Chapter 36 - Thirty Six

Further down the canyon, things got worse. The walls closed in, forcing them into tight, claustrophobic tunnels. The air stank of blood and burned metal. Creatures began to appear, malformed beasts stitched together from bone and flesh, their eyes weeping black ichor.

Adrian moved first. Using Umbral Construct, he summoned a fragile black spear and hurled it into the nearest Revenant's skull. The weapon shattered on impact, but it was enough to stagger it.

Fenrik tore through another with brutal efficiency. Galvir's dwarven Hammer thundered in the confined space, dropping two more. Nyxaris blurred from shadow to shadow, ripping tendons and throats. But for every creature they slew, two more came. They needed to find the dungeon core. freewebnσvel.cѳm

At the end of a bloodstained corridor, they found it, the Dungeon Core.

It pulsed in midair like a rotten heart, tendrils of corruption digging into the canyon walls.

But something was wrong. A figure stood between them and the Core. An armored knight, covered in silver-plated runes, his face hidden behind a cracked helm.

Status: Berserked, Hostile.]

Fenrik cursed under his breath. Galvir raised his Hammer, but Adrian held up a hand.

"No. He's mine." Drawing deep on his remaining system energy, Adrian summoned an Umbral Sword, fragile but deadly. Only basic constructs — that was his limit — but he would make it enough. Nyxaris growled in approval. The duel began.

The Fallen Sentinel charged, a titanic silver blade slashing down. Adrian ducked, barely avoiding a decapitating strike.

His Umbral Sword clashed with the Sentinel's blade, shattering on impact, but Adrian had anticipated it. He rolled forward, conjuring a fresh dagger mid-motion and stabbing into a joint in the armor. The Sentinel howled, retaliating with a backhanded blow that hurled Adrian across the room.

Pain blossomed in his ribs. Something cracked. But he forced himself to stand. "I will not fall here," he whispered. Nyxaris struck from the side, forcing the Sentinel to stagger. Adrian summoned another blade, anUmbral Pike, and drove it through the Guardian's chest. Silver light exploded outward. The Sentinel's body crumbled to ash. And the Core shattered. A system notification appeared

Adrian collapsed to his knees, panting.

[Level 35.]

He was growing stronger — but so were his enemies. As the dungeon around them began to collapse, a new portal opened — not golden, like the standard exits, but deep violet. Above it floated a single, jagged shard — pulsing with dark radiance.

Nyxaris spoke into his mind. "You have a choice now... choose wisely, master." Adrian stared into the portal in deep thought. Something out there was hunting for him. Something he was not ready to face yet.
