Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Bizarre (8)

“You’re not Beech, who are you?!”

Carl’s hair stood on end as he pulled with both hands, and a transparent Spirit Whip appeared in his grasp.

“Oh?”

The silhouette that turned around tilted its head to look at Carl not far away.

“What are you talking about?”

“I am Beech, aren’t I?”

The shadow in front of him was wearing Beech’s clothes, and its height and build were very similar to Beech’s. From the back, it looked almost exactly the same as Beech.

But when it turned around, the face was eerily frightening.

It was still Beech’s face, but the entire face had sagged downwards, like a melting candle, stretched out extraordinarily long.

The corner of the eye had torn open a large gap, revealing rolling eyeballs inside.

Whether it was an illusion or not, Carl had the feeling that there were tiny bugs scurrying about within those eyeballs.

He hadn’t spoken yet, but as the muscles on his face trembled, the melting speed of the face increased, as if it could drop to the ground at any moment.

“Oh?”

The person seemed to notice something unusual about itself and reached up to support its sagging face.

“How come it’s broken so soon?”

With both hands trying to pull up desperately, it seemed to want to put the fallen flesh back to its original place, but as he moved, the flesh on the face melted together.

What finally appeared before Carl was a horribly twisted face with crooked features that were out of all proper shape.

“Is it better now?”

“Go to hell?!”

Fear mixed with horror, Carl couldn’t help but throw out the Spirit Whip in his hand.

“Crackle and Pop!”

Contrary to Carl’s expectations, the creature in front of him didn’t dodge but allowed Carl’s weapon to wrap around itself.

The next second, accompanied by Carl’s tug, the seemingly strong and hateful creature was directly torn apart by the fragile Spirit Whip, turning into a lump of broken flesh.

Splat!

The upper half of the creature’s body was torn apart, its flesh dropping into the field, and the muscular legs moved a few steps forward, finally collapsing powerlessly to the ground.

“Ah!”

Carl roared, venting the fear in his heart. Then he seemed to think of something and quickly rushed towards the cottage not far away.

“Tangde! Michelle!”

Carl burst through the door and saw Tangde and Michelle slumped by the bed, while Lawrence, with bandages on his arm, was still unconscious.

Click!

Hearing the noise, Michelle sprang up from the ground, chambered a round, and aimed at Carl who rushed in.

“Don’t shoot, it’s me!”

Carl shouted, and Michelle calmed down for a moment, clearly recognizing the figure before her.

“What the hell are you doing?”

“If you were a second slower, Michelle would have blown your head off!”

Tangde was also awakened by the noise, standing up from the ground, glowering angrily at Carl.

After some rest, Tangde seemed to be in much better spirits, his eyes bright and alert, apparently back to his Peak form.

Michelle put away the gun in her hand.

“Weren’t you on lookout ahead? Why did you run back here?”

Tangde’s face changed.

“Someone’s coming?”

“No, nobody!”

Seeing that Michelle and Tangde were unharmed, Carl’s tense nerves gradually relaxed. It was only then that he noticed the bloodstains around their mouths and on their hands.

Startled, Carl couldn’t help but ask.

“What happened, why is there blood all over your hands and mouths?”

“Blood?!”

Tangde and Michelle were first taken aback, then looked at each other, but they soon looked at Carl with puzzled faces.

“What blood?”

“What’s wrong with you?”

Tangde couldn’t help but take a step back.

“Don’t move!”

Carl was about to say something, but Michelle pointed her gun at him.

With a grave expression, Tangde posed in a strange manner, bit his tongue, and uttered a low cry.

“Awakening Spirit!”

A strong sense of oppression emanated from Tangde as an Evil Spirit crawled out from his spine.

“Do you suspect I am possessed by an Evil Spirit?”

Carl laughed, “I am a Spirit Medium myself, if an Evil Spirit approached, I would have noticed.”

Upon hearing Carl’s words, Tangde did not take them lightly.

“Michelle and I just ate some plant tubers, those things were dug up by Beech, he must have also sent a few to you.”

“Although they tasted a bit off, they didn’t have any color to begin with, and now you claim to see blood, it’s truly bizarre.”

“Plant tubers, what things?”

Carl followed Michelle’s gaze and saw under the bed, at the edge of a piece of decayed bark, half of an arm gnawed upon!

Associating it with the things Beech was digging up in the field earlier, a surge of nausea hit Carl, and he instantly realized what Tangde and the others had eaten!

“Was this what Beech gave you?”

Carl couldn’t help but shriek.

“Beech? Beech has met with mishap!”

“Just now, I saw a monster with a melting face, it was disguised as Beech, digging up corpses in the field!”

“What you ate were not plant tubers at all, but rotten flesh dug up from the ground!!”

Carl shouted loudly.

“This place is too weird, we must leave here at once!”

“Go! Quick, go!”

As he spoke, Carl reached out to grab Tangde who was standing in front of him.

“Don’t move!”

Tangde commanded sharply, his voice containing a hint of Intimidation.

Carl’s head spun, and right after that, he saw Tangde step forward, seemingly intending to bind him.

“Don’t be rash, Tangde, I assure you I will not do anything.”

Carl spread his arms.

“Tie me up, then take me away from here, okay?”

“That monster has already killed Beech, here everyone is under its influence, it’s too abnormal, it’s like the brain is no longer under one’s own control.”

For some reason, ever since he entered this room, Carl felt as if his thoughts were being influenced, as if something was gradually being peeled away from his mind.

A wave of fear rose in his heart, perhaps it wouldn’t be long until he became like Tangde and Michelle.

By then, everyone would die here!

“Did I hear someone mention me?”

An unexpected familiar voice came from behind.

Carl’s scalp tingled as he stiffly turned around.

A tall figure appeared at the cottage door. The figure spoke while placing a hoe by the door.

“Beech?!!”

Carl’s voice completely changed in tone.

“I went to relieve your shift and found you weren’t there,” Beech said, looking at Carl.

“I thought something had happened.”

Beech looked at Carl with a worried face.

“I just heard you mention me, what were you discussing?”

Tangde sighed.

“Carl has a bit of a situation. He even said that you had been killed by a monster, and the stuff we ate.”

As he spoke, he pulled a tuber from under the bed.

Crack!

“He claimed that this thing was a rotting corpse.”

Carl’s eyes widened, watching as Tangde tore apart the half arm, splashing fluid everywhere.

“That is really bad news!”

A somewhat grave voice came from behind.

“Smack!”

A large hand landed on Carl’s shoulder, and Beech’s face came close to Carl’s side.

“Tell me, how did I die in your eyes?”

“Is that so?”

Carl turned his head, Beech’s face, mere inches away, melted like candle wax.
