Chapter 217 - Ch 217 : Ed’s Return

Just as the members of Fairy Tail finally decided to participate in the Grand Magic Games,

The guild's doors suddenly swung open again.

The purple-haired, bespectacled girl, Laki, rushed in with an excited expression, loudly announcing to everyone inside, "Hey, everyone! Quiet down and listen to me—Ed is back!!"

"Really?!"

"He's finally back?!"

"That's great! If Ed participates in the Grand Magic Games, we might actually have a real chance of winning!"

Hearing Laki's words, the non-Tenrou Group members, who had been feeling down about the decision to participate, suddenly became excited.

"Who's Ed?"

Seeing the atmosphere shift so dramatically, Natsu looked at Romeo in confusion.

Although Fairy Tail had many members seven years ago, Natsu was sure there had never been anyone named Ed in the guild.

And judging by everyone's reaction, this Ed must hold an incredibly important position in their hearts.

Hearing Natsu's question, Romeo was momentarily stunned before realizing something.

He smiled and explained, "Oh, right, we haven't told you yet. Ed joined the guild seven years ago, right after you guys left for Tenrou Island. He's currently the strongest wizard in Fairy Tail!"

"It's not just that—he's also the only Fairy Tail wizard who is feared and respected by every other guild."

"If Ed had been around last time, those Twilight Ogre guys wouldn't have dared to mess with us."

"Even Jura from Lamia Scale might not be able to beat Ed!"

As the guild members all started talking at once, the Tenrou Group finally got a rough idea of who this mysterious Ed was.

"The strongest wizard in Fairy Tail right now... So, does that mean Ed is even stronger than Master, Noel, Gildarts, and Laxus?" Lucy asked in confusion.

"Uh..."

Hearing Lucy's question, the Fairy Tail members all paused their discussions, their faces showing expressions of deep thought.

"I think they're about the same."

"It's hard to say..."

"Though Master and the others are really strong, Ed wouldn't lose to them either."

"Alright," the more senior Macao sighed, rubbing his temples as if he had a headache.

"Let's stop this discussion. Ed is almost here—whatever you want to ask, just wait until he arrives."

With that, everyone quieted down and turned their eyes toward the entrance.

The Tenrou Group, in particular, was filled with unconcealed curiosity.

Soon, a figure appeared before them—a brown-haired young man with emerald-green eyes, a delicate and handsome face, and a soft, gentle smile at the corner of his lips.

He wore a neat white outfit, giving off an energetic and refreshing aura.

Without needing further explanation, the Tenrou Group instantly understood—this was Ed.

However, the moment they laid eyes on him, they all experienced a strange sense of deja vu.

Almost instinctively, their gazes shifted toward the silver-haired boy standing nearby, smiling quietly.

The resemblance was uncanny.

Whether it was the warm and soothing smile or the unforgettable aura, everything about Ed gave off the illusion that he and the silver-haired boy were the same person.

Yet, Noel—the one in question—showed no sign of surprise.

Instead, his eyes reflected a mix of joy and nostalgia.

At that moment, the brown-haired young man who had just reached the entrance suddenly stopped in his tracks.

His soft, emerald-green eyes widened in shock, and his body trembled slightly.

His voice quivered as he spoke:

"Is... Noel-nii?"

"It's been a long time, Ed. You've grown so much," Noel replied with a gentle smile.

"I remember when we last parted ways, you only reached my chest. Now, you're just half a head shorter than me."

"You and Ed know each other?" Mira asked in surprise.

Noel nodded and explained, "Not just me—Laxus knows him too. You should remember that Laxus and I once went on a Ten-Year Quest together, right? That's when we met Ed."

By now, Ed had quickly walked up to Noel, his eyes glistening with faint traces of tears.

Overcome with emotion, he said, "Master... no, Noel-nii, I finally get to see you again."

"Yeah, these past seven years must have been tough on you," Noel said softly.

Given Ed's strength, if he hadn't found Noel upon arriving at Fairy Tail, he could have easily joined top guilds like Sabertooth or Lamia Scale.

However, he had chosen to stay—remaining in what was considered the weakest guild for seven years.

Noel could fully imagine how hard it must have been for Ed to support Fairy Tail all on his own.

"This is what I was supposed to do. I once made a promise to you, Noel-nii, that I would come to Fairy Tail to find you," Ed said, scratching his head with a somewhat embarrassed smile.

"Oh, right," Macao suddenly patted his head as if he had just remembered something while watching Ed and Noel talk.

"I remember when Ed first came to the guild, he asked me where Noel was."

"Hah, you never mentioned that before," Wakaba complained.

"I forgot..."

"You..." Wakaba was speechless.

Once Ed had calmed down a little, Noel introduced him to the members of the Tenrou Team.

To everyone's surprise, Ed got along exceptionally well with Natsu and the others.

Their personalities clicked right away, and he quickly became part of the group.

When Ed learned that the guild had decided to participate in the Grand Magic Games, his excitement soared.

"I've wanted to participate for a long time! But the first time, I missed it because I was on a mission. After that, no one else in the guild was interested, so I gave up. But now, I finally get to join!" Ed said enthusiastically.

"Alright! Let's do this together!" Natsu cheered.

"Yeah! This is great!"

"I suddenly feel like we actually have a chance this time," Alzack said.

"Don't talk like that." Erza patted Alzack's shoulder and said, "We have to be confident. After our special training, we're definitely going to win the Grand Magic Games."

"Let's hope so."

"That's right! Training, training!!" Natsu said, clenching his fists.

A strange glint flashed across Gray's face, and he muttered, "Yeah... Forget about just beating Demon God's Soul. If we really want to win the Grand Magic Games, we'll have to train seriously for the next three months."

Unconsciously, Gray's gaze shifted toward Noel, his eyes flickering with anticipation.
