Chapter 151: Chapter 151: Compensation

After all, her photo album also had the photos of her and Zane’s intimate moments...

If the hacker uploaded it on the forum she would be done for!

Mandy wouldn’t leave her and make her life hell!

Caroline’s legs felt weak, and she quickly sat down on the nearest chair.

Her face was pale like a ghost’s.

"I... I need to check my phone," she whispered, her hands shaking.

Zane crossed his arms. "You better hope nothing else gets leaked. If my name gets dragged into more stuff, I’m done with you."

Caroline looked at her with wide eyes. "But we did this together!"

"Yeah, but you were the one with the screenshots! I trusted you!" Zane hissed.

Aurora smirked when she saw Caroline’s reaction.

She understood what Caroline was afraid of.

Time for step 2.

Aurora took out her phone and clicked on some buttons before putting it away.

Caroline, who was checking her phone, suddenly saw a message from an unknown number.

"If you don’t want those pictures to be posted on the forum, be a good person and admit that the screenshots were true, in front of the class."

All the colors drained from her face as she looked around.

Her eyes fell on the prime suspect, Aurora, who was nonchalantly talking with Mia.

’Is Aurora the mastermind? But it doesn’t seem so. How could she have money to hire a hacker? As for her being the hacker... it is even more unbelievable.

Maybe it is one of Aurora’s admirers or...my and Mandy’s enemies...’

Mandy leaned in. "What now? You look like you’ve seen a ghost."

Caroline hid the photos and said,

"Nothing...nothing. I just suddenly feel it is better to admit our mistake in front fo the class. In that way, we won’t face too much backlash!"

Mandy stared at Caroline like she had gone crazy.

"What are you saying?! Admit it? Are you out of your mind?!"

Caroline bit her lip hard. Her voice was low.

"Please just this once for me! The hacker has some photos of me..."

"What type of photo?" Mandy asked with furrowed brows, and Zane’s face turned pale.

Caroline bit her lips. She couldn’t tell Mandy...that she(Caroline) has slept with Mandy’s boyfriend, Zane.

Caroline looked down, her fingers twisting the hem of her skirt. "Just... bad ones, okay?"

Zane stepped back like he got hit in the face. "Wait... you mean the ones we...?"

Caroline shot him a sharp look. "Shut up!"

Mandy blinked. "What do you mean ’we’? What’s going on?"

Zane opened his mouth, but nothing came out. He just looked at Caroline, scared and guilty.

Caroline suddenly said,

"My nude photos!"

Mandy’s mouth dropped open. "Your what?!"

Caroline squeezed her eyes shut, her voice barely a whisper. "My... nudes. They were in my photo album."

"So the hacker is threatening to post it if you don’t admit?" Mandy asked.

Caroline nodded.

Mandy gritted her teeth and turned toward Aurora,

"She is the mastermind for sure."

Caroline shook her head and told her guess.

Mandy paused before saying,

"You have a point. Aurora may not be the mastermind...so is it Aurora’s friend or admirer...or they can be our enemies too..."

Ding!

Caroline received another message urging her to take action.

Mandy gritted her teeth and said,

"We can complain to cyberpolice!"

"I-I don’t know... what if they post the photos before the police can do anything?" Caroline whispered, panicking.

"For now... let’s admit that it was our doing, and once we leave, we can hire someone else to hire to hacker." Mandy proposed.

"Alright." Zane agreed.

Caroline felt relieved.

The three of them walked to the center of the class and said, frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

"Everyone, we have something to admit."

All the students looked at them as if they were waiting for a good show.

"We would like to apologize to Aurora for trying upload a fake video of her on porn hub and almost running her reputation. Aurora, we are sorry.

Please don’t hold it against us. We were just doing a prank. You are a generous person, so surely you won’t hold it against us, right?" Caroline said.

The whole class went silent.

You could hear a pin drop.

Aurora slowly stood up from her seat, her arms crossed. Her face didn’t look mad. It looked calm—too calm.

Mia looked at her nervously. "Are you gonna say something?"

Aurora walked to the front of the class and stopped just a few steps away from Caroline, Mandy, and Zane.

"A prank?" Aurora said with a small laugh. "So, trying to ruin my life was just a prank?"

Caroline’s smile started to fade. "W-Well... we didn’t mean to go that far. We just wanted to scare you a little—"

"To post a fake video of me? On a dirty site?" Aurora raised an eyebrow. "That’s your idea of a little scare?"

Zane scratched the back of his neck. "Look, we already apologized. What more do you want?"

Some students in the class started whispering.

"Why would they mess with Aurora like that?"

"They’re so fake!"

"That is disgusting!"

"Indeed."

Aurora didn’t even look at them. She turned to face the class instead.

"I don’t care about their fake apology," she said loudly.

"But just so everyone knows, I’ve already reported what they did. And if anything like this happens again... I’m not staying quiet."

Gasps echoed through the classroom.

Caroline’s face turned pale again. "Y-You what?!"

Aurora smiled.

"The cyberpolice are very helpful, you know. Especially when you show them screenshots, messages, and attempts to ruin someone’s reputation."

Mandy’s face darkened, and she said,

"Aurora, don’t push your luck! We already apologize it should be more than enough! It’s better if you take back the complaint otherwise, I will make sure you will be suspended from the school."

Aurora blinked, then laughed. Not a big loud laugh—just a short one, like Mandy just told the dumbest joke ever.

"You’re gonna get me suspended?" Aurora said, raising one eyebrow. "For what? Being the victim?"

The class was watching like it was a movie.

Mandy stepped forward, her voice rising.

"You’re not so innocent! You probably recreated all those screenshots! You’re just pretending to be the victim!"

Aurora tilted her head. "So... I recreated screenshots you already admitted were real?"

Mandy opened her mouth to say something but then shut it fast. Her face turned red, and her hands were clenched at her sides.

Caroline pulled on Mandy’s sleeve, whispering, "Stop... we’ll make it worse."

But Mandy was too angry to listen. "You think you’re so smart just because you tricked us! Well, don’t forget who runs this school!"

Aurora looked at her like she was a mosquito buzzing in her ear.

Then she pulled out her phone again, pressed something, and turned the screen around.

A recording started playing.

It was their confession. The one they had made just a few seconds before.

"I am going to give this confession to the police, too," Aurora said with a smile.

Mandy was so angry that she wanted to rush to Aurora’s side and beat her.

Caroline held her back and whispered,

"Don’t! We can’t offend her! She has so much evidence in her hand. As long as she takes action, we would be in jail for 6 months or so!"

Zane nodded his head.

"In fact, if you want to take revenge on her. We can just wait for this incident to pass before taking our revenge." Caroline suggested.

Mandy felt Caroline’s words made sense, and she agreed.

She turned toward Aurora and asked,

"What do you want? We are ready to compensate you. "

Then she paused as if thinking something and asked with a smile,

"Surely you won’t ask for money, right? You are so kind and generous. You won’t ask for pennies."

It was a trap.

If Aurora declined to take money, then she would at most, get an insincere sorry in return.

However, if she did ask for money, then everyone would think that Aurora created so much drama just for money.

Aurora smiled and said,

"Indeed, I won’t ask for pennies."

Caroline, Mandy, and Zane heaved a sigh of relief.

"I would ask for dollars instead." Auror continued.

Mandy’s smile froze on her face.

"W-What?"

Aurora didn’t stop smiling.

"Yeah. I want real money. Not pennies. Not fake sorrys. Real cash. After all it was me who had suffered, not you. It might be easy for you to say that I should be kind and generous but only I know how I felt."

Knowing they can’t escape the monetary compensation, Caroline stammered, "H-How much do you want?"

Aurora tapped her chin like she was thinking. "Hmm... let’s say... $5000 each."

"WHAT?!" Mandy almost screamed. "That’s too much!"

"You tried to ruin my name. You almost put a fake video of me on a gross site. That’s not worth just five bucks and a handshake." Aurora said calmly.

"But we’re students!" Caroline said, panicking. "Where are we supposed to get that much?"

Aurora smiled. "Should’ve thought of that before trying to mess with me."
