster.
’Yes, mistress. They are growing well.’
"You will have your favorite food later, okay? You’re such a good boy."
Afterward, the rest finally arrived. Little Mia, her cheeks flushed with frustration, crossed her arms and pouted.
"Poochi! Why did you wun so fast? Look at baby Wolfie and baby Tiggy; they stwuggle to keep up!"
Hearing the pet names, Elena couldn’t help but smile. She knew that little Mia had been brainstorming these names for days, constantly asking her mom for suggestions that would be easy to remember.
"Aw~aw~aw," Poochi softly whined, his ears drooping slightly as he realized his mistake.
’My bad, sorry.’
He had been so excited to see Elena that he had momentarily forgotten the little ones. His gentle gaze, looking back at baby Wolfie and baby Tiggy as if to say he would make it up to them.
Elena quickly stepped in to prevent their playful banter from becoming a little argument.
"Alright, alright! Poochi realizes he made a mistake, so little Mia should have a big heart to forgive him," she said with a warm smile. She knelt down to Mia’s level, encouraging her to let go of her frustration.
"I’ll listen to Sis Ewe!" little Mia respond joyfully as she petted baby Leon.
The kids then greeted Elena and Ethan with their cheerful voices. Little Koby was especially excited to see so many animals up close for the first time. His eyes sparkled with wonder, as he had never had the chance to visit the zoo because his brother was always too busy. This moment felt extra special for him.
"Sister Elena, Brother Ethan, good afternoon!" Angela and little Koby greeted warmly.
"Good afternoon to both of you!" Elena replied with a smile. "How’s your stay in Paradise?"
"It’s so good here," Little Koby said, his eyes excitedly shining. "It’s so different from the outside world!"
Angela nodded in agreement, clearly enjoying every moment of their time in this special place.
"That’s wonderful to hear, but as much as we want to stay in this beautiful paradise forever, I’m afraid that wouldn’t be a good idea. We must adapt to the outside world, okay?" Elena said gently, hoping to impart an important lesson to the kids.
"Imagine if you stayed here forever and never got to see your brother Xander because he was outside the paradise. Would you really choose to stay here and never see him again?"
She wanted them to understand that while this place provided a safe haven, connecting with the outside world was important, even if it could be challenging. They couldn’t be shielded forever; they needed to learn to adapt to the outside and embrace the realities it offered.
Ethan raised his brows, noticing that his wife had a different demeanor when she spoke about other kids. However, when it came to Little Mia, her protectiveness intensified.
He planned to repeat what she had said later to help make his case. He needed to persuade his wife to mark Little Mia, suggesting that they modify the mark so little Mia could stay in space for 24 hours instead of the usual 3-hour limit. This would help ease his wife’s worries while ensuring that Mia would still be bound by the Golden Tablet rules.
Ethan was willing to use the extra spiritual energy from the Reserve Energy tab without hesitation. His wife’s safety was his utmost priority.
Panic surged for both of them, especially Angela. She quickly replied, "No, we must help, brother. I am not afraid as long as we stay together."
Little Koby was confused but nodded in agreement; his sister Angela was right. No matter what happened, they had to stick together.
"Good girl, don’t worry. We will always take care of you as we navigate the complexities of the outside world. It may not be what we know anymore, but as long as you listen to us, we will protect you, okay?"
"We understand, Sister Elena. Thank you," Angela replied gratefully. She felt relieved that their brother Xander had found a reliable leader. This opportunity meant a lot to her, and she was determined to work harder to repay them.
"It’s already lunchtime; let’s eat first under the tree," Ethan suggested.
Everyone nodded in agreement, eager to take a break and enjoy a meal together.
