Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 118: [Fish] - Nerio’s Part (30)
Chapter 118: [Fish] - Nerio’s Part (30)
Silvanus swore he had nothing to do with the humans being dragged into the underwater world. It could only be that Elena had become stronger, to the point she could summon a great flood and sweep everyone into her domain without even appearing.
As he had predicted, even without the mermaid scales, Elena would still transform. The dungeon would never allow humans to pass so easily.
"Cough! Cough! Cough!"
Leonard choked on water, coughing violently. It seemed to jolt him awake a little, but the scales on his body kept growing, disappearing, growing again, then vanishing—showing his condition’s instability.
The great flood had vanished, leaving them sprawled across a waterlogged ground, their bodies soaked.
This was a barren land, with nothing around but a vast, charred plain under a gray, lifeless sky. Not a tree, not a blade of grass—it was like a land forgotten by the universe, desolate and forsaken.
"Where... is this place?" Leonard muttered. At the same time, Cocona’s voice rose beside him: "This is the world beneath the water..."
"They’re too badly hurt! I can’t heal them anymore!" Alice shouted.
At that moment, the others gathered Bella, Austin, and Cyril together. However, Alice’s powers could only stop the bleeding—she couldn’t bring them back to consciousness.
"Ron, protect them. Everyone else, prepare for battle!"
Cocona said coldly, because they were about to face an even greater danger.
Suddenly, the ground shook—no, not just the ground. Even the sky trembled violently as if it could collapse at any moment.
The sky suddenly split open with force. Instead of darkness, it turned blue, and clouds began to appear—yet there was still a strange heaviness. The sunlight didn’t bring warmth but an oppressive heat, like an oven, threatening to roast all the humans alive.
The ground began to change as well. They were now standing in the ruins of the once-grand William family castle. The surrounding trees were flattened and splintered, the entire landscape torn asunder. In this vast world, only they remained... no—not only them!
The sound of water being sliced echoed loudly, followed by a strange, wet, squelching noise.
At some point, golden fish had appeared in the sky, their scales shimmering orange-red under the sun.
These fish were nothing like ordinary ones. Their sheer size—each one nearly as large as ten grown men combined—was already beyond comprehension.
Their glittering scales and smooth tails undulated gracefully in the air, as though swimming through water, creating an almost beautiful work of art—if not for the expressions on their faces...
The mouths of the fish were smeared with fresh blood; some had dried blood turned black. One of them even had a piece of intestine hanging from its mouth, swaying with each movement.
Their eyes were half the size of their heads, bulging outward. Their bellies were grotesquely bloated, constantly wriggling, as if countless living things were trapped inside.
The creatures twisted through the air, then descended, nibbling at something in the distance.
Looking closely—it was the bodies of two female NPCs! ƒrēenovelkiss.com
Two fish gathered around, their sharp-toothed mouths gnawing and tearing, devouring the corpses until nothing but two clean white skeletons remained.
Suddenly, the four eyes of the two fish widened, their cold, lifeless stares locking straight onto the humans.
"Watch out!"
Cocona suddenly shouted. Simultaneously, a strong gust of wind swept past them—it was the remaining fish! They had distracted the group, waiting for the perfect chance to strike!
Whoosh!
A massive fishtail lashed through the spot where the humans had just stood. With that kind of power, they would’ve been seriously injured if they hadn’t dodged in time!
"These damned pests!"
Cocona said coldly, then raised her hand. The previously clear sky suddenly lit up with streaks of lightning, striking down at the giant fish!
The fish fled at incredible speeds, but they couldn’t outrun lightning no matter how fast they were. In moments, the fish were struck down, reduced to ashes.
"Flying fish think they can escape my lightning?"
Cocona said arrogantly. But then, her expression—and everyone else’s—shifted instantly.
Thud!
A sharp, sickening sound of something piercing flesh echoed. Cocona had tried to dodge, but she wasn’t fast enough. A dagger, wielded by Alice, stabbed near her heart—just a bit closer, and she would’ve died.
The blade was etched with ornate, divine markings—it was unmistakably crafted from the quill gifted to Alice by the Prophet.
Alice’s face was covered in jagged, scaly growths at that moment. One of her eyes had turned into a dead, lifeless fish eye, devoid of light.
"I... I can’t... I can’t control it..."
"Captain... kill me... Just kill me already!"
Alice muttered, her face contorted in confusion before she suddenly screamed like a madwoman, grinning maniacally as she pushed the dagger harder.
CRACK!
A bolt of lightning struck down from the sky, slamming into Alice. Her body smoked as she collapsed onto the ground, unmoving—her fate uncertain.
Yet even so, the divine blade forged from the sacred quill had already dealt a heavy blow to Cocona. Her wound didn’t heal as it usually would. Her esper abilities seemed to be suppressed by the weapon.
Fresh blood poured from Cocona’s chest. Gritting her teeth, she forced herself to stand.
"They’re all being affected by the dungeon... They’ve been corrupted!"
Elsewhere, Benjamin was fending off Ron, while Vale, his face grim, created a light-based magic circle to trap Ron and Alice. No one knew what further effects the dungeon would have on them.
Meanwhile, Leonard was panting, trying desperately to keep his mind from slipping. Everything had descended into chaos.
RUMBLE!
Suddenly, the ground trembled again. A towering wave rose—and standing atop it was Elena herself. Before her, the humans were no more than ants.
Her vicious gaze swept over them as she sneered, "Little brother, isn’t this sight just beautiful?"
Lucian stood beside her, lips curling into a cold smile. "Shall we go down there? I want a closer look at their pathetic faces."
Elena narrowed her eyes, then lowered the towering wave. In an instant, the two of them stood right before the humans.
Cocona clutched her chest, her eyes filled with hatred as she stared at the two monsters in human form.
By now, Vale had successfully trapped Ron and Alice, watching Elena and Lucian with heightened vigilance.
Benjamin leaped forward, shielding Cocona. At the same time, countless arrows of light materialized in midair—so dense they blocked out a portion of the sky! Everything happened incredibly fast. Like a cold and silent hunter, Benjamin said nothing as the arrows shot straight toward Elena and Lucian.
Lucian frowned and instinctively stepped back. Elena, however, remained unmoved. She grabbed her brother’s hand, her voice calm and full of unwavering confidence:
"Do you know why I brought you all here? Because here, I am the lord."
As soon as she finished speaking, the arrows of light—traveling at unimaginable speed—suddenly reversed direction and flew straight back at Benjamin and the others!
Benjamin’s eyes widened. He quickly conjured a shield to defend against his attack.
"Hahaha!"
Elena laughed loudly. But she wasn’t finished. Suddenly, the ground split open, and countless sharp spikes erupted, aiming straight at Benjamin’s group.
Boom! Crash! Kaboom!
Lightning tore through the sky, burning the spikes to ash. Cocona, her face pale and bloodied, endured the pain, her cold gaze locked onto Elena.
At the same time, bolts of lightning converged into a white-purple pillar and surged straight toward Elena!
This was nearly the full-force strike of Cocona’s esper powers.
CRACK! BOOM!
A thunderous explosion rang out as Elena and Lucian’s bodies were engulfed in the blinding light of lightning while dust and debris surged skyward from the violent impact.
Everyone held their breath, waiting for the final result. Would this blow be enough to bury the William siblings—or at least hold them back?
But just as that thought crossed their minds, a violent wind erupted from where the William siblings stood, sweeping outward. The maelstrom dragged with its rocks and dust, growing ever stronger.
And at the storm’s center, Elena and Lucian still stood—completely unscathed.
Elena’s eyes flew open, filled with arrogance and madness. She tilted her head back and laughed wildly:
"I told you already—I am the lord of this place!"
As she shouted, she brought both hands down forcefully. A wave of violent wind surged outward, crackling with electricity, engulfing a radius of over thirty meters!
Everything was blown away and burned—including the humans.
When the dust finally settled, all that remained was a scorched wasteland littered with the bodies of the fallen. Even with Benjamin’s protective barrier, they couldn’t fully withstand Elena’s devastating attack—especially since his shield was no match for her power.
Just as Elena had said—she truly was the ruler of this place.
Watching the humans struggle in the dirt, Elena’s eyes were filled with scorn. She raised her hand as if preparing for the final blow.
But just then, Lucian suddenly grabbed her wrist, forcing her to pause.
Elena turned to him, puzzled.
Lucian looked back at her, speaking softly:
"Sis, the humans are already dealt with. But... what about our parents?"
At that, a look of sorrow and pain flickered in Lucian’s eyes.
"I saw Mother... the humans killed her. What am I supposed to do? Can you bring her back?"
