Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Poor Little Prince

"What kind of garbage content is this?"

Han Qiwu pieced it together in his mind and suddenly felt a surge of interest in reading it.

It seemed kind of interesting.

He’d take a closer look at it at home later.

"Alright, alright, it doesn’t sound that appealing to me anyway." Han Qiwu said, feigning disinterest as he headed back down to the museum lobby via the stairs. Meanwhile, Zack, as if someone had flipped his chatterbox switch, wouldn’t stop rambling about spoilers along the way.

"If you keep talking, I’ll head back." Han Qiwu made a show of turning around.

"Alright, alright, no more spoilers." Zack instantly quieted down, grinning as he wrapped an arm around Han Qiwu’s shoulder. "As long as you finish this book properly, I’m willing to give you some seeds as a personal gift."

"No problem at all, just give me the seeds first." Han Qiwu had already planned to give the book a proper read anyway.

Of course, the "proper read" was for the sake of his curiosity about dinosaurs, not at all because of the book’s contents.

Not at all!

"Here you go." Zack handed him a bag of seeds with a flick of his wrist.

[You have received ×4 cauliflower seeds.]

"Don’t worry, I’ll definitely read it properly when I get back." Han Qiwu carefully stashed away the seeds and bid Zack farewell.

Under the moonlight, Han Qiwu pedaled his bike slowly home, pondering over today’s haul as he rode.

"Four cauliflower seeds... If I plant them in that 3×4 plot from before, wouldn’t that make four spots where giant cauliflowers could potentially grow? I’ll plant them as soon as I get back!"

Once he was home, Han Qiwu first planted the four cauliflower seeds, then checked on the day’s foraging haul from the Little Prince.

[Pet Hunter: The Little Prince has returned from foraging, Satiety +60]

[Foraging haul: ×3 wild green onions, ×6 shepherd’s purse, ×2 purslane, ×2 wild chili peppers]

[Foraging complete. The Little Prince seems a bit dejected.]

"Not a bad haul today. It’s true what they say—chop the sapling and it grows straighter, spank the child and they behave. I guess I can reward him with two plates of regular honey tonight."

"But why’s he still a bit down? Could it be he didn’t eat enough today?" Han Qiwu found it odd and opened the Pet Hunter menu to check the Little Prince’s satiety level.

76. Nothing wrong there.

Han Qiwu first went to the kitchen and prepared two plates of honey, then walked over to the den entrance and gently called out:

"Little Prince? Come out, I’ve got honey for you."

"Awoo... hmm hmm." The Little Prince’s voice sounded pitiful, not his usual wheedling tone.

It sounded more like groaning in pain.

"Little Prince?" Han Qiwu grew anxious. Ignoring the mud around the den’s entrance, he grabbed the honey and slid down into the den.

By the time he entered, his lower half was already soaked in muddy water. Looking up, he finally noticed that the Little Prince had somehow excavated two drainage channels inside the den.

Aside from the muddy entrance, there wasn’t much water pooling in the cave.

The Little Prince lay on the dry grass, covering its face with its large bear paws, writhing restlessly.

"Little Prince? What’s wrong?" Han Qiwu set the honey aside and carefully inspected the bear for any signs of blood or external injuries.

After looking for a while, aside from appearing a bit chubbier, there was nothing obviously wrong.

"Awoo!"

Still covering its face, the Little Prince shuffled further away from Han Qiwu.

"Why are you hiding your face now?" Concerned, Han Qiwu crawled over to the Little Prince and forcefully pried its large bear paws apart.

"Hahahahaha!!"

Sorry, I couldn’t hold back.

The Little Prince had turned into the Big-faced Prince.

No wonder he wanted to cover his face—he was totally disfigured!

Han Qiwu took out his phone and shone a light on the Little Prince. Its eyes, lips, nose, and ears were all swollen, its large face peppered with dozens of red welts, each topped with a tiny, black sting.

"Did you go honey hunting?" Han Qiwu asked with a laugh.

"Hòu," the Little Prince groaned, full of grievance.

It wasn’t me who went for the honey—those bees stopped me from eating it!

Ugh, honey just tastes too good...

"Was it that beehive by the riverbank?" Han Qiwu noticed traces of ash on the Little Prince’s fur.

"Hòu!" The Little Prince pointed to its swollen face, frowning in pained distress.

"Silly bear. You can’t mess with bees on your own anymore. Next time, let me take you there. Luckily, it rained today, so the bees didn’t go far from their hive. If it had been a sunny day, who knows if you’d have even made it back!" Han Qiwu scolded the Little Prince sternly.

"Hòu hòu." The Little Prince nodded repeatedly, sticking out its tongue as if to lick its swollen face.

"Don’t move around." Han Qiwu first fed the Little Prince the two plates of honey to restore some energy, then began carefully plucking out the bee stings from its face one by one. As he did so, he smeared the remaining bit of Golden Star honey over the welts.

After finishing, Han Qiwu warned him seriously: "Be good tonight. Don’t lick off the honey on your face. It’s to neutralize the venom. If you eat it, I won’t help you anymore."

"Hòu hòu!" The Little Prince nodded rapidly, already feeling the pain on its face easing.

Next time, I swear I won’t go after honey again.

After leaving the den, Han Qiwu cleaned himself up, then started making a wild vegetable salad for dinner.

The preparation was simple: wash the wild greens, chop them into finger-length pieces, mix up a sauce according to the recipe, and toss everything together evenly.

While eating, the rain outside continued to pour harder and harder.

"I hope the Little Prince’s den isn’t flooding," Han Qiwu thought with some concern, readying his umbrella to go check.

"Knock! Knock! Knock!"

Before he could even put on his coat, there was a knock at the door.

Opening the door, he was greeted by a soaking wet bear.

"Awoo..."

"Hahaha!"

Han Qiwu burst out laughing without holding back. The Little Prince looked absolutely miserable today.

With a face full of grievance, the Little Prince looked at Han Qiwu.

Little Prince: "Seriously? My day’s this bad and you’re still laughing?"

"Come on in. Let me give you a bath first. You can sleep indoors tonight."

"Hòu!" The Little Prince instantly perked up.

An hour later, a sweaty Han Qiwu shoved the hair dryer into the Little Prince’s paws.

"Blow it yourself!"

The utterly confused Little Prince imitated Han Qiwu and aimed the dryer at its belly fur.

Warm, cozy. It felt so nice.

Slumped in a chair, Han Qiwu regretted this entire "bathing a bear" idea.

Who knew how the Little Prince could have so much fur?

And it wasn’t just a lot—it was matted, too.

There were times Han Qiwu thought his fingers were going to get tangled in it.

After washing, drying the fur was an even bigger ordeal.

Twenty minutes later and only the bear’s head was dry.

Too much trouble.

Why was raising a bear so hard anyway?

Another hour later, the now fully dry Little Prince gently rubbed its still-swollen big face against Han Qiwu’s cheek.

Han Qiwu: "???"
