Chapter 121 - Ch 121 : Purpose

Deep Within Nirvana.

Dylan furrowed his brows, trying his best to decipher the "scribbles" on the map while slowly making his way forward.

"Hey, hey, is the map that Garlos gave me even correct?" Dylan scratched his head in frustration.

"Seriously, I hate dealing with this kind of troublesome stuff. If I don't finish this task before the effects of Stella's magic wear off, I'll lose my combat abilities while stuck on Nirvana, this oversized transport. If that happens and the mission fails... I'll just blame Garlos. Yeah, that sounds about right."

( All dragon slayer mage have Motion Sickness )

After mentally shifting all the responsibility onto Garlos, Dylan felt slightly relieved.

He crumpled the map into a ball, placed both hands behind his head, and casually hummed an unfamiliar tune as he rounded a corner.

Then, his gaze fell upon a massive wall covered in countless intricate patterns and symbols.

"Ahh, so I really did find it. There shouldn't be any mistake... As expected, my luck is pretty good," Dylan muttered as he blinked, reopening the crumpled map to compare it with the carvings on the wall.

Once he confirmed the match, a satisfied smile appeared on his face.

A chilling white frost began to swirl around his hands as Dylan let out a low shout.

"[Ice Dragon's Rending Fist]!"

Boom! A thunderous impact echoed as Dylan's frost-covered fist struck the wall before him.

Instantly, a thick layer of solid ice spread across its surface.

Dylan retracted his hand, crossing his arms while observing the frozen wall.

Crack! A faint sound rang out as fractures began to spread across the ice, resembling a spiderweb.

Then, with a sharp bang, the frozen wall shattered along with the ice, crumbling into countless shards.

"Controlling my strength is such a hassle... Whatever. I should grab what I need and then go find His Majesty Nord and Natsu." Dylan's eyes curved into crescent moons as he slowly stepped through the now-open passage.

Beyond the wall lay a space spanning several dozen square meters.

At its center stood a massive stone platform, atop which a small, glowing cubic object emitted a faint, eerie light.

"There it is... One of the materials required for the artifact that Master is constructing."

Taking a step forward, Dylan reached out toward the luminous cube on the stone platform.

Tss— A sharp pain, like an electric shock, shot through Dylan's nervous system, making him instinctively retract his hand.

"Damn it, that hurts...." He shook his hand, then tapped his own head with the other. "Ah, I forgot—Garlos did mention that I shouldn't touch it directly."

Shaking his head, Dylan reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box.

Opening it carefully, he brought it close to the cubic object resting on the stone platform.

Click. The cube offered no resistance as it was neatly sealed inside the box.

A relieved smile spread across Dylan's lips as he held the box in his hands, turning it over playfully.

"Done~. Speaking of which, those Nirvit people sure are wasteful. They actually treated this thing as just the core of Nirvana? A 'Light-Dark Converter'... what a waste. This thing's value is dozens of times greater than that broken magic system. This is... one of the materials that can touch the center of the world."

He glanced at the stone platform with mild amusement.

"Now that I've taken it, Nirvana has lost its ability to convert light and darkness. I wonder if the Oracion Seis will... Meh, not my problem. They're just a bunch of clowns. Even if I didn't take this, they wouldn't have been able to use Nirvana to achieve their goals anyway."

"Hmm?" Dylan's nose twitched slightly—he had caught a scent. No, two scents.

A bright, cheerful smile appeared on his face.

"My luck really is great."

............

"Noel, please wake up! What happened to you?"

Inside Nirvana, Wendy had followed Noel's scent and arrived at a certain room within the structure.

She knelt beside him, gently pushing his shoulder while calling out in a soft voice.

At that moment, Noel was lying face-down on the ground, his eyes tightly shut, as if trapped in a deep slumber.

Wendy tried using her magic to heal him, but soon realized that he wasn't injured—he had fallen unconscious due to some unknown cause.

"Carla, what's wrong with Noel?" Wendy looked helplessly at Carla, seeking an answer.

Carla shook her head. "How would I know? But he doesn't seem to be in any immediate danger... Anyway, it's probably best to call the others over."

"Is that so..." Wendy hesitated. "But... would it be dangerous to just leave Noel here alone?"

"You... Are you planning to carry him out all by yourself?"

"Well... I can't do that." Wendy lowered her head in disappointment.

Even though Noel's frame was considered slender among boys his age, the difference in size was still there.

For Wendy, carrying him out alone was simply too much.

"Sigh... Fine, I won't lecture you anymore. But leaving him lying on the ground like this isn't a good idea either. Let's at least prop him up against the wall." Carla sighed, rubbing her forehead in resignation.

Hearing Carla's suggestion, Wendy suddenly realized she hadn't thought of that.

She hurriedly lifted Noel's upper body and, with some effort, dragged him toward a nearby wall, slowly moving his body into a more stable position.

"There, that should do it." Wendy wiped the sweat from her forehead and looked at Noel, who was now resting against the wall in deep sleep.

Thud. Thud.

A series of crisp sounds reached Wendy and Carla's ears.

Both of them turned their gazes toward the wall opposite them, where the sound was coming from.

"Wendy... did you hear that?"

Wendy nodded. "Yeah... Something's getting closer, Carla..."

As Wendy and Carla spoke, the noise grew louder and closer.

With a sudden, thunderous crash, the opposite wall was shattered into icy shards.

The shockwave from the explosion sent Wendy's hair fluttering wildly.

"Well, well, we meet again, Sky Dragon's Wendy."

A lively voice echoed in their ears.

A moment later, a green-haired boy slowly stepped forward from the icy wreckage.

Wendy's eyes widened slightly. "You... You're..."

"Wendy, do you know this guy?" Carla tilted her head, asking curiously.

"Mm, this person is from Demon God's Soul," Wendy said, her face turning wary.

"The child of the Sky Dragon, Grandine... Wendy," Dylan mused.

"What a pity—you're not a combat-type Dragon Slayer like Igneel's child, Natsu Dragneel. If you were, I might have been more interested in you. Well, never mind. Is that His Majesty Nord sleeping over there?"

"Don't you dare come near Noel!" Wendy hurriedly stepped between Dylan and Noel, spreading her arms wide in a defensive stance.

"Oh~?" Dylan's lips curved into an amused smile.

"Alright then, since His Majesty Nord is still asleep, I suppose I'll play with you for a bit. Let's have some fun to pass the time."

At that moment, neither Wendy, Dylan, nor Carla noticed that waves of Nirvana's energy were continuously being absorbed by the sleeping Noel.

A small, transparent vortex of magical power had begun to swirl around him.
