Crushing flags and claiming the Villainess-Chapter 208 - 207- Way of learning
That night, Valerie arrived in Austin's room, completely unaware of what degree of danger she was liable to face in the near future.
At the moment, all she could think of was studying. Yes, she came here just to study!
She followed the usual routine of climbing the tree and jumped at his window before her Lord welcomed her.
Wordlessly, she approached the table and sat down before she opened the books.
No flirting today! She studying!
Austin was in the kitchen, preparing something for them to drink as he asked, "What subject are you having problems with?" Naturally, he couldn't teach every subject with the small amount of time they had in hand.
That's why, he would be helping her with her weakest one.
"History," Valerie answered without much thinking. She even brought the books and notes on that subject alone.
Among the five subjects they had to study, History was the only one that Valerie couldn't tolerate for more than ten minutes.
Reading about the past, ancient languages, runes, and whatnot is just too sleep-inducing. Sometimes, when she can't fall asleep, she forces herself to read history, and voila.
Valerie has a strong command of the other subjects since they are more practical and the subjects include the field of her interest. Like things about hunting, dungeons, and weapons.
Austin chuckled, "The major problem of most of the students is that they read history as a subject. You need to take it as a story. The history we read is a continuous story starting from the great ancient war between the Demon Lord and Hero Kane."
Valerie grumbled, "If they had recorded your deeds back then, then I might have thought of reading it."
Austin shook his head helplessly, as he brought two cups of black coffee to the table.
Some caffeine is needed since Austin has a feeling that they might be staying up late.
Resting the coffee on the table he sat down across from her and asked, "I will give you some important terms and dates. Learn them since there is a high probability for those questions to be asked."
Valerie nodded with all seriousness as she extended the notes she had prepared.
Austin took the papers and slid the ink toward himself before taking the quill.
He started circling the important topics he deemed necessary to be learned. He has read previous years' questions as well, so he knows what pattern they follow.
Meanwhile, Valerie sipped on the coffee, and only tilted the cup enough to not hinder her eyes from gazing at her breathtaking man.
Austin has taken a bath just now so his skin seems to be glowing. His lips are naturally slightly red. And that curly blond hair was falling down his forehead like a veil trying to hide his charm.
Austin looks like those sculpted Gods people make with their imagination. He is just so divinely charming that Valerie could never get tired of looking at him.
'His popularity has been growing recently...' it was a profound reason to be concerned. In the past, people didn't talk about him much, so she was safe. But after the ceremony, people have started looking at him more.
And it was concerning.
Thankfully, Austin wasn't the kind of noble who preferred having more than one wife. However, she still needs to be careful. Who knows what kind of promise his father might have made in the past that might have forced Austin to have a concubine or something?
'No, I can't let that happen...even if I have to abduct him and leave this nation...' Nothing was more important than her position in his life. In the past, she might have yearned for his slight attention, but because of how he has showered her with love, Valerie's expectations and demands have risen.
She wants to be his first and last.
"Hello, Hello. Can I talk to Miss Valerie?"
The lady snapped out of her daze as Austin waved his hand before her face.
Embarrassed, she said, "Sorry ..." Wasting his time like this...not good, Valerie!
Austin heaved a sigh with a shake of his head—not upset but slightly embarrassed...after all, being stared at by the girl he likes is kind of...exhilarating.
Austin handed her notes back and told her, "Please try to learn the points I have marked. I have omitted the lines which are unneeded and have starred those dates which are must-remember."
Valerie nodded diligently and started to read the passages that were marked.
Austin picked up his coffee and watched his girl studying with her thin brows slightly drawn closer.
Resting his cheek against his palm he heaved a soft sigh and asked the system,
'Isn't my wife adorable?'
[Ding!]
[She suits you!]
The system seemed excited.
'By the way, system, what's my stats at the moment?'

Austin hummed...his stats reminded him that he hadn't been training much. And considering how close he has reached the breakthrough, the stats are moving slowly as well.
The only real challenge he could think of, which was accessible to him, was the Dungeon.
'I will visit it tonight...' Class would be resuming tomorrow, that's why he couldn't oversleep. So he would just finish the main boss and return.
A few more minutes passed as Austin reviewed his past rewards and chatted with the system when suddenly,
"This isn't working." Valerie spoke with slight frustration laced in her voice, "I couldn't remember anything...there's just too much information."
Austin hummed as he saw her fingers gripping the notes strongly—that showed that she was genuinely frustrated.
"Well, it's necessary for you to at least remember those points or you might not get passing marks." Austin reminded her. The five main subjects required one hundred and twenty points out of two hundred to mark a student qualified.
However, Valerie doesn't seem to be progressing at all.
"I lack interest in this..." Valerie covered her forehead and leaned her head down—depressed.
Austin thought for a moment...she needs something to get interested in History, huh?
"Okay, let's do this," pointing at the front page, he said, "You learn all the important terms of the first page within ten minutes, and I will reward you."
Hearing the word 'reward' made her flinch.
She looked at him with her eyes round and found Austin smiling mischievously.
She took a strong gulp and started to read again.
This time with evident eagerness in her eyes.
She still doesn't know what kind of reward he has in mind...but the thrill of the anticipation was enough to keep her going.
Austin simply watched her devouring the lines, repeating the words she learned and continuing with the pace.
And as he thought, the bait of reward worked.
"Done." She extended the papers in his direction with all seriousness on her face.
Austin rested the notes on the table and asked, "So tell me, what was the Foolish Act?"
Valerie nodded and started repeating the words she learned, "Soul Harvest was the Foolish Act which the humans a thousand years ago committed in the hopes of summoning a devil who would take down the demon king. They ..." Valerie's words faltered as she saw her Lord slowly unbuttoning his shirt—causing her throat to turn dry, but she continued,
"....killed people in huge amounts thinking that it was the way to impress the devil...."
By now, Austin has already unbuttoned halfway down, revealing his finely shaped chest.
Valerie took a strong gulp and shifted in her seat...wasn't this reward too tempting? She might forget her answers!
"Okay, now tell me: What is the Eclipse pact?" Austin stopped to ask the question—much to Valerie's disappointment.
But to continue to enjoy the visual meal, she answered him, "Eclipse Pact was one of the strongest Pact demons made under the solar eclipse where several subjects get—"
Valerie paused, drawing in a sharp breath.
Austin was already standing, his shirt tossed aside. Her eyes locked onto his body — those sculpted abs, the deep grooves running down to that sinful V-line. Each muscle moved as he stepped closer, like his body was made to tease her. It wasn't just hot — it was downright dangerous. Her mouth went dry. That wasn't a torso... that was temptation carved in flesh.
Noticing that she has stopped speaking, Austin suggested,
"You want me to put the shirt back-"
"Several subjects get into pacts with demons where they could influence their subjects with their mere thoughts!" Valerie finished, not wanting the sight before her eyes to disappear.
Austin chuckled, seeing her reaction before he told her, "Now continue with the second page, and you can continue to gain your rewards."
That night, Valerie realized that she might just love History more than any subject.
