"Are you okay though? You’ve looked out of it since morning." I said and Kim cleared his throat before slowly nodding. He was clearly being dishonest and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t getting frustrated with him. I wanted to shake him hard and ask him what the darm problem was and what it was that was actually holding him back, but I refrained from doing that, choosing to swallow the next question on my tongue, especially after remembering my agreement with Blaze. We were to not get involved.

"Did you know where exactly Roy went?" Kim’s next question tugged me out of my thoughts and I wore a neutral expression on as I shook my head. I actually didn’t know where he went, but if I knew, I wasn’t sure it would make any difference if I reveal it to Kim. He bit on his bottom lip for a moment before sighing.

"Did he go alone? Or with Archie?" He asked and the reason why he was asking these questions suddenly made sense. It was because he was clearly worried Roy was someone spending his rut somewhere.

I shook my head with a sympathetic smile on.

"No idea."

Kim and I sat in silence till he mentioned wanting to rest. Instead of riding up and leaving, I closed the distance between us and took his hand in mine to squeeze around it. I didn’t need to say a thing, this was assurance enough.

After that, I slipped off his bed and existed his bedroom.

I was walking down the hallway when I ran into Raine who was coincidentally coming to find me. She requested that I accompany her to her chambers, and as I helped her heal her cat who almost died after having seven kittens. As I worked, she was crouched beside me, watching me intently as I worked. She had expressed wishing she had the power to heal countless times but sadly, as a welder of dark magic, it was impossible for her to be able to possess a gift like this.

"By the way, the fates would like to see you tonight." She informed me and I startled, almost dropping the kitten I was petting. It was the one that stood out to me the most, it was the smallest and the weakest, it reminded me of myself when I just got thrown into carnivals.

"The fates?" I blurted, still reeling in shock. The fate is a being that sees the past, the present and the future and it resides here in the demon clan. Blaze has spoken to me about it so I knew about it, but it was shocking to me because I assumed it only saw and spoke to people possessing dark magic.

And I’d be lying if I claim to not be nervous. However, Raine laughed at my facial expression and assured me that I had nothing to be worried about because the being was completely harmless.

I nodded quietly and then I nodded at the kitten I was still stroking.

"Can I take him with me when leaving tomorrow?" I asked and she nodded.

"Of course you can." She instantly agreed and I flashed her a grateful smile before brushing a kiss against the kitten’s forehead.

When I met up with Blaze and told him the fates had requested to see me, I had admitted that I was nervous and of course, he instantly offered to come with me.

However, Raine vehemently refused to let him come with me and she kept insisting that the journey of the fates is meant for a person at a time and that the only times two people are allowed through is if the fates requested it themselves.

Blaze wasn’t happy about this as he and Raine led me down the lane leading the the room of the fates, with blaze still trying to convince Raine to let him come with me.

"You should come speak to a few more people tonight. You’ve stayed here for days now but you’re still yet to meet all your cousins because all of them weren’t around till tonight. Come say hello!" Raine all but ordered and Blaze groaned, clearly not wanting to leave.

"Just how many cousins do we even have?" He grumbled and I laughed softly before assuring him that I’d be fine even though I was undoubtedly nervous.

The room of the fates was very dark and I was nervous. I tried lighting the place up with my magic and it didn’t work, which instantly made me begin to panic, but the a voice spoke.

"Relax, child. That won’t work in here." The voice felt like it was layered with hundreds others, just as the darkness began to slowly lighten up till everywhere was brightened.

My heartbeat quickened as I glanced around. No one was present, and it seemed like the voice was coming from thin air.

"Listen attentively, child." The voice began. "There’s danger ahead of you. Deep, strong danger. It wants you dead. It wants your mate dead. It wants your clan wiped out." As the voice spoke, I felt shaken to the very core, so shaken up that I felt my legs wobble and while my heart lurched into my throat.

"There are people who want you dead in your clan, people who want to see you fall. However, it’s your duty and destiny to find these people and take care of them, in order to prevent a war from breaking out." The voice continued and I began to sweat buckets.

"But fret not, child. You’re going to succeed undoubtedly." The voice added but I still found it hard to breathe.

"You and your mate are gonna usher in a very powerful next generation. From birth; they’re gonna inherit so many enemies because of the power they’d possess."

I blinked in confusion, wondering what this voice meant. Last I checked, I couldn’t have kids, so what was this voice talking about?

Could it be surrogacy? Raine and I had spoke about it once when discussing the future. I had never thought of this option until Raine brought it up.
