Crusader King-Chapter 148: Two-faced lie(12)
Chapter 148 - Two-faced lie(12)
In accordance with his plans, as the male ehetrian had been pushed away and was still standing there, confused, he created a thick dome of purple energy above his own head, ,just as he had previously planned, and stepped aside, already knowing how this would most likely play out.
The woman hit the shield, and as she did, the shield slowly began to break, her mana colliding with the mana of the shield and causing it to slowly be destroyed, though it must've been fairly exhausting for her, and probably have resulted in her not even being able to see through the barrier, both things that Cades had already thought of and incorporated, and both things that he was planning for for his next few attacks to do as much damage as possible.
Finally, the female ehetrian pushed through the shield, breaking it and completely descending on that which stood right underneath, on that little present that Cads had prepared for her, she attacked her little partner, as the male ehetrian he had pushed was standing right where he had stood before, still stunted, baffled and confused after what had just happened, after all, the entire thing, the interchange between magic missiles and him positioning the female ehetrian took only about a second, incorporating the speed of descent of the female one.
The axe was positioned almost perfectly and Cades could already see the fear in the eyes of the two that, now that Cades looked a bit closer, seemed to be closer than just partners and more so intent on protecting each other at all costs, but sadly, he had slightly miscalculated the confusion in which the male one had been put, resulting in him being able to evade with barely a deep gash across the whole stomach, growing less deep the further down it went, with him even having been hurt in the leg after the silver axe had ripped half of his skin apart and caused severe bleeding.
Despite this he was still able to push himself away using his now paining feet, escaping from the now neutralised shield dome that Cades had previously put up and leaving his female partner alone, the partner that was still confused but already starting to look at Cades once more, showcasing the same kind of determination and focus as the man had been holding on to while fighting Cades all this time, something that, to him, seemed kind of amusing.
But it was not enough, she might've already stood up once more, but he had already prepared the active he was now going to use, an active that other him favoured quite a lot and an active that he, himself, liked quite a lot as well due to it's compatibility with his very own weapon, the active known as an overload.
The woman was hit straight by the powerful overload, but she somehow remained standing, her mana somehow neutralizing the attack, no, rather than that, she didn't neutralize it, it simply didn't work, however, the other one, the man was also hit and flung back quite a bit, allowing Cades to focus on the little woman that had somehow neutralized one of his favourite actives, aside from the warp which was his personal favourite, something that he should perhaps show this one.
As in the name of the active, the warp step, he used it to take a single step forward, not much, but enough to throw the woman off of her understanding of his current abilities, especially since she hadn't really seen it yet, and more than enough to attack her from close range using his readied weapon to strike at her neck as he sadly couldn't teleport into something, including the stuff he was holding.
...though, now that he was thinking about it, he wasn't sure about whether or not he would be able to warp with another living being... well, that was something for later, wasn't it...
His attack onto the neck was blocked, but already anticipating that from her following his eyes, the eyes that had purposefully been focused on the neck as of late, and as such he simply kicked her legs, infusing his legs with mana and causing her to fall over, her lower leg presumably broken from the especially strong kick with his legs having been propelled by mana and infused even more than the rest of his body, something he was quit proud of being capable of doing, other than his useless counterpart, at least useless when it came to fighting, that was still standing about a hundred to two hundred feet away and was probably shaken to the core seeing him fight right now.
The women went down, instinctually grabbing her own leg in pain, ignoring him for just a moment but shortly after already ripping her eyes open when she realized, it had just been a singular moment, but he had already expected this, and now she was done for.
Utilizing the same technique as before he grabbed her head, and bashed his knee against her forehead, feeling something warm rush down his leg, something that did not originate from him, so much he was certain about, he felt how the bine, the skull covering her brain was broken, he felt how her brain was obliterated, he felt how the woman died, never to rise again.
He let go of her and she fell down, Cades smile now gone, having lost one of his opponents and now turned this 'game' quite dull in his opinion but already turning around to face the coming mana that was now screaming in rage, a scream of agony that he had never truly heard before, a scream that reminded him of a lover that had just lost his other half, which it perhaps was, with the only real question being of how a loving couple got into Cades consciousness without him even knowing who they were.
Cades didn't really care about him however, he already knew that this was the last attack this man, this man that was bleeding from almost every opening, was going to be able to unleash onto him, and not that powerful of an attack either.
And indeed, he struck the blade, not even caring, and it was thrown away, the man just collapsing at his feet, his hands still traying to grab him and rip his flesh away, something that didn't even hurt as his nails were ironically kept quite short, something that had turned out to be quite the bad decision for him.
Cades knees bent down, he looked at the squirming, pathetic man, and finally, he put his own hand, his left one atop the man's head, putting his sword onto the side of the left, his dagger in his right hand, the dagger he had for some reason just found in the middle of that forest in which he had met the other him, and then, he stabbed the metal deep into the head of his opponent.
He couldn't even see the opponent's face, but he knew it was all over.
Standing up completely he looked towards the other him that was still looking, his face scarred with fear, understandable after what had just happened, and began to walk back to him, intending to get the Cades who was better at reading intent to investigate the hole onto the endless abyss, but instead he felt that something was off, again.
