Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 174: Chats And Recording
Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Chats And Recording
"He didn’t...he dumped all of his debts on me, left me, and even tortured me, just so I don’t ruin his bright future...haha! What a fool I am..." Adeline laughed.
At first her laughter was loud, but gradually it turned into choked sobs. Her heart was twisting in pain.
She couldn’t understand how someone could change so much.
Adriana was stunned hearing Adeline’s story. She believed Adeline would lie to her and tell her a fake story.
She even wanted to call Adeline a liar. However, the pain and despair in Adeline’s eyes made her realize how blind she was.
She trusted everything Henry had said to her.
Adriana didn’t know what to say.
She just sat there, quietly watching Adeline cry. The hospital room felt too quiet.
The only sound was Adeline’s soft sobbing and the little hum of the air conditioner.
Adeline wiped her tears with the back of her hand and gave a small, embarrassed smile.
"Sorry," she whispered. "I didn’t mean to cry like that."
Adriana shook her head.
"No, it’s okay," she said gently. "You’ve been through so much. Anyone would cry."
There was silence between them for a few seconds. Adriana stared at the floor, thinking about everything she had just heard.
"Adeline," Adriana said softly, "can I ask you something?"
Adeline looked up. Her eyes were still red, but she nodded.
"Did Henry ever... hit you before? Or hurt you in other ways?"
Adeline looked away. Her hands tightened into fists on her lap.
"Yes," she said in a quiet voice.
"But I always forgave him. I thought... maybe he was just angry. Or stressed. But last night was the worst."
Adriana felt a heavy weight settle in her chest. She suddenly felt sick.
She had stood by Henry’s side. She had defended him. And the whole time, he had been lying to her.
Adeline looked at her and asked carefully,
"Why are you asking all this? Are you... Someone close to him?" freewёbnoνel.com
Adriana froze.
She didn’t know what to say. She couldn’t say she was Henry’s girlfriend. Not now.
So, she just said, "I was... someone who trusted him."
Adeline nodded slowly.
"That makes sense," she said. "He’s good at pretending. He made me believe he loved me. That was how he convinced me to take over all of his debt."
Adriana bit her lips and asked,
"What debts? And do you have proof?"
Adeline nodded and took out her phone,
"Here is a recording and chats."
Adriana stared at the phone screen, her hands starting to shake.
She scrolled through the chats. Some of Henry’s messages were sweet at first—just like any boyfriend’s. But then... they changed.
There were messages where Henry begged Adeline to help him pay off his loans.
There were messages where he promised to pay her back, to marry her, to never leave her.
Then came the ones where he was angry.
"You’re so useless!" one message said.
"If you don’t help me, I’ll tell everyone you’re crazy," said another.
Adriana’s heart dropped.
She tapped the play button on a recording. Henry’s voice came through the speaker, cold and harsh.
"You better keep your mouth shut, Adeline. If you tell anyone, I will ask your father to teach you a good lesson."
Adriana couldn’t speak. Her mouth was dry. Her stomach hurt like she had just swallowed a rock.
She had trusted Henry with her heart. And now... she felt like a fool.
Everything she believed was a lie.
"He used you..." Adriana whispered, eyes still fixed on the screen. "He really used you..."
Adeline gave a small, sad nod.
"I hope no other girl gets scammed by him again!"
Those words echoed in Adriana’s ears.
She was silent for a long while before sending the chats and recording to her number. She wanted to check everything one last time.
Before leaving, Adriana turned toward Adeline and said softly,
"I am sorry, Adeline. I owe you. One day I will repay you."
With that, she turned around and left.
She looked as if her soul was sucked out.
Adeline watched Adriana’s back and felt bittersweet.
She was bitter for not being able to dodge a bullet like Henry and felt sweet because Adriana wasn’t entitled and even apologized to her.
To the people like her, who were living at the bottom of society, their dignity was more important than anything.
Adriana and Miss Dawn never challenged her dignity and even maintained it...they were good people.
Just then, her phone rang. Adeline clicked on the receiving button and said,
"Miss Dawn, I have told her everything, and she has forwarded the recordings and chat screenshots to her phone number. Maybe she is going to conduct a last check."
On the other end, Aurora heaved a sigh of relief and said,
"Alright. Thank you."
"Miss Dawn, please don’t thank me. I should be the grateful one." Adeline said.
Aurora paused, taking a deep breath she informed,
"I just got a reply from my subordinate, your father has been caught and will be sent to the other side of the world. We will stage everything...do you want to see him last time?"
Adeline’s eyes flickered with joy.
She could finally get rid of her gambling father.
Taking a deep breath, she asked,
"Once...he goes to the other end of the world, would he ever be able to return?" Adeline asked fearfully.
"No. I will make sure that he will never have enough money to come back." Aurora reassured.
"That’s enough! I don’t want to see him last time...as for my mother...it would be better if she doesn’t see him too!" Adeline said.
Suddenly, the injuries she had sustained from the previous night seemed not so painful.
Adriana sat in her car, her mind spinning.
She parked her car and stared at her phone.
She had already forwarded the chats and the recording from Adeline’s phone to her own number.
Now she had to know the truth for sure.
Adriana walked into a small tech shop in the city that offered help with digital records. The sign outside said "Data Specialists."
Inside, it smelled like new wires and coffee. A man in glasses greeted her.
"Can I help you?" he asked kindly.
