Chapter 954 - Reuniting with Gu Yu

Liu Wuxie darted forward toward the group.

To his surprise, Gu Yu's speed was astonishing. It had been a few years since they had last met, and Gu Yu was now at the higher levels of the Spirit Profound Realm.

Three men gave chase, rapidly closing in with weapons drawn.

"Brat, you have nowhere to run now. Hand that scepter over!"

The Dragon Clan Scepter in Gu Yu's grasp pulsed with a powerful dragon aura; no doubt it had drawn the trio to him.

One of the men stood at the pinnacle of the Spirit Profound Realm and blocked Gu Yu's path. Gu Yu had no choice but to halt and raise his scepter, ready to attack.

"Back you go!" the man roared, cleaving down with his longsword.

The strike sent Gu Yu flying ten meters away, flailing like a rag doll. The gap between their cultivation levels was too large. Gu Yu was only at the seventh-level Spirit Profound Realm, and his opponent was two levels above him.

Given Gu Yu's talent, facing someone at the eighth-level Spirit Profound Realm was his limit; he stood no chance against someone at the ninth. Worse still, he was already wounded, bleeding from his right arm from the earlier clashes with the three pursuers.

The other two charged in, blades slashing at Gu Yu's unguarded back. If they hit, he wouldn't survive unscathed.

At that instant, a comet-like streak tore through the air. Liu Wuxie landed beside Gu Yu and slashed down with the Heretic Blade, targeting the necks of the two men behind Gu Yu.

"Die!" Liu Wuxie's voice echoed like the words of death.

Their heads flew skyward. Liu Wuxie had cut down the two pursuers before they could react. He had intervened in time, saving Gu Yu's life.

"Big Brother Liu!" Gu Yu exclaimed. He could barely contain his emotions as he stared at Liu Wuxie in disbelief.

"I am here," Liu Wuxie replied with a smile as the two brothers embraced.

Gu Yu wasn't badly hurt. He just needed some rest to recover.

"Big Brother Liu, you also came to the Central Plains?" Gu Yu asked joyfully. Despite growing taller and becoming more robust, he still had a hint of innocence on his face.

"I came a year ago. I've been looking for you but couldn't find you anywhere," Liu Wuxie replied with a nod. He had initially tried searching for Gu Yu after arriving in the Central Plains.

"I didn't stay in the Central Plains for long and went to train in the Eastern Domain after leaving the Southern Province. I only returned a few months ago," Gu Yu explained. He had been traveling with his grandfather for the past few years, rarely settling in one place.

"No wonder!" Liu Wuxie replied, finally understanding why he had failed to find any news about Gu Yu.

"You punk, you dare interfere in my business?" barked the last man, stepping forward with his sword.

"What's going on here?" Liu Wuxie asked.

"They tried to rob me earlier. I refused, so they attacked," Gu Yu explained.

Gu Yu had tried defending himself using the Dragon Clan Scepter, but that had only intensified their greed, resulting in this relentless pursuit.

"I'll give you one chance. Take your own life," Liu Wuxie said flatly. He couldn't even be bothered to summon his weapon against the other party.

"You're dead!" the man growled, furious that someone at the ninth-level True Profound Realm dared mock him.

He no longer held back and lunged forward with his sword, planning to strike Liu Wuxie down first before going after Gu Yu. freewebnoveℓ.com

"Big Brother Liu, watch out!" Gu Yu called out anxiously. He already had firsthand experience of this man's strength, who had inflicted the wound on his arm.

"Die!" the man yelled.

He didn't give Liu Wuxie time to prepare and pointed his sword straight at his throat.

Even those at the pinnacle of the Spirit Profound Realm could be classified according to their strength. Had this man been a top-tier Heavenly Spirit Celestial Academy prodigy, Liu Wuxie would have been cautious of his tactics. However, this man was merely a rogue cultivator whose combat strength could not be compared to that of prodigies.

"Die!" Liu Wuxie yelled back.

He didn't move; he executed the Spatial Dao Art instead.

The surrounding space instantly solidified like a prison, trapping the man in place. Liu Wuxie flicked his finger, and space collapsed inward, crushing the man into a mist of blood. However, the blood mist didn't scatter and was contained in a narrow space, held in by invisible walls.

This scene dumbfounded Gu Yu. He was surprised by how powerful Liu Wuxie had grown in just a few years.

After collecting their interspatial rings, Liu Wuxie began to examine Gu Yu's injuries and dressed them up for him. Then, the two found a quiet place to rest as they had much to catch up on.

Gu Yu shared everything he had experienced in the past few years. After leaving the Southern Province with his grandfather, they had briefly returned to the Central Plains before heading out to the Northern City and then the Eastern Domain. He had only returned two months ago, not wanting to miss the opportunity to train in the sacred ground.

Years of training had honed Gu Yu—not just in strength but in wisdom and experience. The naive youth Liu Wuxie once knew had been tempered by years of hardship. His insight and experience could even rival Liu Wuxie's.

After all, even Liu Wuxie had never set foot in the Northern City and Eastern Domain, but he planned to visit them one day.

"Big Brother Liu, did the Heavenly Dragon Seal bring you to this place?" Gu Yu asked.

They each had obtained a dragon clan's treasure in the Blood Sea Abyssal Island. Gu Yu had taken the Dragon Clan Scepter, and Liu Wuxie had acquired the Heavenly Dragon Seal.

Liu Wuxie nodded. "That's right!"

He had been led here by the Heavenly Dragon Seal, and that was likely the same for Gu Yu with the Dragon Clan Scepter.

"Big Brother Liu, could there be a dragon clan's treasure under this mountain?" Gu Yu asked, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.

He was a descendant of the dragon clan and had already awakened his dragon clan's bloodline. If he uncovered more dragon relics, he could reclaim his ancient dragon form. This was the only way to regain his clan's glory.

"I'm not sure, but there might be a dragon clan's tomb here," Liu Wuxie replied.

He had scanned the mountain with Ghost Eye, but his vision was obstructed by an invisible force field wrapping around the mountain's core. He could only tell that the layout resembled a dragon clan's tomb.

Gu Yu shot to his feet. "You mean there's a dragon skeleton inside?"

If this were a dragon clan's tomb, wouldn't that mean there was a complete corpse of a dragon?

Their current achievements had stemmed largely from discovering a dragon's skeleton in the past.

"It's just speculation. Even if this really is a Dragon Clan tomb, it's hard to believe it's remained undiscovered for so long," Liu Wuxie said.

They wouldn't know for sure until they reached the mountain's core.

This world was once bustling with cultivators. If this were a dragon's tomb, it would be surprising that it had gone undiscovered for so many years when most of the unearthed treasures were primarily found in ruins, while others were buried deep underground.

Gu Yu nodded in agreement, acknowledging what Liu Wuxie said.

He asked, "What should we do? Are we going to give up here?"

Though Gu Yu put away the Scepter, it still kept drawing him toward the mountain. The same was true for the Heavenly Dragon Seal, and they knew the two relics wouldn't let them leave.

"It's unrealistic for us to dig our way in. Let's look around and see if there's an entrance," Liu Wuxie said. He was also curious about this mountain's secrets, and it would be a pity for them to leave without trying.

The two began to circle and scan the entire mountain.

They passed other cultivators circling the mountain just as they were. Though they didn't possess any relics of the dragon clan, they held onto a strange compass different from Han Feizi.

Liu Wuxie had seen this type of compass before. It was mainly used for treasure hunting, and some cultivators had brought treasure-hunting beasts with them, hoping to sniff out buried treasures.

The mountain was massive, and it would take days to explore it fully.

On the second day, Liu Wuxie and Gu Yu met up at the front of the mountain, beneath what looked like a dragon's head.

When Liu Wuxie raised his head and activated Ghost Eye to peer through the rocks, he immediately frowned at his discovery.

"Big Brother Liu, what is it?" Gu Yu asked.

The dragon's head jutted out like a celestial bridge as if ready to soar into the sky.

"See that?" Liu Wuxie pointed at a jagged rock shaped like a dragon's fang near the peak.

"I noticed it, too. It doesn't look natural," Gu Yu replied. He had also noticed that particular rock but couldn't tell what was wrong with it as he didn't possess the Ghost Eye.

"There's an entrance behind it, leading downward," Liu Wuxie said. They spoke through divine sense, shielding their exchange from any nearby ears.

The nearby cultivators glanced at them like they were fools, unsure what the two were doing. After all, Liu Wuxie and Gu Yu did seem like they were staring at the sky in a daze.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go in!" Gu Yu urged. He was already eager to enter and see what awaited them.

"Not now. Let's wait for nightfall," Liu Wuxie replied, patting Gu Yu on the shoulder.

Although Gu Yu had grown significantly over the years, his personality still needed further refinement.

There were too many eyes in the surroundings. So, waiting for nightfall before entering the mountain unnoticed was better.

They pretended like nothing had happened and continued circling the mountain. They found no other entrances apart from the one behind the dragon's fang.

Many cultivators lost interest and left at nightfall, but more had arrived.

Late that night, two shadow figures slipped up toward the dragon's head. Unbeknownst to them, there was a pair of eyes watching them.

"Liu Wuxie, you think no one knows who you are, but I do," said a youth hiding behind a large boulder.

He had recognized Liu Wuxie. He was one of the few among the tens of thousands of cultivators in the sacred ground who knew Liu Wuxie.

"Big Brother Liu, how are you going to get up there?" Gu Yu asked.

As a Spirit Profound Realm cultivator, he could fly, but Liu Wuxie was only at the True Profound Realm. It would take days for him to climb the mountain, as he would have to make a long detour.

"I have my ways," Liu Wuxie replied, gesturing for Gu Yu to go ahead of him while he guarded their backs.

Nodding his head, Gu Yu shot upward, streaking toward the dragon's head.
