Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 146: It’s all about the benefits
Chapter 146: It’s all about the benefits
Oslo and Xander quickly set up the shop in Unit 1501, retrieving heating devices powered by electric batteries.
They placed several of them without worrying about the electricity, as it was freely charged from space itself.
Once they finished, they notified Elena, who exited at their location with a team to assist in the shop.
Afterward, she returned to Grandpa Caldwell’s unit, as her husband had requested that she continue her rest.
Ethan then opened the shop and announced that they would cater to everyone with jade and antiques.
The news spread quickly, and soon the residents learned that the Paradise shop had opened for business.
They hurriedly made their way to the shop, eager to purchase items that could help them cope with the biting cold.
As they entered the new shop location, the warmth from the heating devices enveloped them.
They were astonished to see several heating devices operating efficiently amidst the disaster, and they couldn’t help but wonder where the shop had gotten the equipment and the source of electricity or generator powering them.
However, they dared not ask, knowing that the shop rules prohibited inquiries about such matters; they could only request the items they wanted to trade.
Everyone then began to inquire about the items available for cold weather frantically.
"Sir, do you have anything that can help fight against this extreme cold?"
"Yeah... Sob... Sob... it’s so cold. Please, can I exchange this jade for some fabric materials?"
Butler Aki didn’t reply immediately. Instead, he gestured for everyone to ask their questions one at a time.
Next, he turned to the waiting customer and said, "Everyone, please line up! We have free ginger soup!"
The residents were surprised, but soon they formed a line to receive the hot soup.
"This shop is truly remarkable. I hope they stay and don’t leave this building," a resident said, grateful for the soup.
"I agree. Why are these disasters becoming so intense?" another replied, sipping the hot soup.
"Ugh... The typhoon has stopped, but now another disaster has taken its place," a resident added.
"At least you’re prepared," another resident chimed in.
The residents shared their experiences and worried about the increasing danger of the disasters, fearing that they would not end anytime soon.
They sighed, feeling helpless about the situation, but knew they had to survive for their loved ones.
While some people lined up for free soup, others started trading, exchanging their jades or antiques for points.
They quickly chose warm fabrics since the shop didn’t sell ready-made clothes, and they bought a lot of dry wood because it was being sold at the lowest price.
"Give me 5 meters of warm fabric and 10 bundle of dry wood."
"Mine, exchange it will electric stove, and noodles."
"Well, give me 10 meters of warm fabric and 12 bundles of dry wood. Please also exchange for some cold medicine. Thanks."
"I’ll exchange my points for 8 meters of fabric and 10 bundles of dry wood."
The shop was now buzzing with activity as everyone tried to call out simultaneously to trade for warm fabric, afraid it would soon sell out.
But then, Butler Aki reassured them they had enough fabric and dry wood.
"Our shop has plenty of it, so there’s no need to panic. We can provide you with what you need according to your points."
The residents calmed down and lined up for free hot soup while waiting for their turn.
After finishing their trading, some residents remained at the shop.
Soon, Unit 1501 became crowded as the warmth it provided kept them from leaving.
Ethan decided to let the kids stay, but the adults would have to fend for themselves.
The residents agreed, as long as their little ones would be safe from the extreme cold.
They planned to set up their unit and burn dry wood to cope with the chill. Once the temperature warmed up, they would retrieve their kids.
Ethan nodded, as long as they promised to take the kids back later.
But some residents were dissatisfied.
"Let us stay here for a while," one of them said.
"Yeah, since you’ve already opened it to everyone, just stand by it until the end," another added.
Ethan sneered at their audacity. Just because he allowed the children to stay didn’t mean he was obligated to help everyone.
But before he could dismiss them, the residents who had become fans of the shop stood up, watching the others with disdain.
"Who are you? You’re not from Building C. How dare you demand anything from the shop?" a resident exclaimed, angered by those who felt entitled. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"Yeah, instead of thanking them, you’re pointing fingers as if they owe you something," another resident added, glaring at them.
"Indeed, you’re not from here. Which building are you from?" a third resident asked, curious about these newcomers who had taken refuge in Building C.
The residents united to defend the shop, knowing it had greatly helped them cope with the disaster.
They feared that the shop would be disappointed in them and might vanish, never to return.
Plus, the shop was conveniently located in Building C, which was an advantage for them.
So, they were determined to defend it with all their might.
When Elena appeared, she saw the confrontation among the residents.
She listened from the corner, lost in thought.
’It was all about benefits.’
The residents supported the shop because it had been a valuable resource for them, and the shop would continue to serve their needs as long as they had items to trade.
Soon, those who wanted to stay began to leave quickly, afraid that the residents might join forces and push them out of the building.
Ethan watched them leave and went to his wife’s side, noticing her appear a while ago.
"What are you doing here? It’s so cold. You should be resting right now," he said, wanting to hug her, but the thick clothes made it difficult.
"Can’t sleep anymore and wanted to check the situation," she replied, her breath visible in the cold air.
"Then, just sit and relax here and get some hot milk; it will be good for the baby," he suggested, trying to coax her into taking care of herself.
"Don’t worry, I will just watch around and do nothing, okay?" She assured him, her eyes scanning the area.
Ethan then busied himself organizing supplies and checking on the remaining residents, while Elena looked intently at the familiar boy once again, who was blissfully drinking the hot soup.
