Chapter 29 - The Foe Approaches

Days passed one after another, and in the blink of an eye, half a year had swiftly gone by.

During that time, Goku, Piccolo, and Vegeta had long since returned to Earth.

The very first thing Vegeta did upon arriving was to search for the Dragon Balls.

Coincidentally, Master Roshi and the others were also gathering the Dragon Balls, intending to resurrect Yamcha, who had been killed.

Vegeta forcefully took possession of the Dragon Balls, but when he made his wish for immortality...

The dragon's reply left him in utter despair.

"I'm sorry. That wish... is beyond my power."

Vegeta was furious when he heard this.

He felt like he had been tricked and was ready to go settle the score with Cado.

But upon recalling Cado's strength, he gave up on the idea.

And so, under Vegeta's unwilling gaze, Yamcha was successfully revived by the others.

Vegeta, however, didn't choose to leave Earth.

With Frieza dead, the Frieza Force was undoubtedly in chaos, and he had no interest in getting involved with that mess anymore.

So, he simply decided to stay on Earth.

Though he despised Cado, Goku, and Piccolo...

Their strength was undeniable. Perfect for pushing himself further.

When Vegeta approached Cado to spar—

Cado flat-out refused, clearly stating.

"Fight me? You? Are you even worthy?"

Vegeta was furious, but dared not say a word.

Instead, he shamelessly requested to train at Cado's place and even asked him to build a gravity training room.

Cado's face turned cold as ice.

His voice low, face darkened, he roared.

"Get lost!"

With his tail tucked between his legs, Vegeta left and went to Goku instead.

The two, sharing similar temperaments, immediately agreed to train and spar together.

Through months of intense fighting, both made tremendous progress.

Cado didn't idle either. During that time, he made another trip to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

Because he knew—another enemy was coming soon.

There wasn't much time left.

This time, Cado stayed for only half a day.

And yet, he managed to raise his base combat power from 21 million to 35 million.

Meanwhile, life continued peacefully on Earth...

Out in space, a massive spaceship was speeding toward Earth at high velocity.

Trailing beside it were numerous large and small ships.

Their commander? None other than King Cold, out for revenge for Frieza's death.

His face was dark as he stared ahead.

But as Earth grew closer, a twisted smile crept onto his lips.

Back on Earth...

Goku and Vegeta were training on a remote island.

Trading blow after blow, their fight was fierce and even.

There was no denying it—both Goku's and Vegeta's talent were exceptional.

In just a few months, their energy levels were nearly on par with Frieza's.

It's just the way protagonists are.

BOOM!

Their latest clash sent them both skidding back several steps.

"What's wrong, Kakarot? Already tired?"

Vegeta sneered at Goku.

Just months ago, he wasn't even close to Goku's level. At the start of their training, he had been utterly overwhelmed.

But now, he was evenly matched—and damn proud of it.

Goku ignored the taunt.

Instead, he looked toward the sky, pointing into the distance.

"Over there. I sense several incredibly powerful ki... heading this way. You feel it too?"

His brow furrowed.

Among them, one in particular stood out—pure evil. Overwhelmingly strong.

Even stronger than Frieza had been.

Hearing this, Vegeta also focused and began sensing the energies.

Sure enough, many presences were rapidly approaching Earth.

"What the hell is going on?"

Vegeta's expression turned grim.

That evil aura—it brought back the same fear Frieza once instilled in him.

"Looks like... another brutal battle is on the horizon."

Goku said with a sigh.

This time's enemy was, without a doubt, the strongest he had ever faced.

Just from the feel of their energy, he could already tell he stood no chance alone.

"Tch. I'll handle this clown myself."

After his initial shock, Vegeta smirked and shot off toward the incoming ki.

"Don't be reckless, Vegeta! These guys aren't like the ones before!"

Goku had no time to argue and immediately gave chase.

That damn Vegeta, always so cocky.

Even knowing he's outmatched, he still insists on showing off.

A few minutes later...

The two arrived at a wide, empty valley.

Those powerful, ominous auras were closing in fast.

SWOOSH!

Just then, Piccolo descended from the sky.

"What's going on, Goku? What's with these insanely strong energy signatures?"

Piccolo asked, face grave.

"No idea. But whoever they are, they're not friendly. A big fight's coming, I can feel it."

Goku shook his head.

SWOOSH SWOOSH!

Krillin, Tien, and Yamcha arrived shortly after.

Earth's warriors had gathered once more.

"Hey hey hey! What the hell are you weaklings doing here?"

"This fight doesn't need trash like you."

Vegeta scoffed coldly, eyes narrowed at the group.

He had never respected them—and now he looked down on them even more.

Krillin and the others clenched their fists at his words.

"Cocky much? Stray dog like you just got here and already think you can bite everyone?"

Piccolo replied coldly.

He had zero respect for Vegeta.

Always getting his face smashed in, and still pretending to be all that.

Guys like him never change—no matter how many beatings they take.

"Tch. Say one more word, you piece of trash, and I'll kill you."

Vegeta snarled, his face twisting with anger.

He couldn't stand Piccolo either—he still vividly remembered the beating he took back on Namek.

That grudge still festered deep in his heart.

Piccolo had improved quite a bit over the months...

But compared to Vegeta now? The gap was enormous.

A total mismatch.

"Alright, that's enough. The enemy's almost here. Don't turn on each other now. Save it for after the battle."

Goku stepped in, cutting off the argument.

"Wait—where's Mr. Cado?"

Krillin turned to Goku curiously.

The others suddenly realized...

Right—where was their strongest warrior, Mr. Cado?

Would he really miss a moment like this?
