Blaze’s pov

Kim handed his phone to me and I glanced over the texts littering his phone. It was a handful and they were all threats.

Chris: If you stall your death, I’m gonna make it hurt more for you.

Chris; if you want me to give you a quick and easy death, then you must come over tonight.

Chris: I’ll make it quick and easy for you since I’d get to fuck your incompetent ass tonight.

Chris: that’s all you were good for anyway. A great lay and nothing more.

Chris: be at the address unfailingly by tonight. You know you can’t run from this, there’s no one to protect you, your family hates you and that’s convenient for me. Even if you try hiding, I’ll dig you out before the end of tomorrow and that’s definitely gonna hurt by then.

I grimaced as I glanced away from the phone. He had a flat expression on when our eyes locked and I handed his phone over to him.

"You let Chris fuck you?" I echoed and I watched as he scoff, his expression tightening right before he jutted his chin out.

"It was either that or I get killed, it wasn’t like I had a vhoice." He didn’t look embarrassed as he explained, he only looked angry and a little irritated. He pocketed his phone and let out a long sigh. I watched as he and Roy exchanged a glance, right before they both looked away.

I slid my hands down my mate’s back, massaging his sides and shifting him around a little to ensure he was very comfortable. It seemed like he had dozed off a little and I believed he must be very tired after the amount of powers he used today. novelbuddy.cσ๓

"So, you’re getting killed tonight, huh?" I drawled after a few minutes, watching as Kim only shrugged in response before glancing away. As I watched him, I still didn’t feel any ounce of pity for him, although on remembering how he spoke about my mate when we had been searching for him, that made my train of thoughts flatter a little.

I knew Roy wanted to say something, I could feel his eyes on me, but he didn’t end up saying anything. His phone rang and he ended up exiting the sitting room to go see to it. Kim exited the room shortly after that as well, leaving me alone with my mate.

I let out a long breath and let my eyes slid close. The emptiness on my chest was starting to bite at my wolf, it was tense and uncomfortable inside of me because the bond we shared with our mate was unavailable. It was like it disappeared. The mate mark I gave labyrinth was no longer bleeding, but because I didn’t want to overwhelm him just yet, I refrained from nearing the mark just yet. My arms tightened around his waist as my chest expanded a little, the realization that I might have lost him today if it wasn’t for the bond which helped me locate him sent chills down my spine and my arms automatically tightened around him.

I reminded myself that he was here with me, in my arms, safe and sound, and that I had nothing to be worried about right now. That helped my hold on him relax a little.

When I glanced down at him, I realized that he was staring at me and wasn’t asleep like I had assumed. His eyes were blown wide and the look in his eyes blew my mind and knocked the breath out of my lungs. I slid my palms across his side and cleared my throat which felt very dry.

"Bunny? Is something wrong?" I asked carefully. After all that happened back in that garden, it felt like he was yet to return back to his normal self. He was very quiet and was yet to speak to anyone except me and I believed it had to do with him being overwhelmed.

He blinked once, and for a moment, I briefly wondered if something was wrong. Before I could begin to fuss over him, he spoke.

"Are- are you gonna let Kim die?" He asked, voice soft and featherlight and I let out a sigh, I should have known he had listened in on that conversation.

I regarded him closely, eyes trailing over his slightly parted lips before locking with his eyes.

"He put your life in danger, bunny. Remember? He almost had you abducted and probably killed." I spoke calmly, not wanting to startle him in any way.

He was silent for about a minute before speaking. "But that was in the past."

My head dropped backwards for a few moments before I let out a loud sigh. Of course Labyrinth wasn’t gonna want Kim to die, he had always wanted to protect him long before today.

"It still–"

"Don’t let him die. Please, save him." He whispered, cutting into my words. As I stared at him, at his blinking blue eyes, something clenched within my chest and I reached a hand up to cup his cheek. His eyes fluttered close as he leaned into my touch like an actual bunny.

My heart clenched up again.

How can I refuse him anything he asked of me this way? That was borderline impossible at this point and if Roy was present and the atmosphere was light, he’d have teased me about me being ridiculously whipped.

"Will you save him?" He asked after finally blinking his eyes open and I hesitated for a moment before finally nodding, while my thumb stroked his soft cheek.

"Yes, bunny. I will. Not because I care about him, but only because of you." I revealed and his blue eyes lightened up, and then he smiled brightly like he just won the lottery.

He whispered a long line of thanks and littered kisses across my neck. When I pulled him into my arms once again, I felt extremely fulfilled, and like I had just made a right decision.
