Chapter 62: Cleaning the warehouse

This was...enhancing the power of one element with another element, the two had complemented each other so well that the outcome was beyond Alex’s imagination.

Currently, all of the ants were stuck in the frozen ice. There were over fifty of them! Some of them were completely frozen and couldn’t even move their heads, while the others only had a part of their bodies stuck in the Ice and were currently trying to break free by gnawing at the ice with their mandibles.

After taking a good look at these ants, Alex realised that they were a bit different from the one that he had killed outside the border. Of course, that was only regarding their size and colour.

These ants had red armour that released a metallic glint, and were only three meters long while reaching a height of one and a half meters; they were really small compared to the other black one that Alex had killed.

Another thing that they noticed was the dark spots on their bodies that looked like dents or burnt marks. It seems like the officers might have tried to fight them after reaching here, but their weapons didn’t work.

"All right, everyone, let’s get rid of these babies before they can free themselves!" Mia’s voice sounded as she took the lead. Directly dashing toward an ant that was closest to her and throwing a punch at its head.

Bang!

Her fist landed heavily on the head of the ant, the ant didn’t have the chance to struggle before its head exploded along with the ice around it.

After dealing with that ant, Mia moved toward another ant.

Seeing this, the other ants began to make loud noises, the speed at which they gnawed at the ice locking them increased.

Selena, Joan, and Phil did not attack the ants like Mia. They used spells instead since their brute force might not be able to pierce through the hard armour protecting the bodies of the ants.

Well, Selena might be able to kill them like that, but she didn’t feel like stressing herself.

She stood in one place as her eyes lit up with purple light, the purple stars of the lightning element appeared above her and connected quickly.

"Lightning strike!"

It was a Core spell of the lightning element. A thin thread of purple lightning that released a destructive pressure shot out from the two star patterns above her and made its way toward the ants that were still struggling to break free.

Bam!

Bam!

Bam!

.....

The lightning strike was as ferocious as always, as it flew in a straight line and killed five ants in its path before exploding near the sixth one, brutally shattering its armour and scorching its inside.

As for the other five, they only had large scorched holes on their bodies, and their insides had been burnt up by the remnants of the lightning strike; they were all dead!

Selena didn’t stop there as she summoned more lightning strikes.

Joan and Phil were not just standing around, either.

Some of the ants had managed to break free and were rushing toward them. Joan had summoned her stars and cast "frozen fangs!"

Three icicles that were half a meter long and three centimetres thick shot out from her pale blue star pattern and flew toward the ants, impaling them to the ground before freezing them completely.

As for Phil, he was using the spell "earth control" with two of his palms on the ground; the range he could cover had definitely reached ten meters, considering how he had managed to impale some ants in the distance by bringing pointed rocks from underneath them.

Those ants that were rushing toward him all had the same fate, they would immediately be impaled from below the moment they crossed a ten-meter radius near him.

In less than one minute, the number of ants left did not reach ten anymore; their killing speed was out of the world!

’The students at the academy are nothing but jokes, this is what a real mage should be like.’ Alex thought to himself as he watched with interest, he was told not to do anything and just watch.

Although he wasn’t happy about this, he still obeyed and stayed at the entrance while they cleaned up the ants.

However, Alex suddenly noticed something at this moment.

A huge wooden shelf that had fallen over was lying close to him on the left, and from behind this shelf were two red glowing eyes that were looking at him. The distance between the two of them wasn’t up to five meters, Alex had missed its arrival because he was too focused on watching the others.

Immediately after realising that it had been discovered, the owner of the red eyes jumped at Alex from its hiding.

It was another ant that was twice the size of the rest!

Alex "..."

Phil, who wasn’t far from Alex, noticed something and turned around. His eyes widened when he saw the huge ant jumping at Alex. he opened his mouth and screamed at the top of his lungs.

"Alex, run!"

His shout attracted the attention of the others, and they turned to see what was happening. Their eyes also widened when they saw that the ant was already above Alex and would fall on him at any moment, but Alex didn’t look like he was prepared to dodge.

He must be too shocked to even move, was what all of them thought.

Aunt Mia’s eyes blazed with a fiery glint as she gritted her teeth before turning around.

At the same time, the ant had finally reached Alex, and its legs were less than a meter away from him.

’So slow,’ Alex thought to himself. He could easily dodge the ant by stepping back, but it would look strange since the others were looking at him, and an Adept mage shouldn’t look so calm in the face of a magic beast.

Especially not one who was supposed to be on his first mission.

So to make it look believable, Alex suddenly dropped to the ground before the ant reached him.

This action allowed the ant to fly above him and land on the other side. Alex rolled on the ground after dodging the ant before getting on one knee, he was now facing the ant.

Suddenly, a three-meter-long water blade appeared from nowhere and crashed into the ant. Slamming it into the natal wall of the warehouse.

Screeeaaaa!

The ant let out a loud sound as it stumbled to maintain balance. The water blade had created cracks on the side of its body, but didn’t manage to penetrate inside.

Alex looked in the direction from which the water blade had appeared and saw Aunt Mia rushing over with a cold look on her face; she was the one who sent the water blade.

Although it was only an Adept spell, it was probably the fastest spell that she could use to save Alex.

Alex was amazed by her reaction speed; that attack would have definitely knocked the ant away had he been unable to dodge.

Returning his focus to the ant in front of him, Alex didn’t hesitate as his eyes lit up with a silver white light, and he stretched his right hand at the beast while his stars appeared behind him.

"Telekinesis."
