Blaze’s pov

Labyrinth has changed.

It wasn’t in a bad way, it was in a maddening good way.

He was no longer timid or shy or self conscious. He was confident and exuded so much fierceness that it was almost overwhelming. As I watched people wave and scream his name while he transported us all in the air with the help of magic since I couldn’t teleport us because I didn’t know what where we were currently headed looked like, it hit me that he had drastically changed.

I guess now I’m gonna have to come to terms with that fact. The mate who I had to protect from everything including his own self was nowhere to be found and in his place was this confident young man who was now so matured. He wasn’t even a prince anymore, he was now a freaking king and he was doing a really great job at that from the looks of things. The people of this clan definitely wouldn’t love him this way if he was maltreating them, and that’s the last thing labyrinth would ever do.

When we got to the palace, I was consumed with surprise at how big the palace of the warlock clan is. When he settled us on the ground, the magical bubble around us disappeared and my mate exhaled slowly. I was standing beside him almost immediately, draping my arms across his shoulders and pulling him against my chest. I had missed doing that and now I wasn’t sure I’d be able to stop. He peered up at me and color dusted his cheeks as he leaned into me. I was certain he had missed this even more than me since he had to still keep on living while suffering through my absence, compared to me who wasted away in a cave.

"Your majesty." A few voices chores out, pulling me out of my thoughts and my eyes settled on about five men bowing their heads at my mate.

"Rise, please." He told them with an easy wave of his hand. I expected him to try getting out of my hold because of embarrassment but he did none of that. Instead, his hand settled against my bicep as he continued.

"Tell the council leader to summon the rest of the members as fast as possible, I have an important announcement to make to them." He told them and paused before continuing.

"And see to it that I am not disturbed." He continued and the men dressed in matching cloaks bowed again before leaving our presence.

"That was sexy." I tell him and he beamed up at me, eye’s crinkling. "Watching you address them like that."

"Well, what can I say? Ruling a kingdom would make you have that kind of confidence... although that’s something to you were naturally born with." He drawled and I snorted at the end of his sentence.

"Seriously, welcome back, man." A familiar voice said beside me followed by a shoulder bump and I glanced sideways at a grinning Roy. In all honesty, it had pleased me immensely that Roy still stuck to my mate’s side from the looks of things for the past six months, even in my absence, because Labyrinth was my mate, he still remained loyal to him even when he didn’t have to. If that wasn’t love, I wasn’t sure of what love is then.

I clapped him on the shoulder and tugged him against my side. "How can I repay you, brother? Not everyone would have stayed by my mate’s side this whole time." I said to him right after Labyrinth slipped out of my hold to go speak to Kim. Right now, they were walking a few feet in the front of us, side by side and clearly in a conversation.

"Are you nuts? Of course you don’t have to repay me. I stayed with him because I knew he’d need all the help he could get, and I also believed you’d one day return because I just knew there was no way you’d go forever without returning to the boy you’re head over heels for." He paused. "And because he’s also my friend, so it was something of my own free will." He explained earnestly and I felt emotional that I felt the urge to pull him into a hug. I was never overly emotional with Roy before, and we’ve hugged once today. Would it be so bad if I hug him again?

Well, fuck it.

I stopped and tugged him into a hug, squeezing his shoulders tight while feeling extremely grateful that indeed, I had a brother in him.

"I love you, man." I tell him, genuinely meaning it and he returned the words, but he wore a wide grin when we separated. He wiggled his brows once we resumed walking and I knew he was trying to diffuse the emotions in the air. freёnovelkiss.com

"So, did spending six months in the cave made you grow soft and mushy?" He wagged his brows again and I scowled at it but a fond feeling was still within me as I shoved him away from my side.

"Careful else I’d punch you." I said to him but he only snickered before righting himself beside me again.

"I’ve genuinely missed this so much. It’s good to have you back. At least now your mate wouldn’t have to get married to someone else for the sake of his throne." He offered and I stumbled to a stop.

"What?" I gritted out.

"The council members were almost starting to pressure him to get a partner in order to produce an heir for the throne, but your mate had been against it from the onset." He explained and a wave of possessiveness rushed through me as my eyes settled on him still walking straight ahead beside Kim.

"Fuck the royal council, they’re definitely gonna have to answer to me. He doesn’t need a fucking heir, or a fuck ass mate." I growled in irritation.

"But since you’re here right now, you can just mate him again and knock him up..."

I shook my head firmly.

"He can’t have children, which is a fucking good thing. Who wants kids anyway?"
