Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 613: Fight for your right Part 3
"Medics, treat his wounds but make sure he remains unconscious." Anvil said with a jagged breathing caused not by exertion, but due to a small dagger jabbed in his lung.
"Sir, you're wounded!" The first medic to arrive pointed out. She was a woman that seemed to be on her twenties, though judging by her tall stature it was easy to identify her as a heavenly rank hunter. She wore an unbuttoned lab coat that showed the business attire she wore beneath it which accompanied to her stern expression and her cold blue eyes sent shivers down what remained of Uriel's spine.
"This is nothing, our priority is to keep the subject alive for study and interrogation." Anvil said as he attempted to take out the dagger from his back, failing to do so due to his broad muscles.
'Study and interrogation? So this is what happens to hunters with rare traits and hybrids when they're careless and show powers people don't understand. Jon can afford to showcase his power without issues because nobody is dumb enough to oppose a holy rank hunter, but I'm far from that.' A helpless smile was drawn on Uriel's face causing the approaching medic to flinch.
"Sir, the subject is still conscious." The female doctor informed as more doctors surrounded their defeated enemy. She had seen enough of Uriel through the battle to be more than reluctant to get near him even when he seemed to be down. More so, because the reason why her boss wanted to keep him alive was to study his mysterious abilities and there was no telling as to what could they be.
'Of course I'm conscious,' Uriel continued his train of thought, still unable to so much as lift a finger. 'Now that I think about it, the army let Cassandra even after learning she was a hybrid. They also took in people with weird traits like Rusty, Young and Mayhem. They were all a bunch of weirdos and lacked discipline and yet, the army still treated them fairly.
Besides, they're the only ones who want to eradicate cryptids for good. Maybe I should give the army a chance, not as soldiers though, probably becoming a contractor would suit us better.' With a broken spine, a bruised body and surrounded by enemies most people would think about their end. This, however, wasn't Uriel's case who instead focused on the future.
"Just beat him an inch from death then heal him and for fuck's sake someone take this goddamn needle from my back." Anvil shouted as he could feel something wrong within his body. The dagger itself wasn't big enough to cause him too much damage in a single stab, but the more time it remained lodged inside him the more life essence he lost.
"That's my cue." Uriel grinned with malevolence prompting the female doctor to jump back a glimpse of a second before Uriel stored the Red thread of fate in his museum and summoned it back on his hand and sliced everyone around him by swirling the detachable blade around like a hasp.
The sudden relief caused by the absence of the dagger lodged on Anvil's back lasted only until he saw Uriel stand back and dust his clothes like nothing happened and his men be turned into minced meat in just a second.
"This isn't possible, he's not human!" The woman's face stiffened as she retreated without daring to turn her back on Uriel whose eyes were now brimming with power and confidence.
"Get back here, I still need backup!" Anvil shouted, his commanding voice turned into a thin voice.
"Where were we?" Uriel spoke calmly as he cracked his neck to make sure his bones were snapped in the proper position, then lunged towards the behemoth of a man to return the favor with a bash of his own. Uriel lacked the mass to even move him, but due to the contact area being smaller the hit was so powerful it bent the detective forward leaving him in a bowing position to regain his breath.
"You bastard..." Anvil grimaced when he noticed that he lost so many supporting traits he was now affected by the pink gas.
Unfortunately to Uriel, the one who suffered more damage from the collision was himself and he was now left with his shoulder completely dislodged from its position and even after snapping it back to place it was rendered useless. Then, he switched his gaze from Anvil to the stunned doctor that had yet to take enough distance.
"No! Don't come closer!" She fell on her butt and extended both hands in front of her as if that would be enough to protect her from the predator that chose her as its new prey.
"What the hell happened to the turrets!? Someone give me a report." Without his earpiece the only way Anvil had to convey his orders was through shouting which he could only do after gathering his breath. Helping his comrade didn't even cross his mind, instead he was thankful that she distracted Uriel long enough for him to speak.
"I just disabled them." Medusa said calmly after blocking Uriel's dagger with a shield she picked up from the ground.
"Why are you stopping me?" Uriel glared at Medusa with a jagged breath inwardly wondering if she switched sides for some reason.
"There's no need to kill them. We took control of the automatic turrets, the crew is safe and most of the enemies retreated." She explained and threw away what remained of the reinforced alloy shield that was spliced in two by Uriel's slash.
"But I need to heal." Uriel whined while looking at the woman on the ground as nothing but health kit, a crying, sobbing and scared one at that.
"Just because you can kill someone doesn't mean you should. Bad Uriel." Luna said.
"Great, now you gave her my name. I really have to kill her now." Uriel tried and failed to walk past Medusa and Luna who stood in his way.
"I won't tell anyone, I swear." The woman begged.
While this was taking place, detective Anvil took the chance to make his move. Thanks to the pink cloud he was able to move unseen towards the Pegasus. This operation was a means to boost his career and grant him a bigger share of the city's budget and just because some of his men died didn't mean the mission was failed.
All he needed was to enter the zeppelin and take a few hostages to force them to pilot it away. He was so close to achieve everything he wanted. So close to becoming one of the city's most powerful citizens and to gain the political influence he desired. But all his hopes were cut short when distant shouts informed a shift in the tides of battle.
"A holy rank hunter and a heavenly rank hunter arrived!" A combatant announced to the top of his lungs in hopes to dishearten their enemies, but his enthusiasm wasn't shared by Anvil.
"What on earth happened here?" Allegro muttered when he saw the pool of blood and viscera on the ground, his voice muffled by the cheers of his people. The holy rank hunter took his time to scan the battlefield and he quickly got the idea of what happened. He was tall and handsome beyond reason, but more than that he was widely known for his unparalleled strength and decisive character.
"It's them, they're the enemy!" The doctor pointed her finger at the nearby hunters without a trace of her previous humble attitude.
Uriel, Luna and Medusa all gulped down at the same time when they felt the pressure exerted just by the man's presence. It was so intense Medusa could tell he was looking at them despite him not channeling a single drop of his vast flux energy pool.
"I'll be the judge of that." Allegro casually walked by the dungeon Raiders and helped the woman stand on her feet, frowning at the smell of urine that filled his nostrils.
"I... we..." Medusa tried to explain the situation, but failed. Not because of the man's power, but because his voice was the loveliest she had ever heard in her life. It was the kind of voice that made everyone think there had to be a handsome man behind it, though even Medusa's imagination couldn't possibly picture the extent of his beauty and charm.
"You should have let me do it." Uriel's reaction contrasted heavily with Medusa's meek attitude and he gritted his teeth while he readied for battle. When he first heard people shouting that a holy rank hunter had arrived Uriel thought it had to be the wild girl accompanied by Sharp.
"We can't..." Luna muttered making Uriel think she referred to the act of killing someone to heal his shoulder, but she continued. "We can't win." All hope was lost when Luna let those words out as her character allowed her to analyze situations with a cool head and assess the level of threat an enemy posed.
But that only lasted until a roaring sound came from the distance and a fiery jaguar jumped in between the holy rank hunter and Uriel.
