Daily life of a cultivation judge-Chapter 921: Cursed Corpse
"I hope he will contain himself," thought Yang Qing with some worry as his gaze fell on the elderly man.
He couldn’t help but sympathize with why he had that intense hate-filled glare. If he had been in the same shoes as him, and gone through what the old man had gone through, he would have the same anger and would have likely done a poor job at restraining it too.
Though the old man openly showed his hostilities, he at least didn’t attack anyone but of course, maybe the reason for that could be because he was biding his time waiting for the opportune moment to strike.
Unwilling to drag this along any further, Yang Qing decided to get the show on the road. The faster they completed the case, the less likely the elderly man would try to pull something, though even if he did try, his cultivation base ensured that ultimately it would end in failure. Of everyone present, he was currently the weakest person present.
Even if Yang Qing didn’t do anything and just let him act on his anger, the two targets of ire that is Lin Duyi and Yao De were both stronger than him, and one of them was even under the protection of one overprotective domain expert who if it were not because they were at the courts of the Order would have long slapped him to death.
..
"The final disagreement to be heard is between the supreme elder of the Azure rain sword sect, Lin Duyi of the Golden Bamboo Pavilion, and Yao De of the same.." Yang Qing paused as his gaze fell on Lin Duyi and Yao De.
The former seemed to avoid his gaze as he hid behind his mother which drew an exasperated sigh from his father, and a weird look from Imperial Household Manager Liu Guan.
"You both stand accused of robbing Supreme Elder Jiang Huang of his sword. Supreme elder, I now leave the floor to you to state your side of the story, after which the members of the Golden Bamboo Pavilion should they wish to, can take turns explaining their side of the story too..
Supreme Elder Jiang Huang, would you please," Yang Qing softly said as he motioned with his hands for the elderly man to step forward.
The elderly man’s eyes flashed with malevolence as he cast a look at the mentioned duo before finally taking his step to the center of the courtroom.
"Thank you for giving me this chance.." Supreme Elder Jiang Huang said as he cupped his fists and bowed slightly which surprised Yang Qing at the show of decorum, and also how quickly the supreme elder had recomposed himself.
Even though he still had a coldness to him, the killing intent that was radiating densely from his body seemed to disappear the instant he started talking. His voice though clear had a sense of lethargical weakness to it, which matched his sickly-looking stature.
The supreme elder was gaunt, his hair had thinned out at different parts of his head with a murky dull grey color that one would see on mortals who had aged, and it wasn’t the only thing of similarity he had on with mortals, as his hands had liver spots in them. He wore black robes with cloud patterns on them. The robe was clearly made of quality materials, but because of how withered he looked, the quality of that robe was like a glaring tool that shined a light on the supreme elder’s haggard state.
He was skin and bones, hunched over, and because of how small he was, it looked like he had been swallowed by his robes. He cut a sorry appearance. He looked like a candle wick that was about to burn out.
The way he looked was something uncommon. It was only cultivators who were in the qi refinement realm whose bodies would age similar to a mortal’s, but it became different once one became a foundation establishment realm cultivator and above. Even though they still had a finite lifespan, when it came to their bodies, it would remain rosey and vibrant down to the last breath, provided they died of natural causes, and not some grievous injury.
The higher up the cultivation realms a cultivator the more powerful their bodies became to the point that when it came to palace realm cultivators, even after their death, their bodies would not show signs of decay for at least, 20,000 years, and when it decayed, only their skin and organs would, their bones would remain in the same pristine condition as it did when they were alive, and in some cases those bones even contained a bit of their power when they were still alive, with some even transforming into monarch grade treasures.
When it came to those in the domain realm, from what Yang Qing was told, their bodies would never decay and also contained the unrestrained aura of a living domain expert. A weak early-stage palace realm expert would be unable to stand before such a body, caving under its overwhelming and suffocating pressure, while those at the core formation realm and below would have their bodies explode just from being in its presence.

Supreme elder Jiang Huang’s look was something that one would not expect to see on a quasi-palace stage cultivator. The only reason someone like him would look so bad was because he had suffered a significant injury that touched upon his vital origin.
Injuries like those were usually soul-based and usually left their victims in agonizing pain. It was no wonder Supreme Elder Jiang Huang looked like a corpse that was cursed with madness.
"My name is Jiang Huang, and I am... was the supreme elder of the Azure Rain Sword Sect.." the supreme elder said, as his gaze turned melancholic for a brief moment before it was replaced with anger.
One moment was all it took, in just a single moment he lost everything he had toiled all his life for. He came so close, and it all got snatched away from him in the most humiliating way possible.
No matter how much pain he endured over the years, none of it came close to the pain of the humiliation and what he lost that day.
"At least after today I will no longer have to bear with it. I can finally rest.." thought Jiang Huang, though his look wasn’t of someone pursuing tranquility, it looked more of someone about to cannibalize someone.
