Even If I'm Reborn as a Cute Dragon Girl, I Will Still Make a Harem-Chapter 9Book 6: : Greenie
“At last… I can finally put an end to this.”
The lake stilled once again, and Three turned her gaze toward the small island in its midst known as Square Island.
Previously scorched barren by Lilith’s magic, the island now teemed with life. The life force emanating from hundreds of healing scrolls had merged, causing a cool drizzle to fall, dampening the ground. Wherever the rain touched, breathtaking flowers and greenery burst forth.
“Still making futile efforts at this point?” Three snorted disdainfully. Even if Lilith’s limbs were regenerated, what then? Could she truly escape on those newly sprouted feet? Ridiculous.
Three moved toward the island, but as she was about to step forward, she paused, withdrawing her foot silently. A strange fish surged violently from the lake’s depths, lunging toward where Three had almost stepped. Thanks to her timely retreat, the fish missed her.
“What a pest!” Annoyed, Three reduced the fish into a bloody puddle with a smack.
However… Gurgling noises and rising bubbles made the lake’s surface seem to boil as more strange fish surged up, like moths to a flame, all hurtling toward Three.
With a soft stomp, Three sent an invisible wave radiating from her foot outward. The ferocious fish, meeting this fluctuation, popped like bubbles against raindrops, dissolving into blood mist.
None could reach Three. Even the blood mist was repelled by a subtle, shimmering light a few meters from her body.
“Wouldn’t it be simpler to just play dead?”
Peering into the lake’s depths, Three suddenly extended her hand and made a grasping motion.
The water’s surface rippled.
Then, a muffled sound erupted from below, and Three’s clenched fist trembled as if whatever she had grasped had broken free. Her expression shifted, and she glanced at her hand.
The backlash had caused a trace of blood to slowly trickle down from her palm.
Surprisingly, the fact that the other party was still able to escape from her grasp in this state meant that it had used some kind of sacrificial ability to gain a brief surge of power.
However, the side effects of this ability were so severe that it could threaten its own life.
Yet, all it managed to achieve was a temporary slowdown.
But what good was that anymore? It only served to marginally increase the already minuscule chance of the Dragon Princess escaping—so slim it was almost nonexistent.
But…
But…
“Why? Why are you so obsessed with saving that kind of existence?” Three’s expression contorted darkly, her voice rising in anger as she roared into the water.
“Do you have any idea how terrifying that being inside the Dragon Princess’ body truly is? Do you understand the catastrophe the entire Great World will face if that entity is allowed to escape? How many will bleed and die, how many will be displaced?”
“At your level, you should have spiritual intelligence. So, look at the reality—there’s no need for you to risk your life to save a devil! Get the hell out of here! I won’t kill you! Just get lost!”
A massive, grotesque head emerged from the water, hideous and dripping with blood. Its scales were damaged, and its once mighty mane now resembled the sparse hair atop an old man’s head.
Yet, Greenie still glared at Three with eyes that could barely open, standing in her way with its massive body, unwilling to move an inch. Greenie understood Three’s words clearly. It knew that stepping aside was the only way for it to survive.
But in that frozen world thousands of years ago, it was the blonde girl behind it who had dug it out of the ice under the snowy sky. She had given it warmth. She had given it food. She had given it life. She had given it a name. She had given it everything it had now.
Even though she would soon forget about it. Even though she would soon leave it behind. Even though every time they met after that, she would hate its ugly appearance…
If its survival for thousands of years was at the cost of her life… Then it would rather remain buried in that ice field thousands of years ago.
“From now on, you will be called Greenie. You must grow into a beautiful, large green snake. Don’t let me down!”
“Greenie, look! I commissioned the best painter in town for a portrait of the world’s most beautiful woman just for you. You should use this as a reference in the future when you can take on a human form.”
“Greenie, how can you be so picky with your food? Come on, this is a thousand-year-old rat essence I got especially for you. Eat it; maybe you’ll be able to transform right away.”
“……”
“Greenie… I’m leaving now. You must remember to eat well on your own. You can’t eat only once a month… That’s not healthy… I hope that when I see you again… you’ll be a beautiful woman with a great figure. I… I love… beauty more than anything…”
“……”
Greenie shook her head. Those distant memories were becoming increasingly blurred. Many details were hard to recall, but there was one thing that remained clear, like the blooming sea of flowers in the present…
It was the smile… the smile Lilith had given her when she held her in her arms. That smile had been radiant and warm, the only light that illuminated her cold, lonely world.
Greenie silently looked back, and crystalline tears, mixed with blood, flowed down from the corners of its… her eyes.
In the end, despite her cultivation realm, she had still failed to transform… No, rather than not being able to transform, it felt more like it had been far too long.
The portrait you had so carefully prepared for me, I can no longer remember what it looks like. But if I turn out to be not what you expected, then I’d rather never take human form. In the end, I still let you down. freewebnσvel.cѳm
“Sorry… master…”
This was the first time Greenie had spoken since her birth thousands of years ago. The language felt foreign on her tongue but they carried all the deep emotions she had held for these long years.
Greenie turned her head, this time facing her formidable opponent, Three, and revealed her intimidating fangs.
“Is that so? I see now that you also have something you must protect…” Three murmured in understanding.
A terrifying pressure rose around Three. She gazed at Greenie, no longer with the scorn and contempt she had once held.
“I apologize for my previous offense. You are a worthy opponent. Please, tell me your name.” Three spoke solemnly.
“Green…ie,” the serpentine creature said proudly, pronouncing each syllable slowly.
“Is that so? Greenie… huh? Hehe, that’s a nice name.” Three took a deep breath, and divine power surged around her violently. “Greenie, I shall bury you and the Dragon Princess together once all this is over.”
