Chapter 223: Conversations

Jules’ pov

Kim ignored my question and remained in the same spot as the elevator door slid close.

My mind traveled to the last elevator ride I shared with Kim and Xander, and I realized that I should have figured this out sooner.

"Won’t you type in the code?" Kim asked and my gaze darted towards him. He nodded at the touch screen pad waiting to be imputed with a certain floor number. Kim could probably tell that I was confused.

"Put in the code that would take you to Blaze’s floor. That’s the floor you’re going to, no? That floor needs a code since it solely belongs to Blaze." He explained and I let out an understanding sound.

I didn’t know the code because I never bothered to focus on it whenever I was in an elevator with Blaze, which was solely his fault because he was always distracting me with kisses every time.

After I told Kim I didn’t know the code, he let out an exasperated sigh and I scowled at him.

"You can just be on your way, you don’t have to look out for me. I’ll head back to my friend’s or something." I tell him, tone defensive but he only rolled his eyes before imputing the third floor into the touch pad.

Once the elevator stopped, he stepped out and turned around to give me a long look. "Well, what are you waiting for? Cmon out."

"Why?" I inquired in confusion.

"Because you’d just wait in my apartment until Blaze comes back. That’s better than you returning back to the dorms. And about what you previously said, I do have to look out for you, Blaze’s orders." On getting to the last part, his expression soured and I winced a little as I stepped out of the elevator.

I didn’t want him to look out for me, and I’m hoping I’d be strong enough to protect myself sooner than later.

As Kim typed in the code of his door, I let my eyes wander around the hallway.

"This building is quite big." I tell him and he chuckled a little.

"Of course it is. This school has a lot of special students after all." He responded as he pushed his door open and waved me in.

The interior wasn’t as exquisite as Blaze’s, but it didn’t look cheap. It still looked very good, although it feels cold and gloomy inside.

"Are you seriously dating Xander?" I asked as I trailed after him. He stepped into his kitchen and retrieved water from the tap. His fridge was completely empty when he opened it, and I noticed that the kitchen looked like it has never been used.

"Why are you so curious? You want him along with Blaze?" He asked on turning towards me and I reared back as a rush of disgust flowed through my inside.

"What? Of course not!" I tell him at once, and then I folded my arms and rolled my eyes.

"I was only asking because... how can you be dating Xander of all people?? He literally tried assaulting me."

Kim pursed his lips, not looking fazed one bit.

"You’re one to talk, think your own mate is any better?" He shot back and I instantly blanched, eyes widening in horror.

"What?" I whispered in disbelief, stepping closer to him.

"H- has my mate ever assaulted anyone?!" I whispered, my mind reeling with a thousand thoughts at once.

Kim remained silent and kept on staring at me and after a bit, I felt my knees wobble a little.

Kim finally let out a long breath before walking past me, but I instantly whirled around and trailed after him again.

"Blaze might be a lot of things... but I don’t think he has forced anyone to get into his bed before." He finally responded as he got into the sitting room and I heaved out a deep, relieved breath.

Phew.

"Everyone might be scared of him, but most omegas still want to get into his bed despite that. People love danger, they sometimes crave that thrill, and Blaze provides a lot of it, so there’s always way too many people lining up to get into his bed for him to force anyone." He explained as he sank into one of the couches in his sitting room.

As I digested all he was saying, I sank into the second couch in the sitting room. There were only two couches in here and I silently wondered if he usually had visitors over, because it doesn’t seem like it at all.

"That’s- that’s good then, because I can’t be with someone who forces people." I finally mumbled and Kim laughed a little as he regarded me.

"So Blaze doesn’t force you to do anything?" He asked and I instantly shook my head. freēwēbnovel.com

"He doesn’t, he has never." I responded firmly, heart clenching at the thought of my mate.

Kim hummed and nodded slowly.

"To answer your first question, no... Xander and I aren’t dating." He finally clarified, and then he rolled his eyes.

"But we’ve fucked a few times, which means nothing serious." He continued and I bit on my bottom lip while shrugging a little, unsure of what to say to that.

Silence began to stretch between the two of us before he broke it by asking me a question.

"So, where are you from, Jules?" He asked and I stiffened, heartbeat instantly accelerating.

"Why do you ask?" I questioned as I eyed him skeptically.

He shrugged a little. "Just curious because nothing really came up when we looked you up. You know this is usually done on certain preys who we’re ordered to pimp out, but you didn’t end up getting pimped out anyway since Blaze intervened." He continued.

My eyes widened a little. "You guys in the fraternity really do pimp out some omegas to creepy adults?" I whispered in disbelief and a cloudy feeling settled across Kim’s face now.

He appeared to be deep in thoughts for a few moments.

"I don’t owe you any explanation, but... I need you to understand that I don’t control anything that goes down in the fraternity." He finally spoke up and my eyes widened, which made him scoff.

"What? You think I control shit that goes down there? You think I want to see scared omegas get themselves off in the name of an initiation ritual? I’m not that depraved." He continued with an eye roll as he slumped against the backrest of the couch he was sitting in.

This whole time I thought he was the one calling the shots, I didn’t know that wasn’t the case at all.

"So... who calls the shot?" I asked and he shrugged.

"I don’t know. I haven’t seen the person before. They pass messages to me through texts, that’s all." He revealed and after trying to find traces of lying on his face and finding none, I realized that he was being honest.

This new revelation is mind blowing.

"This should just be between us though, I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone. I don’t even know why I told you." He suddenly spoke up after a few minutes and I assured him that I wasn’t gonna tell anyone.

"For what it’s worth, I wish you wouldn’t lose your life in this whole mess connecting us together." I broke the small silence this time and he flashed me a small smile.

"For someone whose life i put in danger, you sure do care about me. That’s making me feel very flattered." He drawled and I blushed, feeling a little dumb but unable to explain why I’ve always been feeling this way towards him.

"For what it’s worth, I wished I didn’t deceive you that evening and convince you to get into Eugene’s car. I don’t think you deserve to be in danger or lose your life since you’re literally never hurt anyone before." He breathed out and I felt my heart ache a little.

Elio’s cute face materialized in my head in the next moment and I silently hoped nothing would happen to him. Infact, I’m gonna make sure nothing happens to him, because like Kim just said, Elio has also never hurt anyone before.

"What can I do if my friend is in danger because of me?" I suddenly asked before I could stop myself. Kim is knowledgeable and smart as hell, he’s the best person I could ask about this aside from Blaze.

Kim’s eyebrows arched and he leaned forward. "Are you being blackmailed to do something you don’t want in order to protect your friend?" He slowly asked and I huffed with a small nod. He hummed slowly as he pushed his hair out of his face.

"Is this friend aware that he’s in danger?"

I shook my head once again.

"Good, because he’s gonna hate you and blame you for it, then he wouldn’t want to be around you any longer, not knowing that it won’t make a difference." He spoke and I bit my bottom lip, chest pinching tight at the thought of Elio hating me.

"So, what do you suggest I do?"

Kim gave me a lazy shrug. "Just let him die."
