Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer-Chapter 313: Elves Are A Troublesome Bunch
Chapter 313: Elves Are A Troublesome Bunch
Adrian walked out of the portal. But the moment he looked up, he saw a wall of Elven guards, their weapons drawn and ready to attack him.
They filled the entire square, forming an impenetrable circle around him. There were dozens, if not hundreds, all ready to strike him at a moment’s notice.
I guess they found out about Vincent and Rowan.
Adrian sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. The situation was troublesome. He’d just finished a gruelling battle, first with the participants and then with Bellerophon. And now this?
He was wondering if the entire tower was just one big joke, designed to test his patience rather than his strength.
"What now?" he muttered, more to himself than anyone else.
One guard stepped forward, his eyes narrow and sword ready.
"You, human," he spat. "You cannot fool us. We know you killed our kin and now you will pay for what you’ve done."
Adrian raised an eyebrow. They knew he killed someone, but they didn’t know who he killed? He wondered how they even knew he killed them. After all, he had changed his face and everything before entering the tower. They couldn’t have known it was him.
"Pay for what? I just got here."
He wasn’t exactly lying. But it didn’t seem his words were working on them. If anything, his nonchalant attitude pissed them off even more.
The guard didn’t bother with a response. Instead, he lunged forward, sword swinging. That was all the signal the rest needed. In an instant, they were upon him. Those who had weapons rushed towards him, while the magicians blasted their spells toward Adrian.
"Figures," Adrian muttered, shaking his head. "Time for a test."
Still, he was more surprised than anything. They really thought they could take him down after everything he’d been through? [Blood Mist] should have been enough for them, but Adrian had other plans.
With a flick of his wrist, he activated the Celestial Hand’s water manipulation skill, the power he had taken from Bellerophon.
From all around, water gathered around him—first as droplets, then as streams, converging on him from the nearby fountains and the air itself.
The water then wrapped around him like a protective cloak, forming an impenetrable barrier. The elves’ weapons clanged uselessly against the water barrier, their spells fizzled out before they even reached Adrian.
"Is this really what you want?" Adrian called out, his voice muffled slightly by the swirling water.
But the elves didn’t stop. They were determined, attacking with everything they had. Their resolve was praiseworthy, but all Adrian felt was irritation.
It was clear they would not back down, but he was tired of playing defence. If they wanted him to fight, then he would fight.
With a deep breath, he focused his energy, and the surrounding barrier pulsed. The water swirled faster and faster until, with a single thought, Adrian undid the barrier.
The barrier exploded outward, a massive wave of force that sent the elves flying in all directions. The shockwave of the explosion rippled through the square, toppling stalls and shattering windows.
The force threw the elves back like rag dolls, resulting in some crashing into walls and others skidding across the ground. Most were too stunned to react, their weapons falling to the ground as they struggled to get back up.
Adrian did not expect a simple explosion to deal all that damage. Thankfully, no elves had died. Although, it wouldn’t matter even if they did, since they were the ones who attacked him.
He hadn’t wanted to kill them because... it wasn’t worth the hassle. Most of them were too weak to bother with, and their organs wouldn’t have been worth the effort of harvesting. That said, he was more than willing to teach them a lesson.
He wasn’t done yet, though. With a wave of his hand, he summoned more water from the fountains, this time shaping it into two massive tornadoes.
The spinning columns of water tore through the square, sweeping up the elves and tossing them aside like debris. As the tornadoes tossed them aside like debris, all they could do was scream. If no one had died before, they would certainly die now.
Wait... something’s wrong.
As the tornadoes raged, Adrian felt something strange. He was losing control over the tornadoes.
Despite Adrian wanting them to stop, the tornadoes continued growing. Soon, the tornadoes caused buildings to crumble and flooded the streets. The sheer force of the swirling water was enough to tear through the city, leaving nothing unscathed.
"Damn it," Adrian cursed under his breath.
He hadn’t meant for it to go this far, but now it was too late. Suddenly, the admin appeared in the sky, watching the mess. With a snap of his fingers, the Admin dissipated the tornadoes, and the water fell harmlessly to the ground.
"What in the nine hells are you doing?" he snapped, glaring at Adrian.
"What do you mean?" Adrian rolled his eyes. "You saw it. They attacked first. I just defended myself."
The fey’s gaze shifted to the elves, who were slowly picking themselves up, battered and bruised.
One of them, still hunched over in pain, mumbled, "He smells like a murderer... like the one who killed our kin."
Adrian’s eyes narrowed. Now he knew how, despite his new appearance, these elves could still somehow recognise him.
It must be something like a curse following me. These elves are more troublesome than I thought.
"Did this happen inside the tower?" the admin asked.
The chief elf shook his head weakly. "N-no... it was..."
Before the chief could finish his sentence, the fey’s eyes glowed and, in a flash, the chief’s head exploded, his body falling to the ground.
The other elves recoiled in horror, unable to speak, let alone fight back. The Admin looked at the rest of them with silent rage.
"I warned you not to create problems for me. Yet here you are, disobeying my orders."
Adrian stood there, watching the scene unfold, his annoyance growing by the second. He wasn’t afraid of the fey, but he didn’t have time for this nonsense either.
"Can I go now?" he asked.
The fey turned back to him, his expression unreadable.
"Yes," he said, waving his hand dismissively. "But take this as a warning. I won’t tolerate any more of your... incidents. Use the gate and leave."
Adrian shrugged, not bothering to argue. He walked toward the portal the admin had opened. But he paused briefly to look at the stunned elves. They were troublesome, and he thought about wiping them out, but there was no point in it now.
Without another word, he stepped through the gate to the next floor.
