Disaster Apocalypse: Farming, Family, and My Hidden Secret Space-Chapter 59. Scared to death
Chapter 59: 59. Scared to death
Shaking his head, thinking he was just dizzy from the collision and hallucinating, Hua Chengtian realized it wasn’t an illusion when he saw the wild boar twitching on the ground and the arrow tail on its body.
His daughter really disappeared into thin air right in front of him.
Disappeared...
Hua Chengtian panicked; his daughter was missing.
"Jin’er..."
"Jin’er... where are you... Jin’er..."
Staggering to his feet, Hua Chengtian fell unsteadily to the ground but managed to get back up the next moment, frantically searching around, completely forgetting about the wild boar on the ground and disregarding his own injuries.
The usually calm and composed Hua Chengtian was now utterly at a loss, searching the spot where his daughter had disappeared over and over, spinning around endlessly, unable to find any trace of his child, instinctively searching.
"Jin’er... Jin’er, where are you? Come out, don’t scare your father..."
The confused and anxious Hua Chengtian was being watched from the space by Hua Jin, who saw everything clearly. Seeing the injuries he sustained to help her and her brother escape, Hua Jin, who had been hesitating, could no longer afford to think much and vanished from the space.
"Father," Hua Jin called softly, her eyes filled with apprehension.
Hua Chengtian froze, turned around abruptly, and stumbled towards his daughter, whom he thought he’d lost forever, pulling her into his arms, his eyes instantly reddening.
It scared him to death; he almost... almost thought his daughter would never come back.
He was so nervous that he held her tightly, to the point where Hua Jin had to speak up again, "Father, it hurts."
Only then did Hua Chengtian realize, quickly relaxing his grip and carefully examining his daughter, finally breathing a sigh of relief.
As long as she’s not hurt, that’s good, that’s good.
He was oblivious to the fact that he was covered in injuries, with some wounds still bleeding.
"Father, sit down," Hua Jin couldn’t hold back anymore, pulling her father to sit down on the ground.
With a flip of her hand, a small medicine box from the space appeared, and without looking at her father’s astonished expression, she began treating his wounds.
Thankfully, they were just minor injuries from dodging, and he hadn’t been directly hit by the boar. Hua Jin slightly relaxed but still planned to have a doctor check later, otherwise, she wouldn’t be at ease.
After bandaging the wounds, she noticed tears falling in large drops from her eyes, overwhelmed by fear. Thinking about what might have happened if she hadn’t acted quickly, or if she had hesitated even slightly, the consequences...
Hua Jin dared not imagine, thankful... thankful, otherwise, this would have been her lifelong nightmare.
What Hua Chengtian feared most was his daughter crying. At this moment, he didn’t care about his shock and confusion, gently patting her back and soothing her softly, "Don’t cry, don’t cry, daddy’s here, don’t be afraid!"
The moment he said that, Hua Jin’s tears flowed even more intensely, and she burrowed into Hua Chengtian’s arms, wailing. If she hadn’t managed to keep some sense, fearing to attract other beasts, she would be crying out loud instead.
Hua Chengtian’s heart nearly shattered as his daughter cried. She had never cried like this before; even with severe injuries last time, she only shed a few tears. His eyes, already red, became even redder, and he could only hold her, gently patting her back to comfort her.
Hua Jin didn’t know what came over her; when she heard her father’s words, she suddenly wanted to cry aloud. In fact, she did cry out, and at that moment, Hua Jin felt as though she was suddenly lighter, as if she had been cleansed and reborn from within.
The emotions came quickly and left just as fast, ceasing within a dozen breaths.
"Father," Hua Jin wiped the tears from her face, showing an embarrassed smile, snuggling close into her father’s embrace without any discomfort. At this moment, Hua Jin knew she had fully merged with the little girl, truly becoming Hua Jin, fully accepting this father and this home.
"Alright, alright," seeing his daughter’s smiling face, Hua Chengtian finally breathed a sigh of relief, and his face relaxed.
"Father, don’t you... have anything you want to ask?" Hua Jin pursed her lips, gathering her courage to speak first.
Of course, Hua Chengtian knew what his daughter was talking about.
How could he not have questions; he had many and desperately wanted to know. Recalling the scenes of his daughter shooting the boar and suddenly vanishing and reappearing, Hua Chengtian wanted to figure out the reasons immediately.
But, looking at the place beneath him and the dead wild boar nearby, with the thick scent of blood in the air, it wasn’t the right time to ask anything.
"If you want to tell, father would like to know, but for now, we better leave this place first." Hua Chengtian gave Hua Jin a doting smile, glancing at the wild boar beside them.
Whatever secret the child had, as long as she was his daughter, that was enough.
Hua Jin also realized, standing up straight, "Father, you’re right, let’s leave quickly."
"Ah... little brother," Hua Jin suddenly cried out, remembering she had pushed Xiao Si to hide in a tree.
...The child must be terrified right now.
"Father, let’s go quickly, I hid my brother in a tree." Saying this, she couldn’t stay put any longer, grabbing her father with one hand and, with a wave towards the wild boar, performed another magic trick in front of her father.
Otherwise, taking care of such a large animal would be hard for her and her father, but being extremely worried about her brother in the tree, she dared not delay.
As for revealing the space, it was already exposed, so exposing it a few more times didn’t matter, and she had already made up her mind.
A father who would sacrifice himself to protect his children, how could she not trust him?
Hua Jin was willing to give herself a chance, knowing it was risky, but if it was for her closest ones, she was willing to take that risk.
Upon hearing this, Hua Chengtian became anxious, hurrying to stand up. Fortunately, after a brief rest, he finally had some strength, although he still felt a pang of guilt for having completely forgotten about his younger son. He followed his daughter, briskly heading down the mountain.
Before he and his daughter stopped, he saw the red-faced boy sliding down from the tree, crying and calling out as he ran to them. It was the first time Hua Chengtian had seen such a pitiful sight in his child.
"Wah... father, sister... you’re finally back..." Upon seeing the wound on his father’s head, the "wah wah" cries grew louder.
He was clearly terrified.
In fact, he was really scared, experiencing such direct danger for the first time.
He had often heard adults saying the mountains were dangerous and he shouldn’t go there, but it always went in one ear and out the other, thinking the adults exaggerated and dismissing it. But now, he believed them.
During the time he spent in the tree, Little Si didn’t know how he managed to hold on, knowing how much effort it took to keep himself from crying out.
He was young, but he knew there was nothing he could do and the only thing he could do was not to become a burden to his sister, so he quietly stayed in the tree.
When he saw his father and sister appear, Little Si couldn’t hold it in anymore, crying and sliding down from the tree, throwing himself into their arms, holding them tightly with his small arms, his body trembling as he cried.
