Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 131: Sour
Chapter 131: Sour
Returning to their unit, Ethan quickly checked his wife’s overall state.
Knowing that she was fine, he felt a wave of relief. He then began to massage her shoulders, working his way down to her feet.
"It feels so good; my shoulder feels a little stiff. Press harder on the right side."
"This one?"
"Yeah."
"Wife, drink the well water first," Ethan said, handing her a cup of well water.
Elena took a sip and then asked, "By the way, what’s the deal with the Heather family?"
Ethan knew his wife wasn’t over about the Heathers, so he informed her that the current patriarch had proposed a marriage alliance with his grandfather some time ago.
However, both he and his grandfather declined the offer, and after that, there was no further contact.
"I don’t know much about her. I don’t even remember meeting her. The first time I saw her was way back in Mapple Village."
"I see. She seemed delusional."
Ethan agreed, "We didn’t even give them a proper beating."
"Since we already know their location, let’s pay them a surprise visit," Elena replied, smirking at the thought of torturing them.
"Alright, but let’s rest for a while before we venture out again."
Ethan waited for a response but soon realised his wife had already fallen asleep.
She was utterly exhausted after a long day, and as her husband’s gentle massage worked its magic, combined with the inviting softness of the bed, she found it impossible to resist the pull of drowsiness.
Before long, she drifted into a deep sleep.
"Good night, wife."
To ensure she was comfortable and undisturbed, Ethan gently carried her into the space and laid her down on the bed inside the portable house.
Afterwards, he left to visit his grandfather’s unit to update him and discuss the recent situation.
"How dare the Heather family try to harm my granddaughter-in-law! When I see that old schemer Jack again, I will make sure he faces the consequences for not raising his grandchildren right," Grandpa Caldwell growled, his voice filled with concern and anger at the thought of Elena being in danger.
"Calm down. I shared this information so that you all would be aware of the Heather family. Please don’t confront them alone," Ethan advised.
"Alright. How is Elena?" Grandpa Caldwell asked, his tone softening.
"She’s sleeping now," Ethan replied.
"Go ahead, I know you’re eager to be with your wife."
"Grandpa, you really know me best. I’ll leave now," Ethan said with a smile before heading off to the space.
Soon, he joined his wife in a deep slumber while hugging her gently with his warm embrace.
But he was awakened in the middle of the night as soon as he felt his wife was not on his side, he waited, thinking she had gone to the comfort room.
But after a few minutes, there was still no Elena returning. He then opened his eyes and searched for her.
To her surprise, she was having a midnight snack. She was sitting at the table, happily eating assorted sour fruits.
He blinked, confused. "Wife?"
"You’re awake! Do you also feel hungry?" Elena asked.
"Not really. I just woke up and noticed you weren’t in bed," Ethan replied, sitting beside her.
"Alright, do you want to eat some fruit?" she offered.
Ethan smiled mischievously, then kissed her cheek and whispered, "I prefer to eat you."
Elena blushed and replied, "Be serious."
"Okay, then feed me some. By the way, wouldn’t it be better to eat sandwiches instead of fruit?" Ethan suggested, thinking a quick snack would be more satisfying.
"But I want to eat fruit right now. Open your mouth," Elena insisted, feeding him grapes.
"Wifeee... It’s so sour!" Ethan exclaimed, his face wrinkling from the tartness.
Elena was taken aback and tried one herself, finding it perfectly fine. "Not really! Why are you exaggerating?"
"Did your taste buds change? It was so sour, I’m not kidding," Ethan replied honestly, trying another grape. Maybe she had just picked a bad one.
But soon, he discovered that all the grapes were sour to the core. "It’s really sour; let’s not eat them anymore."
"Don’t! I like them, husband."
"Fine, just not too many," he conceded.
"Okay. Oh, I want a mango now!" she exclaimed.
Ethan sliced a mango for her. "Here you go."
Elena ate happily, and Ethan watched her cute expressions as she enjoyed her snack.
After she had her fill, she felt drowsy and wanted to go back to sleep.
Ethan agreed playfully.
’It was finally my turn to eat some fruit.’
He quickly went to the bathroom to freshen up a bit.
When he returned, however, he found his wife already sleeping soundly.
He sighed helplessly and kissed her lips gently.
After that, they drifted off to sleep once again, embracing each other warmly.

The next morning, Ethan woke up earlier than Elena. When he saw her still sleeping peacefully, he was surprised.
Usually, it was Elena who would wake him up for their morning exercise routine, so seeing her still in bed was unusual.
He couldn’t help but chuckle at the thought of her reaction later when she realised she was late to train the kids.
He let her sleep a little longer, figuring she must be exhausted.
After freshening up, he quietly left the portable house to join the others for their daily training routine.
"Bwother Ethan, where is Sis Ewe?" Little Mia asked, looking around for her sister.
She was excited about today’s activity, determined to finally outrun Poochi and escape from his pursuit in their game, ’Don’t Let the Bad Guys Kidnap You,’ where Poochi played the kidnapper.
Poochi also barked eagerly, searching for his mistress.
Seeing the kids’ eager faces, Ethan found it amusing. "Your sis Ele is tired and needs some rest. How about I supervise today?" he suggested.
The kids hesitated, knowing how Brother Ethan trained the adults with a strictness that made them wary.
"We will wait for Sis Ewe," Little Mia protested, eager to show her sister her new record for running.
Ethan didn’t push them, realizing they were more comfortable with Elena’s teaching style.
Soon, the adults began their exercises while the kids played around, waiting for Elena to wake up.
