"That could kill a man," some whispered.

"Is he...okay?"

"Is he even breathing at this point? That was such a hard fall."

The crowd was in an uproar. Gasps and murmurs spread throughout the arena as Kai lay motionless on the ground. Meanwhile, Aiden was back in his wheelchair.

He checked his body all over and sighed in relief when he realized he was really back.

"No feeling on my legs," he muttered. "Just how I like it."

The referees had halted the game, expecting a substitution. The medic team was halfway through the court when Kai suddenly stood, shocking everyone.

His face was shown on the screen, showing no sign of pain.

The crowd looked at him in disbelief.

A faint streak of blood trickled from a small cut above Kai's left eyebrow. Coach Xu Wei immediately stood up, signaling for a substitution.

However, Kai shook his head, his expression set in stone.

Coach Xu Wei was about to speak once more when he felt a firm hand on his shoulder. "Let him play, coach," he said.

Xu Wei glared at him. "He's bleeding! Aren't you afraid that what happened to Zhu will repeat itself?" he asked.

Marcus pursed his lips. Of course, he had thought of the possibility. But then again, this was Kai they were talking about.

"He's different, coach," Marcus said, causing the old man's face to soften. "I believe you know that."

Coach Xu Wei sighed and massaged the bridge of his nose. Then, he nodded, notifying the referee that the game shall continue as it is.

The crowd murmured once more while the staff set up the scorer's table hastily.

Meanwhile, the French team watched the scene with amusement.

One of the players, Dubois, turned to his captain, muttering in French, "Un enfant stupide. (A foolish child)."

Their captain, Lafleur, smirked. "Let him stay. He'll continue to embarrass himself."

The whistle blew, signaling the game's continuation. Kai wiped the blood from his brow with the back of his hand and took his position at the top of the key. His eyes burned with a fire so intense it made his teammates pause for a second.

"Ball," Kai demanded.

Zheng passed it to him with a quick bounce. "You good?" he asked under his breath.

"Better than ever," Kai replied, a grin tugging at the corner of his lips.

Max raised both eyebrows.

"Kai?" he muttered. Did he finally return?

The French players gave him space, deciding to focus on defending the Dogs' three-point specialist, Muyang.

Kai dribbled the ball, his movements deceptive. He took two steps toward the paint, drawing in the attention of one defender. In a flash, he spun his back to the basket, and leaped into the air. Twisting mid-jump, he executed a reverse shot without even looking at the hoop.

The crowd held its breath.

The ball arced before falling cleanly through the net.

The gym erupted into cheers and shouts of disbelief.

"Was that...a no-look reverse shot?" Gina stammered into the microphone.

"It was," David replied, his voice rising with excitement. "And it was flawless! Are we getting back the Kai Guo we know and love?"

Coach Xu Wei's eyebrows furrowed. What kind of shift did he have?

Marcus smirked to himself. "This kid is really something," he muttered.

Kai landed gracefully, already retreating to defend. His expression was calm, but his heart raced with adrenaline. This was why he loved basketball—this feeling of being unstoppable, of proving that skill could outshine physical limits.

Having not played for a little over a day made him feel like it.

The French team inbounded the ball quickly, hoping to regain control. Their guard drove down the court, weaving past Jinping and Renren. But Kai was there, reading the play like an open book. He intercepted the pass with lightning speed, the ball firmly in his hands as he sprinted toward the other end.

He stopped just outside the three-point line, his defender giving him a half-step of space. Without hesitation, Kai rose for a three-point shot, his form picture-perfect.

The ball soared through the air, the arena silent as everyone watched its trajectory.

Swish.

"Three points for Kai Guo!" David shouted, his voice echoing in the gym. "He's narrowing the gap, folks!"

Kai glanced at the scoreboard.

"More," he whispered, feeling himself lose his mind.

"Just 13 points now," Gina said, her tone filled with astonishment. "Kai is single-handedly turning this game around!"

The French team called a timeout, and their coach was frustrated. Lafleur gathered his teammates in a tight huddle.

"This kid is making a fool of us," he hissed. "No more underestimating him. We double-team him from now on."

The timeout ended, and the French players returned to the court, hoping to stop Kai.

They shadowed Kai closely, denying him any breathing room.

But it didn't matter.

Kai, unfazed, signaled for the ball again. Zheng hesitated for a moment before passing it to him. The double-team closed in immediately, two French defenders cutting off his angles.

Kai grinned. "Too slow."

He crossed over to his left, his movements so quick and precise that both defenders stumbled to keep up. With a flick of his wrist, he released another three-pointer from the corner.

The ball hung in the air for what felt like an eternity.

Swish.

"Ten points!" David's voice cracked with excitement. "The gap is now just ten points!"

Aiden's eyes widened with every shot Kai had made. "This is the kind of play I needed to do? No wonder they didn't take me seriously," he whispered to himself, chuckling.

Then, he shook his head. "It's unbelievable. Only he can do that."

Aiden felt that Kai had reached a new level. And he was sure because he played momentarily with the French players. Kai was better than them.

Jimmy watched the scene with an agape mouth.

"What kind of guy is he," he muttered.

Kai turned to his teammates, his eyes blazing. "We're not done yet."
