Beast Hack: Customizing Beasts and Capturing Beauties-Chapter 351: Tampering Vornis—BOOM
Sylvia's eyes was fixed on one of the silver containment boxes.
She stood before it, alone.
Without hesitation, she tapped the release sequence.
The box unfolded with a hiss of air and arcane pressure.
Vornis, the steel warbeast, soon appeared from it.
Sylvia smirked. "There you are."
She circled the beast slowly, clipboard in one hand, scanning device in the other.
"Luxoria Castle claims Vornis can't be disassembled… or researched," she said aloud.
"That tampering will cause system failure."
She stopped in front of its face, tilting her head.
"But who am I?"
She tapped the metal plate on her chest—an Aurelis family emblem.
"I'm Sylvia. Of the Aurelius bloodline. We don't buy power—we unravel it."
She walked over to the lab console, fingers flying across the keys.
"A beast that can't be understood isn't a weapon. It's an illusion. And illusions break."
She turned toward the Vornis again, its systems powering up.
"A beast like you… created by a shop with no legacy, no academic standing? Don't insult me."
She gestured toward the restraints.
"Override passive protocols. Begin external deconstruction sequence."
The lights around the chamber shifted red. The Vornis's body twitched once.
Sylvia's eyes gleamed.
"We'll start with limb integration. Let's see how your armor binds to the core—"
But the moment the analysis signal touched the Vornis's neural shell, its eyes flashed bright red.
The hum in the lab spiked.
Warning signals appeared across the console.
WARNING: ABSOLUTE BOND PROTOCOL VIOLATED. CRITICAL SYSTEM BREACH DETECTED. SELF-PROTECTION MODE ACTIVATED.
Sylvia's smirk faded.
"What—?"
The Vornis let out a sharp roar. A red pulse shot across its entire body.
Sylvia turned to the console. "Shut it down—shut it—!"
Before she could finish, the Vornis exploded.
Not in a chaotic burst—but a precise, directional rupture.
The containment field shattered.
Fire, smoke, and reinforced fragments tore through the sealed lab.
The lights blinked out. The backup generators kicked in a second too late.
Then, from within the debris, a figure stood up.
She was covered in soot, her lab coat torn down the sleeve.
Sylvia Aurelius emerged, face bruised, eyes blazing.
She wiped blood from her mouth and growled, "Damn it."
She looked around at the shattered remains of the containment rig.
Sparks rained down from the ceiling as alarms blinked uselessly.
"To think it exploded the second I started disassembling it."
she paced back toward the console—now cracked and half-melted.
Her fists clenched.
"They weren't bluffing. That wasn't a bluff at all…"
She turned her furious eyes toward the remaining two silver containment boxes.
Sylvia gritted her teeth.
"So it's true. The Vornis can't be researched. Not by normal means."
She stared at the crest on the side of the box.
"Luxoria Castle… you think this trick makes you untouchable?"
She hissed through her teeth, stepping forward.
"You've underestimated the Aurelius family."
Then she stopped and turned toward the lab door.
Her voice dropped to a bitter murmur.
"…But maybe I underestimated you too."
She narrowed her eyes, then glanced once more at the silver boxes. "Fine."
She picked up the boxes—one in each hand, dragging them with scorched gloves.
"Let's go."
She walked out, smoke still curling around her shoulders.
"I'll bring this to my older brother."
---
In his laboratory, Cassius stood over his reinforced workbench.
A massive beast rested inside a containment pod.
It was Vorafang, the SS-rank predator his younger brother had bought.
Cassius was nearly finished with its internal reinforcement upgrade.
He painstakingly customized its bone pressure limiters and enhanced core stamina with a layering of energy runes.
Just as he was locking the final sequence, the lab doors slammed open.
Cassius didn't even look up. "This section's restricted."
Heavy footsteps echoed in.
Then came the voice.
"Cassius."
He looked up.
His expression darkened with surprise. "Sylvia? What the hell—what happened to you?"
Sylvia stood in the doorway with her disheveled looks and burned coat.
Behind her, two silver containment boxes hovered in automated transport mode, humming softly.
Cassius stepped forward, eyes narrowed.
"You look like you just wrestled a flame-element berserker. What did you do?"
Sylvia didn't blink. "I researched one."
Cassius frowned. "Researched what?"
She tapped one of the boxes. "This. From Luxoria Castle. Vornis."
He blinked. "…What's a Vornis?"
Sylvia exhaled slowly.
"Steel war beast. Custom-built. Luxoria claims it could not be tampered with and was bonded to its buyer for life."
"They warned tampering causes detonation."
Cassius folded his arms. "And you tried to tamper with it anyway?"
Sylvia gritted her teeth. "Of course I did. We're the Aurelius family. I had to try."
Cassius's brows raised. "And it exploded?"
"Instantly. The second I touched its internal shell," she said bitterly.
"It wasn't a bluff. It blew the lab. I barely made it out."
He walked up to the closest box, scanning its smooth silver casing.
"No breach points. No access ports. What kind of containment is this?"
"I don't know," Sylvia said.
"But they've created something dangerous. Something we didn't design. That we can't reverse-engineer."
Cassius stared at the box for another long second.
Then he looked at his sister. "So what do you want from me?"
Sylvia's voice lowered. "Help me figure out how to research it. Quietly. If Luxoria Castle built it, there has to be a flaw."
Cassius turned back to Vorafang.
"You're asking me to drop this."
He motioned toward the half-enhanced SS-Rank predator still pulsing with raw power.
"To chase something you nearly died testing?"
"I'm asking you to prove Luxoria Castle isn't untouchable."
Cassius was quiet for a long moment.
Then he looked back at the silver boxes.
"…Alright. Let's see what this 'Vornis' is really made of."
Sylvia nodded without hesitation.
She raised her hand and tapped the side of the second containment box.
The silver panels hissed and unfolded.
Another Vornis stepped out.

Cassius took one step forward, eyes locked on the beast.
"Well, well… now this is interesting."
He circled the Vornis once, noting its posture, the reactive plating, and the structure of its tail blades.
His smirk grew wider.
"It's almost the same frame as Vorafang," he muttered.
"Size, core height, even the neural armor connections. But this one… it's more refined."
Sylvia crossed her arms, still wincing from the burn marks on her side. "Can you scan it?"
Cassius didn't answer. He was already activating his custom interface.
Runes lit up across the table behind him, casting a red glow over his fingers.
He turned back toward the beast, eyes narrowed.
"Let's scan it."
