Conquering Ladies With My 10x Rebate System-Chapter 26: Please don’t go
Chapter 26 - Please don't go
"What is it this time? I completed the task!" Caleb asked, confused by Naya's outburst.
"You scared the hell out of me! Why didn't you tell me that you weren't dead?!" Naya shouted.
Her cold eyes—they were different.
It wasn't the cold glare that could send shivers down his spine.
It was sharp and dangerous, yes.
But a warm type of dangerous.
A kind of danger coated in care.
"Seems like someone was scared of seeing me die?" Caleb chuckled,
making Naya's frown deepen all the more.
"You didn't expect me to come out and tell you that I was still alive? How else would I get him?" Caleb laughed uncontrollably at her words.
"You should've just stayed dead," Naya muttered under her breath.
But Caleb could still hear her, considering how close they were.
"That would have made two bodies," Caleb replied with a smug grin, annoying her all the more.
"Tsk." Naya scoffed, pushing herself up.
~Crrr!
She winced in pain, coughing up blood.
'My bones are fractured,' Naya thought, the pain searing through every fibre of her body.
She gritted her teeth, trying to force herself up, but before she could, she felt arms going under her knee.
~Hep
She yelped.
"What are you doi—" she turned her head, but she fell on his chest.
Her gaze met with his—bright green eyes... ones that pulled her in like some sort of magnet.
His scent wafted into her nose.
A mix of cinnamon and palm—a natural scent that instantly calmed her nerves.
"Don't push yourself... You're already injured as it is," Caleb said to her. His voice was soft.
Caring. Kind.
A voice that made her feel safe.
She wanted to struggle, but her mind blanked after hearing his words.
Her face flushed red, her muscles melting instantly.
She felt so comfortable in his arms that she didn't want him to drop her, even for a second.
Caleb was equal to the task. He hugged her close to his chest, like a precious stone.
"I booked a few rooms for us. We should get out of here before the police come to investigate," Caleb said, looking at all the damage caused to the hotel dining.
A bitter smile climbed his face.
'This will really cost a lot to get fixed... I'll have to support Martin's in any way I can,' Caleb thought to himself.
He walked slowly towards the hotel exit, stopping just directly over Nathan's limp body.
His nose wrinkled at the foul smell.
Dried blood could be seen all over his face, a gaping hole left in his skull.
Caleb's eyes moved down to the black card lying loosely on the palm of his hands.
"Get the card," Naya said with a cold voice.
'Seems she's lost any sympathy for him... He truly was an asshole,' Caleb thought, sighing softly as he bent, just enough to get the card.
Just then—

'I guess my job here is done.'
Caleb smiled at the system's notification.
The blaring sound of the sirens quickly got his attention.
Without wasting time, Caleb walked past the dining hall, coming out into the long corridor.
'Herald is a competent man. He'll definitely go there to check up on me, so I'll have to be fast.'
Basically, he was trying to avoid raising any suspicions.
He followed the long stairs, heading towards the room he had booked beforehand.
"Welcome. Please place your thumb on the scan for verification."
A soft robotic voice said as he stood in front of the door.
Caleb adjusted her weight, freeing one hand.
He placed his thumb on the scan.
The door pulled open with a click sound.
The room was humongous and beautifully decorated, complementing the quality of the hotel.
The bed was placed in the center, large enough to easily fit in six people.
Caleb walked into the room, closing the door behind him.
He gently placed Naya on the bed, allowing her to sink into the soft mattress.
Caleb stood up, her scent lingering on him.
The sweet scent of vanilla... alluring and soothing.
Caleb sighed.
'She'll need a lot of rest,' he thought, relieved that he made it right on time to save her before Nathan choked her to death.
"I'll get a doctor to come treat you tomorrow. You should rest," Caleb said with a tired sigh.
"I'll be staying in the second room," Caleb said, turning away to leave, but he felt her soft hands wrap around his, holding him back.
"Wait, give me the card... I can heal faster with it," Naya said with a weak voice.
"Sure, here it is," Caleb said, passing the two cards to her.
She took the cards from him... a sigh of relief escaping her lips.
"What? Scared that I would attack you?" Caleb said with a smirk.
"You wish," Naya rolled her eyes, holding the card tightly.
She felt a sudden warmth in her body, her energy slowly returning...
No, it was even faster... faster than usual.
'Is this the effect of a 2-horn card?' she thought to herself, her eyes widening in bewilderment.
She was healing thrice as fast as she normally would with just her card.
Her energy returned quickly.
The sores all over her body disappearing instantly.
She felt as though every second holding the card was pouring energy into every part of her body.
However, it appeared the card was unable to revive her from the feeling of exhaustion.
The fight, the fear... everything drained her, not only physically but mentally as well.
"I should be leaving." Caleb's voice drew her back to reality.
"Uhm... sure," she said, uncertainty in her voice.
Caleb turned to leave once again, but he felt her soft hands once again, dragging him back till he fell onto the bed.
He fell right onto her chest, her two mountains supporting his head. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
Naya's face flushed peach red.
"Please, don't go yet."
