Common Sense Hijack System-Chapter 65
Chapter 65: Chapter 65
The shadow finally emerges into the dim light. Tall, slender, and elegant figure, exuding control and strength. She’s a mysterious woman, beautiful yet dangerous. Her long, straight black hair dances with the wind, coming from the broken window. Her pale skin with a strange glow makes her look like she came from another world.
In her right hand, she holds a katana—agile and sharp, shining brightly. A samurai weapon, in her hands, it be more like a deadly assassin’s tool, able to strike with deadly speed and precision.
Her dark blue eyes stare intensely at Karl, almost enchanting. Without a word, she stands there, evaluating the situation. The vibes she gives off are clear: she’s not here to make friends.
Karl steps back slowly, his instincts on alert. He knows she’s no ordinary being; she’s something beyond human, only appearing in dangerous missions given by the system.
She raises her sword, pointing it directly at Karl’s chest. Without averting her sharp gaze, she speaks in a low, echoing voice, "Blood trails led me here!"
Layla grips Karl’s arm tightly, fear and wariness on her face. She senses great danger from this woman, yet she doesn’t intend to retreat.
Karl clenches his jaw, his eyes sharp as he gazes back at the woman. "And who are you?" he asks, trying to hold back the tremble in his voice.
The woman smiles faintly, a smile hinting at a hidden threat. "I’m not an ordinary human, but I don’t care about that distinction. You can call me ’The Slayer’ like the scumbags who i like to hunt!" she says, pressing her sword towards Karl as if challenging, "and my presence here is because of the blood trails on your shoes!"
The system brings up its analysis to Karl immediately.
[System Analysis]
- Species: Homo Noctis
- Status: High Potential Danger
Description:
Homo Noctis is an ancient species preceding Homo Obscura, originating from snowy and cold plains. They have different brainwaves than regular humans, allowing them to access physical abilities far beyond human limits. At night, their abilities enhance, making Homo Noctis very powerful and nearly invisible in the darkness. Their pale skin, large sharp eyes are well-adapted to survive in harsh dark conditions.
Karl reads the analysis from the system, heart pounding. "Homo Noctis... these creatures are almost like the Obscura motherfuckers," he thinks.
The Slayer looks at Karl with a cold smile, enjoying the fear spreading on his face. Without shifting her gaze from Karl, she swings her sword casually, making a sharp cutting sound. "I didn’t expect to have to see your dick after following the blood trails! Young man," she says in a low tone. "You two don’t seem dangerous, but the blood trails I tracked match those of a gangster group that met a gruesome end!"
Karl takes a deep breath, calming his mind. He knows that facing this creature is not a wise choice, but surrender is not in his nature. Beside him, Layla looks tense, but she stands firm.
"If you seek blood, The Slayer," Karl says with a deliberately calm voice, "you will get more than you bargained for."
The Slayer chuckles, her voice eerie like a whisper. "You’re so confident as an ordinary human. But blind self-confidence only leads to destruction." She moves her hand, and in an instant, Karl feels a huge energy emanating from her, like a storm ready to destroy anything in its path.
"Hahah..." The Slayer laughs wickedly, "You guys are funny, I sense the feelings of love that emerged before fear, feelings of love based on shared fate. I didn’t expect to witness a sex scene like in a novel." freeweɓnovel.cѳm
"Huh?" Karl furrows his brows, confused as the woman’s detected Homo Noctis nature changes. "Wh... why? are you not going to kill us?"
"Huh? Of course not, I’m just hunting criminals. And that’s just for fun, I don’t care about this world anymore, I’ve lived too long." The mysterious woman sheathes her foil sword.
The tension in the room slowly dissipates, though the woman’s mysterious aura still lingers. Karl looks at her, still wary but starting to feel curiosity. Layla also looks more relaxed, though she holds Karl’s hand tightly.
The Slayer takes a deep breath, seemingly enjoying the stuffy air and silence around her. She looks at Karl and Layla with a softer gaze, perhaps even... bored? "You’re not the ones I’m after," she finally says. "And even though you tried to challenge me, I can see you’re not a threat."
Layla, who has been holding her breath, finally ventures a question. "Then... why were you following us? The blood trails you mentioned—you must know they’re not from us."
The Slayer smiles thinly. "Ah, good question." She shrugs, her face still indifferent but her eyes holding an odd glint. "Honestly, the trails I followed are mixed. Some lead to you, and some come from a series of events around here. However, you," she looks at Karl and Layla interchangeably. "are in the same place at a critical time that can’t be ignored."
Karl, now feeling relieved as the sense of threat decreases slightly, tries to extract information. "So, who are you really looking for? If we’re not your target, what’s really going on?"
The woman just chuckles, then looks at the broken window behind them. "The human world is always the same... so much boring drama, so many people wanting to do evil for no clear reason. The ones I’m after are just cowards running from the responsibility of the blood they spill. Maybe one day you’ll meet losers like them... and I’ll wait to see what you do when that day comes."
Layla looks increasingly confused, but her curiosity can’t be contained. "You mentioned you’ve lived too long... what do you mean?"
The Slayer looks at Layla for a moment, as if assessing whether the girl is worthy of hearing her answer. Then, in a much softer voice than before, she says, "Living too long is a curse no one desires, young woman. After thousands of years, everything you know changes, and in the end, you realize one thing—that nothing matters anymore." Her gaze wanders, far beyond the reach of anyone but herself.
Silence prevails. Karl and Layla can feel the deep loneliness of the woman before them, a figure who appears strong and invincible yet harbors a profound weariness.
"You guys can go back to cuddling! I’ll watch from here!" she leans against the wall.
"HUH?" Karl and Layla are taken aback.
Karl and Layla look at each other, their faces reddening at The Slayer’s sudden comment. The tension shifts into an awkward silence that feels almost absurd. Karl tries to compose himself, clearing his throat to speak, but words stumble in his mouth.
"Sorry... what do you mean?" Karl finally asks with a slightly trembling voice.
The Slayer looks at them with a mischievous smile, then chuckles softly. "Oh, come on. Don’t pretend. Your energy trails are intertwined like fire with kindling, burning even though you’re not aware." She waves her hand casually, as if the situation wasn’t a big deal at all.
Layla looks down, her face growing even redder. "We... we’re not... ah, not like that," she mumbles, confused.
The Slayer laughs again, this time more relaxed. "Relax. You humans always have complicated connections—love, hate, fear, admiration. They’re like colors on a painting for me as Homo Noctis that really bored me. Occasionally, a little entertainment doesn’t hurt."
Karl, usually tough, can only manage a sheepish smile. But behind the awkwardness, he senses something unsettling. This woman, emitting an aura of strength, loneliness, and deep boredom in life, might understand human relationships far better than she lets on.
The Slayer looks at Karl and Layla alternately, and this time her gaze seems deeper and more sincere. "You might think I’m just a passing alien, but don’t assume I don’t know what warmth and hope are like... even though it’s all in the past for me."
Layla, curious, dares to ask, "Did... did you ever feel like us? I mean... living with hope?"
The Slayer hesitates for a moment. But finally, she answers in a soft voice rarely heard from her. "Yes... long ago. Very long before all this. I used to have hope, love, and people to protect. But time took everything away... until I was only left as a shadow."
"Oh right, my name is Valencia!" The Slayer smiles, "Yes, at least that was my name a few hundred years ago, it’s been a while since I introduced myself. Hahha..." her laughter sounding a bit forced.
Karl and Layla look at each other, "I... I’m Karl and she is.. Layla," Karl replies awkwardly.
BRAAAPPP...
Suddenly, a man jumps in through the broken window by Valencia.
Karl’s eyes widen, "Obscura motherfucker!"
Two woman hopped in, Chloe and Amber tagging along with John. The vibe got weirder, Homo Obscura and Homo Noctis stood tall with two average humans.
Tension started boiling, Valencia pulling out her katana.
"Who are they?" Valencia glanced over at Karl.
