“Wh-… Thi- This is outrageous!”, the Grand Elder of the Flowing Petal Hall shouted as the Elders and Disciples around him ran to the clearing dust, where a bloodied Yun Ping lay unconscious amid the rubble, “This can’t be counted!”

“And why can it not?”, the Martial Alliance representative spoke, although he clearly was surprised as well.

“Y-You saw it! He moved too fast! No one in Mortal Transcendence Realm could move that fast, even if he was a Heaven’s Chosen!”, the Grand Elder shouted, “He clearly cheated somehow, or is concealing his cultivation!”

“You are making strong accusations, Grand Elder”, a Grand Elder of the Serene Harmony Sect spoke, “I hope you do have some proof to not lose face if you are wrong. Besides, look closely before you speak”

The Grand Elder of the Serene Harmony Sect pointed to the arena where Wu Long stood before the match started, four talismans on the ground where his feet were and two suspended in the air, all pulsating with subsiding energy.

“I-Instant Propulsion Pulse Talismans and Acceleration Talismans? Th-that’s…”, Grand Elder of the Flowing Petal Hall widened his eyes.

“…completely within the regulations as a means of a spar”, the representative of the Martial Alliance finished for him, adding with a bit of disdain, “Even though it is not a respectable way for those who do not practice Symbol Arts to use them, in such a sneaky way on top, it is, nonetheless, not against the rules of conduct”

His tone then shifted back to a more official one as he concluded, “Therefore the Martial Alliance will acknowledge the results of this match, and I strongly urge the Flowing Petal Hall to not make careless remarks and baseless accusations going forward. If there were any violations the Martial Alliance would have raised the issue”

Wu Long couldn’t care less about all that talk, as he heard it an uncountable number of times in his past life, since the Sects who chose to be part of the Martial Alliance somehow got it into their heads that a ‘respectable way’ is to fight showing off every move or action to your opponent as you clash head-on.

Any tactical or strategic thinking, as well as utilizing auxiliary arts and all the means of combat was deemed cowardly, and for those ‘without honor’.

“This…”, the Elders of the Profound Union Pavilion looked at each other in dismay”

“It doesn’t change anything”, however, the female Disciple spoke confidently, stepping forward “That trick won’t work twice”

With a swift and light step she floated forward onto the platform, arriving at the spot where Wu Long was standing before, as he was now on the opposite side.

Wu Long turned to her with a smile.

“I don’t think there was anything wrong with your move, an opponent in real combat would not hesitate to use whatever means they have”, she spoke with a confident smile of her own, causing frowns to appear on the faces of the Martial Alliance members and some of the Elders and Grand Elders.

“I appreciate your statement, Fairy…”

“Yunxi, my name is Li Yunxi, a Core Disciple of the Profound Unity Pavilion, but I would prefer you use my given name”, she replied swiftly.

“Very well, Fairy Yunxi”, Wu Long obliged with a smile, not questioning it after sensing quite a strong aversion to using the family name, adding, “Wu Long”

The moment he spoke his name a stronger shockwave went through the stands around, though Li Yunxi didn’t seem to understand why, expressing surprise at that reaction.

“Th-this crazy…”

“How dare he…”

“Calm down!”, the Martial Alliance representative raised his voice with Spiritual Qi added onto it, inwardly sighing, ‘Tsk, these Dual Cultivators and their damned God of Pleasure… talk about an annoying bunch to be around when that name is spoken aloud… though they’re not the only ones, really, there’s always someone agitated by that damn name… seriously, parents should stop naming their children Long if their surname is Wu…’

The Sect Master of the Southern Sea Island Sect covered his face with both hands, mortified, as he inwardly screamed, ‘… after Seven Heavens know how much I warned him not to tell them his full name… he still did it!’

The Martial Alliance representative then turned his gaze to Wu Long, narrowing his eyes, “Forgive this reaction, Daoist Wu, but being a Dual Cultivator yourself, you must understand it is imperative I confirm this in this situation, is your real name truly, Wu Long? I hope you are not using that name to make a mockery of all the Sects here…”

“It really is my name”, Wu Long shrugged his shoulders, nodding.

“Hmm, very well then. As you all heard, everyone, this seems to be a simple case of an identical name. It might be uncanny because this person is a Dual Cultivator… but there’s no law preventing anyone with the name to become one”, the Martial Alliance representative nodded, not seeing any signs of cheekiness or amusement on Wu Long’s face or in his demeanor.

He could also see the Southern Sea Sect’s Sect Master’s reaction, which further confirmed it was likely indeed a real name he gave before.

At the same time, being in his position, he recalled rumors from the Imperial Palace about a certain man, named Wu Long, appearing in the Emerald Falls City, as well as making a ruckus in the 5th prince’s palace. It got stuck in his memory precisely because of this name.

‘Heh, no wonder that Disciple of the Flowing Petal Hall couldn’t do anything… and this Disciple of the Profound Union Pavilion is unlikely to win either… if the rumors are true this man defeated someone in 5th-level Essence Gathering Realm who consumed an Essence Ignition Pill… though that certainly casts doubt on whether he is really in Mortal Transcendence Realm’, the Martial Alliance representative looked at Wu Long in thought.

However, he didn’t voice any of that, deciding to hold on to that thought, turning his gaze of narrowed eyes to Li Yunxi, ‘As for her… those features… it can’t be…’

Meanwhile, Li Yunxi finally made a connection, “Oh! Hahaha, so that’s what it was…”

Though it was obvious she still was vague about the details of what the name meant for the people around, only distantly remembering she heard it in connection to Dual Cultivation.

“Khe-khm!”, the Martial Alliance representative cleared his throat, and made the same announcement he made before Wu Long’s match with Yun Ping, receiving the agreement from both Wu Long and Li Yunxi.

The latter then grinned, as the hand of the Martial Alliance representative went up into the air with a ‘Prepare!’ statement, speaking to Wu Long with a cheeky gaze, “Hehe, although I did say I think your method of winning the previous match was fair game, don’t expect it to work on me”

“Start!”

Her surroundings slightly shook as Spiritual Qi was agitated, and with rising intense waves of Spiritual Qi in all directions, a quite large, beautiful handle appeared in the air before her, grabbed by her delicate hand which made the handle seem even larger, it started forming a long whip out of Spiritual Qi from the end of the handle, suspended in the air in rings around her.

“Dao Armament Cultivation?”, Wu Long raised his eyebrow, seeing a very rare type of cultivation, which he only saw less than a hundred times in his entire past life.1

“Oh~? You’re very knowledgeable, Daoist Wu”, Li Yunxi showed a surprised gaze along with her confident and amused smile, “Yes indeed, this is an Ancient Dao Armament, the Whip of Thousand Yin Winds”

Wu Long smiled, thinking ‘Makes sense that I got so confused… that is an Extreme Yin Dao Armament…’

He could now feel the full aura of Extreme Yin from the whip and mainly its handle, likely an ancient inheritance.

‘So she chanced upon a great inheritance from an Ancient Ruin and then used it to get accepted into the Profound Union Pavilion… no wonder she doesn’t seem to be at all interested in Dual Cultivation, it was just that a Dual Cultivation Sect would show the greatest interest in the inheritance she obtained, so she took that chance to try and reach for the stars…’, he finally understood the feeling of disconnect between her and her Sect’s values.

What she wanted, were the resources and opportunities that being with a Sect provided, even if it was a Dual Cultivation Sect she had no interest in. Her cultivation method was almost entirely unrelated to Dual Cultivation, after all, and it was mentioned she didn’t accept any partners.

The Sect, on the other side of the equation, wanted the inheritance she obtained which she likely gave out in parts. In which case it was likely a type of inheritance that fully merged with her, like the Dao Armament whip that became part of her cultivation, and could not be extracted.

‘Ambitious, quick-witted and decisive… I like her already’, he inwardly chuckled, feeling his greed awakening. Quite a different greed from the one cultivators all around had in their eyes as they looked at that weapon giving off an Ancient aura.
