Chapter 186: Chapter 186: Spencer’s Anger

Betsy rushed ahead, swinging the back door of the sleek black Aston Martin Vanquish open. Aurora had just lifted a foot to step in when Betsy suddenly slipped inside, dragging Dana along with her.

"Ah, sorry, Aurora!" Betsy said with a bright, fake smile. "Maybe you can, like, hail a taxi or something?"

Before Aurora could even react, Spencer’s voice cut through the air, sharp as a blade.

"Get out," he said coldly.

Betsy’s face froze, the color draining from her cheeks. She gawked at Spencer as if he had slapped her.

"I said, get out," Spencer repeated, his tone leaving no room for argument. "Or I’ll drag you out myself."

Dana, sensing the rising tension, hurriedly tugged on Betsy’s arm. "Come on, Betsy," she whispered frantically.

Feeling everyone’s eyes on her, Betsy slid out of the car reluctantly, dragging Dana with her. She looked like she wanted to protest, but Spencer was already ignoring her, moving toward Aurora.

With a gentleness that shocked everyone, he opened the passenger seat door for her and held it wide.

Betsy pouted as she watched. "You said the front seat was reserved for special people!" she whined.

Spencer didn’t even blink. "She is a special person," he said simply, his voice steady and sure.

Aurora, however, stood frozen. She didn’t move to sit in the car. She just stared at Spencer, uncertain.

Spencer’s eyes softened. "Come on," he urged her quietly, his voice dipping low, meant only for her. "It’s okay."

Aurora bit the inside of her cheek, suppressing the strange thudding of her heart, and finally slid into the seat without a word.

Satisfied, Spencer closed the door gently and turned toward the others.

"If anyone else wants to ride along, the back seat’s free," he said.

Mia’s eyes lit up. She quickly pointed at Dana. "Can she come with me?"

Dana looked stunned, glancing between Betsy, Aurora, and Spencer.

Just when Dana seemed stuck in awkward silence, Luca walked up, swinging his motorcycle keys around his finger casually.

"I’ll bring my girlfriend with me," Luca said with a smirk. "Dana, you should go with Mia."

Dana let out a small breath of relief and quickly nodded.

Betsy, meanwhile, looked downright miserable.

She glared at Spencer like he had personally ruined her day. But before she could say anything more, Luca tugged her away.

As they walked toward Luca’s motorcycle, an awkward silence stretched between them. Then Luca spoke, voice low and cool.

"What exactly are you trying to do, Betsy?" he asked sharply.

"Acting like a desperate ’pick-me’ in front of Spencer? I’m still your boyfriend, remember?"

Betsy rolled her eyes dramatically.

"Don’t be so insecure, Luca. I was just admiring Spencer. It’s not like I’m actually throwing myself at him."

"You are acting like a pick-me," Luca said bluntly. "And don’t forget, Aurora’s our target. She’s the real big shot here. If you piss her off now, we lose our chance to get on her good side."

Betsy’s face twisted slightly in irritation, but she bit her lip and finally gave a stiff nod. "Fine. I get it."

Meanwhile, back in Spencer’s car, the atmosphere was lighter.

Mia, seated comfortably in the backseat, leaned forward between the two front seats.

"Aurora, do you have any style in mind for homecoming? Like elegant? Hot? Fairy tale?"

Aurora, who had been quietly watching the scenery pass by, gave a small shrug. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

"Nothing too flashy. Maybe simple, clean lines. Something that won’t trip me if I have to run."

Spencer chuckled from the driver’s seat. "Always so practical."

Aurora glanced at him, lips twitching in a tiny, reluctant smile.

"Maybe I just don’t trust you guys not to cause a scene."

Mia laughed. "That’s smart, honestly."

The drive passed in easy conversation after that.

Occasionally, Spencer would offer comments or gently tease Aurora, who would respond dryly, making Mia giggle.

Before long, they pulled into the familiar parking lot of Harmony Mall — the same upscale place where Aurora had shopped before.

As they stepped out of the car, the bright glass façade of the mall gleamed under the afternoon sun.

Luca and Betsy finally caught up with the group outside the shining glass entrance of Harmony Mall. Betsy’s demeanor had completely shifted.

Her usual snarky attitude was nowhere to be seen. Instead, she was smiling sweetly, almost... too sweetly.

She stepped forward and bowed her head slightly toward Aurora.

"I’m really sorry, Aurora," she said in a soft, apologetic tone. "I shouldn’t have acted so arrogantly earlier."

Aurora stared at her without any expression.

Betsy quickly turned to Spencer, too. "I’m sorry to you as well, Spencer."

Spencer didn’t even look at her.

He adjusted the watch on his wrist, his cold, indifferent attitude making it clear he didn’t accept her apology—or even care.

Aurora finally opened her mouth, her voice calm and flat.

"I don’t need your apology."

The words hit harder than a slap. Betsy’s smile froze on her lips, but before the atmosphere could sink into something even more uncomfortable, Mia clapped her hands brightly.

"Alright, guys! How about we stop standing here like statues and actually go inside?" she said, her tone bubbly.

Everyone nodded, and the tension eased a little as they entered the mall.

Inside, the smell of expensive perfume and fresh coffee filled the air.

High-end boutique windows shimmered with glamorous displays, and the floors gleamed under the soft lights.

As they walked past a jewelry store, Betsy stepped closer to Aurora, pretending to admire a diamond necklace.

"As an apology," Betsy said sweetly, "let me buy you something, Aurora. Anything you want."

Anyways, whatever she spent on Aurora today would be returned 10-fold in the future.

Aurora raised an eyebrow, her arms crossed loosely over her chest. "No, thanks," she said without hesitation.

But Betsy wasn’t ready to give up.

"Come on," she insisted. "Please. I’ll feel bad if you don’t let me make it up to you. I will feel as if you haven’t forgiven me yet."
