CEO's Sweetheart is a Super Idol-Chapter 32 - 30: Setting the Trap
Chapter 32: Chapter 30: Setting the Trap
"Yuwei, did we gain a lot of followers today?"
"Yes!"
"Did the fans give us more than 60,000 drumsticks?"
"Yes!"
"Haha! Haha!" Li Jiaqi, hiding under the blanket, suddenly hugged Ye Yuwei and laughed joyfully.
"What are you doing? Let go of me, you’re going to strangle me!"
"Yuwei, I’m really so happy. Are we finally about to make it big?" Li Jiaqi suddenly became extremely serious and asked.
Though she can’t see the person opposite her, Ye Yuwei knows her friend is definitely staring blankly at her.
"Maybe. But we must be cautious; who knows what schemes those people are brewing." Ye Yuwei also reminded her seriously.
"You’re right. Now is not the time to celebrate; our foundation is still unstable."
While the two were discussing this.
In the dance practice room upstairs, Yu Qingjia and several others were sitting there, dejected.
They couldn’t believe that the situation they had worked so hard to build had just been shattered by the other side.
"Looks like our Shenghai Center is going to produce another legend this year." Xu Mengchen said with a bitter smile.
"Hmph! She might be done for as soon as tomorrow." Zhang Yu said venomously.
"Everything we’ve worked for has just become a stage for her. That Ye Yuwei is incredibly sly. Today, she didn’t use her own account to gain followers but used Li Jiaqi’s account instead." Yu Qingjia said grimly.
"What’s the difference?" Zhang Yu looked puzzled.
"Of course there’s a difference. If she used her own account, then all the followers gained today would belong to her. Using Li Jiaqi’s account means the fans are CP (couple pairing) fans of theirs. Do you know what our company relies on to get famous?" Yu Qingjia’s cold voice cut like a blade.
"Moreover, by doing this, she also helped Li Jiaqi gain a wave of followers. If Li Jiaqi gets a good rank in this year’s general election, then she’ll have a truly influential ally. She could rival us directly and negotiate better terms with the company." Yu Qingjia continued.
"Damn, never realized how cunning Ye Yuwei could be. I used to see her smile at everyone, always helping others whenever they had problems. Turns out she’s a smiling tiger." Zhang Yu clenched his teeth and hit the floor with a fist.
"Sister Yu, are we just going to let this happen? Watch her rise?" Zhang Yu continued.
"We don’t have a choice. The key thing is, the company is backing her now." Yu Qingjia sighed.
There was another line she hadn’t revealed: because of the last strike incident, the company is now looking to recruit obedient, non-troublesome idols to replenish the top-tier team.
"What does Big Sis have to say?" Zhang Yu asked, as Lu Bingbing was out on an assignment today.
"Big Sis told us to keep quiet and stop creating trouble. The strike incident cannot be brought up again." Yu Qingjia replied.
After discussing for some time, the group dispersed.
Yu Qingjia didn’t leave immediately; instead, she pulled out the phone from her pocket.
The speakerphone was already on.
"Big Sis, are we really going to let Ye Yuwei rise?"
"Hmph! It’s not that easy. Ye Yuwei wants to use CP to climb to the throne? Then we’ll break them up!"
"Big Sis, what should we do?"
"Yu Manting has always wanted to stir up CP rumors with Ye Yuwei. Why not make it happen?"
"Ye Yuwei’s closest friends here are those two. We’ll make them fight each other."
Yu Qingjia thought about it and couldn’t help but exclaim with joy, "Big Sis, you’re the most ingenious."
"Besides, the company’s attitude toward us is ambiguous right now. We have to find a way to save ourselves."
"Big Sis, how do we do that?"
"I have my ways. When the time comes, just follow my lead and act the part."
Beiyuan Club.
Though its name sounds ordinary, it is one of Shenghai’s most secretive dens of luxury.
"Ningning, relax a bit. The manager here, Sister Li, is really nice." Dressed in a Lolita outfit, Lv Zhao smiled at Lan Yening, who seemed a bit tense.
"Okay!"
Lan Yening sat in the flower hall, barely daring to look up. The girls walking back and forth were dressed provocatively.
"Zhaozhao, your complexion doesn’t look very good," Lan Yening said.
"I caught a cold while showering yesterday," Lv Zhao’s face changed, forcing a smile.
"Zhaozhao, is this Xiao Ning? She really has the face of a born star." A voluptuous woman wearing a work skirt, tight white shirt, and long waves walked over.
"Hello, Sister Li." Lv Zhao quickly walked over, smiling flatteringly.
Lan Yening became even more awkward.
Sister Li snapped her fingers.
A waiter came over and poured red wine for the three of them.
"Thank you, but I don’t drink. Please don’t pour." Lan Yening said in a fluster.
The waiter immediately stopped pouring and respectfully stepped back with the bottle.
The staff’s professionalism here was evident.
"Since Brother Wan recommended you, I won’t go over the rules. This job’s base pay is 10,000, and tips depend on your ability. But one thing — you absolutely cannot offend the customers."
Sister Li’s tone grew increasingly stern.
Lan Yening instinctively pressed her legs together, like a schoolchild.
"Though we’ll protect you to some extent, there are people here even we can’t afford to offend. So think carefully before you do anything. If you don’t want to do this, it’s still not too late."
Lan Yening hesitated, feeling torn. But thinking about the voting she needed to support Ye Yuwei and her mother’s medical bills, she gritted her teeth and said, "Sister Li, I’ll do it."
Following the server, she entered a luxurious VIP room.
A few men were seated inside, one of them in a black suit and white shirt, seated at the center with an unfriendly expression.
He glanced at Lv Zhao and Lan Yening as they entered. "New here, aren’t you?"
"Uh, yes!" Lan Yening nodded nervously.
"You look shy, and your face unfamiliar. Come over and have a drink." The man’s tone was restrained, but his gaze was intimidating.
Lan Yening timidly shuffled over, relieved that he seemed relatively composed.
Lv Zhao remained silent and stood by the side without being offered a seat.
"Sing me a song."
"Which one?"
"Your best."
Lan Yening nodded, selected one of her usual songs, and started singing — shaky at first but improving as she went along.
The man had her sing several more songs, as if he was there solely to listen to music.
In the flower hall, Wan Song sat across from Sister Li, sipping red wine.
"Sister Li, how is it? High-quality goods, huh?"
"It is, but they still need to impress Sixth Master and his crew."
Wan Song burst into laughter, "Don’t worry. If Sixth Master isn’t satisfied, I might as well chop myself up and serve myself instead."
"Haha, you? Spare us the trouble. But now, we need to figure out how to keep this kid under control." Sister Li’s eyes gleamed coldly.
"That’s easy. He’s just a poor kid who wants money, especially for his dying mother."
Sister Li nodded, "I think we should stick to the usual tactic — first get him into debt and then trick him into overseas labor. Once he’s abroad, everything will be beyond his control."
