Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent-Chapter 190
Chapter 190: Chapter 190
By the time Aiden and the hunters arrived at the Last Bastion, all they saw was hell, a literal hell on earth.
The fort was destroyed, and there were almost no survivors, except for the three that they could see who were still struggling against the monsters. Maybe there are more, but first, they need to clear the huge number of monsters that are present in the vicinity to verify that.
Seeing such a horrific scene, some of the young hunters puked at the sight. These young hunters were experienced only in killing monsters, maybe one or two human deaths, but what they were seeing now was more than one or two.
Only the ones who had seen a lot of human deaths controlled themselves.
"Hunters, make sure you don’t stray away from others. There are a lot of monsters, but only a few survivors are in our sight. There might be more, but first let’s save them and then proceed from there", Aiden shouted at the group of hunters, and they followed him to save the last possible survivors.
The group of hunters made quick work of the monsters and saved the three fighters.
"Quickly apply some healing potions to them", Aiden ordered, and three of the young hunters quickly followed the orders. These three are healers, mainly added to heal the wounded at the fort, but all they now see are dead bodies.
There was nothing else they could do except save the ones that they came across. This is the best that they can do for now.
"Colonel, are you okay?" Aiden asked the man, whom he recognised as a colonel and also the commander of the fort.
"I am, thank you for the save", the man responded, but one can see the sadness that filled his eyes and voice.
Though he was alive, he was not happy.
Which commander would be truly happy when his men were killed, and his post was destroyed? fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
"Are there any other survivors?" Aiden asked him.
Though he wanted to know what transpired here, now is not the time for that. If there are any survivors, he needs to save them before he can find out other things regarding what has happened.
"I don’t know, sir, but a few ran in the other direction, but sir, before you go, you should know this. The horde is commanded by a Rank-8 Lighting Ape, acting from behind the lines, far away from the fort", the colonel spoke.
The hunters started to murmur when they heard about the Rank-8 monster. This was something that they didn’t know about and didn’t think about. Now, a few wanted to leave the place as soon as possible, but they knew that if they left now, they would be on their own, and the monsters around them could eliminate them easily.
So, the best option was to stay with the group.
The ones who came from the capital knew that Aiden was Rank-8, but only one or two knew about his probable level.
Rank-8 after all spans over thousands of levels, and there would be a lot of difference between every Rank-8 awakened. Not a single Rank-8 awakener would be equal to another Rank-8, as it used to be when one was at low-level ranks.
Now hearing that there is a Rank-8, though a few are confident that their leader can stand against it, but winning might not be a guarantee, especially since monsters have bloodlines which would unlock special powers after reaching Rank-7.
They would get one special power at Rank-7, Rank-8 and Rank-9.
The Lightning Ape at Rank-8 should possess two special powers, most likely related to lightning, which can easily defeat many other Rank-8 beings.
Aiden, on the other hand, was not afraid of a little trouble. "I will take care of it", he said and ordered the healers to stay behind, protected by a few young hunters and a few senior hunters as well.
"I will send any survivors we find here and make sure you are alert at all times until my return. The area is still dangerous", he said and left with most of the hunters.
The group slashed away at the monsters as quickly as possible, hoping to find survivors. Most of the time, what they found was people near death who had lost most of their bodies. Those that can’t be saved, Aiden gave them a quick and peaceful death.
As they were searching for survivors, Aiden felt the lightning around the area increase. He understood that the Ape was near. He ordered others to move away as a battle between him and the Ape was about to commence.
The Ape was huge, but it neared the fort without making huge waves as it should have.
Though caught off guard, Aiden was ready before they came face to face. Without wasting a second, they clashed with one another, causing the surroundings to change their shapes and waves of wind slashing everyone in the range, whether that was a monster or a human.
Since Aiden alerted the hunters, they were very far away. The ones that were affected were just lightly injured, but the monsters that were near the fights or had no defences against the battle waves suffered a lot.
The clash between Aiden and the Ape went on for half an hour before Aiden killed the monster, almost ending the monsters’ rampage.

Once the Rank-8 Lightning Ape was dead, the monsters that were roaming in and outside the fort quickly cleared the place. Once his work was done, Aiden came to check on the colonel and other survivors.
They were only able to save ten from what should have been at least two hundred or more stationed here.
When he came to check with the healers about the condition of those ten, the healers informed him that all ten were saved, but three of them may never be able to fight.
Even among the seven, there might arise some problems in the future. To guarantee whether that is true or not and see if there are any solutions, they needed to be treated by high-ranking medics using the full facilities of the medical halls.
With nothing to do about them, Aiden went to meet the colonel to find out what had happened here. Though he could understand everything from seeing the scene and knowing about the Rank-8 monster, for the report, he needed to know the exact details of what happened.
He came here to become the saviour of the fort and consolidate the rewards guaranteed, but with so many dead and the fort almost destroyed, the rewards may be reduced. It was why he sent groups to hunt any remaining monsters that were still in alliance lands, but not the ones that escaped back to their forests.
Aiden felt that something was wrong with this monster horde scenario, and was afraid that he would lose his men if he sent them to hunt for merits. He would rather have his men alive than gain a few more merits for the rewards. They can be gained another day, but his men are irreplaceable.
Whatever is happening, he would make a report, and the alliance would think about that and make a decision regarding that.
For now, he started recording everything that the colonel began to relay about what had happened from the start.
