Bone Alchemist: Necromancer of The Aberrations-Chapter 67: Core Collapse
Chapter 67: Core Collapse
As the blows continued, another devil approached, trying to catch him off guard.
Of course, it was useless; Jeremy had seen him coming.
His eyes, cold and analytical, had already predicted the enemy’s path of attack. Every movement was read like an open book.
The devil was the one with the Corruption concept.
Unlike the others, his main weapon was a whip, which was not too uncommon among devils.
His weapon tied in well with his concept; after all, he was more of a support type than anything else.
Corruption served to damage the affected creature over time, reducing its speed, strength, stamina, everything.
With enough corruption in its body, the creature might as well have died.
"Corrupting Biting"
The rope stretched unnaturally, approaching the human with incredible speed, making the air whistle as it darted like a hungry snake.
The shadows, which had been trying to block Jeremy’s view, flinched at the last second, allowing the blow to land.
Crack-
A loud crack resounded all around.
The impact echoed like a gunshot, breaking the unnatural silence of the domain for a moment.
But the devil’s expression was not one of happiness but of concern.
The human being had caught the rope in his hands.
But then, a small smile escaped his mouth.
"Eh, it doesn’t matter. You still got hit."
Jeremy’s hand had suddenly turned black. The corruption was taking effect.
The boy studied the effects of the concept on his body, the surprise visible on his face.
The corruption was taking effect. He felt ... weaker?
The effect was so minimal that if it were not for his improved control over his body, he would not have even noticed it.
After all, he was not the same as before.
---
Meanwhile, outside Bone Cathedral, Jeremy’s domain, the battle continued.
But this time there was no one to defend, so Drae’mon, Leo’sol, SuperCannon and Hero could rampage as they wished.
Just as someone else was doing on the battlefield.
The five-headed Aberration was creating destruction everywhere, with countless Rank S devils fleeing.
She was an uncontrollable killing machine.
But this frenzy of hers was costing her dearly.
Every second that passed was being damaged irreparably.
After all, Jeremy was no longer there to ensure their safety.
On the human front, however, the situation seemed much more desperate.
Many had fallen victim to the devils’ attacks. In particular, when the Hellish went on a rampage, the human Rank S struggled to keep them at bay, dying by the dozens before killing them with the help of the Rank EXs.
But they too had their own problems.
In fact, as many as two of their ranks were dead.
And others were cornered.
But no one could do anything to help.
Except for two figures, who were not only facing their opponents, but were also helping others to save them from death.
They were the two imperial consuls.
They were not particularly strong, yet their conceptual power made many things possible.
Aegis and Mirror.
The first involved the creation of shields and barriers, and it was the city barrier created by this concept that was broken by the devils when they arrived.
But not because it was weak, but because the devils’ attack had been too concentrated.
He would have had no trouble withstanding several of their full-power attacks.
The second, Mirror, was about creating teleportation portals. Simple, but super effective.
But despite the usefulness of these concepts, humans were suffering many deaths.
But everything changed when Jeremy’s undead were unleashed. Their power was immense.
They were killing devils left and right without fail.
In particular, Drae’mon was becoming unstoppable.
It was a fact, after all. He could absorb concepts. Of course, absorbing too many would have been useless.
Moreover, once absorbed, it would have been lost forever, no longer obtainable from the devils’ resurrected skeletons.
The black skeleton’s attacks had become impossible to dodge; its speed was insane.
Every bite, every claw, every action of his was imbued with power.
Its laws worked in sync with each other to complete the kill in the shortest possible time.
Their master’s orders were clear.
They were to kill all devils before his exit from Bone Cathedral.
Hero had the ability to change the length of his limbs, lengthening and contracting them by enhancing each of his blows.
His sword-like hands seamlessly cut through devils.
His every blow was strengthened by his ability, Holy Shot.
Then there was SuperCannon. No one could hope to catch up with him. His speed was insane. But that was not all he was.
His attacks came from an insane distance. They were not predictable and landed in an instant.
Many devils were caught off guard.
The only solution was to keep a distance between them.
It was because of this that the battle could last so long.
And finally, there was Leo’sol.
Unlike the others, his power was lacking. But that was because he was facing 5 Rank EX at the same time.
Obviously none of the devils were doing him any significant damage.
His Concept Negation power made him immune to any concept. Moreover, he was adapting to whatever was thrown at him.
Every technique he faced was being analyzed, assimilated and then rendered ineffective.
But Leo’sol was tired of not killing anyone.
And so, driven by visible fury, he decided to attack Rank S, so as to attract the attention of more Rank EXs.
His plan was clear as day.
He wanted to attract them.
Leo’sol’s true power had been kept hidden for too long.
And so, after a minute of killing the weaker devils, a dozen Rank EXs decided to do everything they could to keep him busy.
They isolated him from everyone, taking him away from the Rank S battlefield so they could keep him at bay.
But this had been a mistake.
Leo’sol smiled in horror.
Then-
"Core Collapse."
A thunderous explosion rumbled everywhere.
Time itself seemed to slow down, as if the world was holding its breath. The echoes of the collapse spread in every direction, making every corner of the battlefield tremble.
The creation of a massive scar in space engulfed everything.
Not only the devils, but also reality.
The sky had turned black, looking like the creation of a black hole.
However, seconds later, the gash wrapped around itself, returning the place to normalcy.
Well, normal was not quite the right word.
Everything had been devastated.
No creature was visible, only carcasses floating around.
Gravity had lost its effect.
Leo’sol had blown up along with the devils.
But from the carcasses, something took shape.
A colossus. It was the Aberration.
He could not die with an attack of his own, after all. That would have been embarrassing.
Of the devils, however, nothing in sight.
And with that, Leo’sol returned to the battle.
