First Immortal of the Sword-Chapter 1982: An Unforeseen Variable
Chapter 1982: An Unforeseen Variable
Four newly advanced gods stood up ahead.
They’d only just rushed over, and when they saw Su Yi charge their way, they couldn’t help but light up with surprise and delight. He’s throwing himself into the net? Wonderful!
Without the slightest hesitation, the four new gods attacked with all their might.
“Die!” Appalling divine majesty swept outward, and dazzling treasure light whooshed forth, transforming into a flood of all-encompassing destructive power that descended ruthlessly upon Su Yi.
Su Yi didn’t retreat. On the contrary, he sped up, his entire body like a sharp lance as he pierced the encirclement. All the while, he was swathed in resplendent, dazzling sword qi.
Kaboom!
The four new gods’ joint attack instantly broke, scattering into a rain of light that filled the sky.
Wherever Su Yi passed, he left a perfectly straight rift in his wake. At the front of the rift, two new gods’ bodies exploded, splattering blood.
In the last moments before their death, excitement and delight were written all over their faces. It was an incomparably ironic sight.
When the other two gods realized what was happening, they couldn’t help but shriek in terror and flee to the sides, their entire bodies quivering. Their faces paled in fright.
Su Yi’s momentum seemed unstoppable. He tore through their joint attack, killing two new gods in the process!!
It all happened too quickly. It was so fast and so tyrannical that it came as an extraordinarily powerful shock.
Gasps resounded throughout the surrounding area. Only the Angler and Master God Tian Huang were used to this. The other gods rushing in from all sides were unwittingly stunned.
“That guy…” When Wenren Qingyu saw this in the distance, her hair stood on end. Is such power really possible for a Great Unity Stage cultivator?
It was shocking even before factoring in Su Yi’s glaringly terrible wounds. He looked so wretched that it seemed he might topple at a moment’s notice.
Even so, he’d somehow managed to slay two new gods in an instant!!
“If that heretic were so easily killed, how could the Angler and Master God Tian Huang have chased him all this time without catching him?” whispered Wenren Qin.
As she spoke, she glanced at the Angler and Master God Tian Huang. She could tell at a glance that their avatars of will were damaged, especially the Angler’s!
“Hurry up and give chase!”
“Quick! He’s almost at his limit!”
Bellows rose and fell in waves. The experts rushing over from different directions all gave chase, each faster than the one before. All of them wanted to be the first to catch Su Yi!
“Daoist Brother, what should we do next?” Master God Tian Huang said glumly. He and the Angler didn’t give up the chase. They were even a bit faster than the others present.
“The situation has changed, and we cannot act recklessly. Just watch. Whoever attacks first will only become everyone else’s target! Even if they catch him alive, their competitors will swoop in and attack!” said the Angler, forcing the words through the gaps in his teeth. He was already overcome with fury.
First, the Dipankara Buddha interfered, costing him the perfect opportunity to capture Su Yi.
Second, Master God Tian Huang forced him to make concessions and agree to work together
Now, their competitors had rushed over, one after another, throwing the situation into complete chaos. Any advantage he’d had had vanished. How could the Angler have been anything but furious?
“Then we’ll just have to see who claims the prized deer in the end!” Master God Tian Huang said gravely. The situation had grown troublesome, and his expression was increasingly unsightly, too.
Earlier, he noticed that at least thus far, their competitors only included one other Master God: Wenren Qin. The others were Upper and Mid-Rank Gods, and although their avatars of will weren’t a threat, they were still trouble.
After all, no matter their original bodies’ cultivation bases, here in the Epoch Battlefield, everyone’s strength was limited to the Lesser God-level!
Boom!
Against all expectations, Wenren Qin attacked directly, taking out a resplendent, fiery rope. It flashed through the air and tried to intercept Su Yi.
The Magic Fire Blazing Summer Rope!
Master God Tian Huang and the Angler’s eyelids twitched. They both recognized this treasure, and they immediately moved to intercept it.
Bang!!
A heaven-shaking impact rang out as the Magic Fire Blazing Summer Rope was knocked backward mid-flight.
“What’s the meaning of this?” Wenren Qin’s expression darkened.
She was tall and slender, and her whole body was swathed in resplendent, crystal-clear divine flames. Her divine majesty was on full display.
“If we can’t have him, you can forget about having him either,” Master God Tian Huang said expressionlessly.
But then, the Angler said suddenly, “Fellow Daoist, if you’re willing to work together, I wouldn’t mind sharing a cut of the spoils!”
Wenren Qin laughed, and a look of utter disdain appeared on her face. “I’m afraid that working with you will only get me tricked and killed!”
The Angler’s expression darkened. “Then we’ll just have to leave it up to skill!”
“What, do you think I’m afraid of you?” said Wenren Qin. Still, although she said this, she made no further attempts to attack.
She’d obviously realized that if she tried it, the two old-timers were sure to interfere.
Even as they conversed, their pursuit never slowed. All of them relentlessly chased Su Yi. Were someone to gaze down from the dome of heaven, they’d see Su Yi leading the pack as he fled like mad. Numerous gods with terrifying auras followed hot on his heels. They weren’t far off, either.
That only made it all the more difficult for Su Yi to shake them off.
But it was also difficult for his enemies to catch up to him.
As time passed, more and more gods joined the pursuit, including two additional Master Gods.
One was a tall, stalwart man whose entire body emanated dazzling, stingingly bright, blood-red lightning: the Rahu Yao Ancestor.
The other was a man in Confucian robes. He held a bamboo tube in his hands, his temples were graying, and his face looked haggard and wan. This was the famous Severed Heavens Demon Master!
His descendant, Divine Daughter Gu Lingxiao, had died at Su Yi’s hands.
The arrival of two additional Master Gods made the Angler and Master God Tian Huang’s hearts sink. Each of these old-timers was more terrifying and ruthless than the one before!
Wenren Qin furrowed her brow. She too realized how thorny the problem was.
But neither the Rahu Yao Ancestor nor the Severed Heavens Demon Master took action recklessly. They too were on guard against the others.
“If things go on like this, the situation will only get all the more troublesome,” the Rahu Yao Ancestor said suddenly. “How about we work together to capture the heretic, then find a place to divvy up his good fortune later?”
“Very well.” Wenren Qin was the first to agree.
“As you say,” said the Severed Heavens Demon Master. He then looked at the Angler and Master God Tian Huang. “What say you?”
The Angler’s first impulse was to refuse. Of the Master Gods, he was the most badly injured, and he’d be no match for them in a direct confrontation.
But the Rahu Yao Ancestor, the Severed Heavens Demon Master, and Wenren Qin had already agreed. The Angler’s heart sank as he realized that if he refused, all of them were sure to target him!
Master God Tian Huang realized this as well. The two of them exchanged glances, then nodded their agreement.
“It’s settled! Next, I’ll capture him, while you prevent the others from getting in my way!” said the Rahu Yao Ancestor. He was obviously champing at the bit.
Before the words had even finished echoing through the air, he charged explosively.
Kcch!
A bloody ancient lamp floated forth, then surged with endless streaks of blood-red electricity. They wove into a bloody lightning purgatory that descended upon Su Yi.
The Celestial Tears of Blood Lamp, an Epoch Treasure of unfathomable power!
Meanwhile, Wenren Qin, the Angler, and the Severed Heavens Demon Master readied themselves for battle, but they weren’t exactly focused on “preventing the others from getting in the way.” They wanted to make sure the Rahu Yao Ancestor didn’t run off with their prize!
It all happened at once, and the other gods pursuing Su Yi were instantly solemn.
……
Meanwhile, Su Yi gazed far into the distance. There, he saw a wondrous sight.
It was a wall manifested entirely out of chaos mist, so high, that it connected the dome of heaven and the earth below. It was like a barrier severing the Epoch Battlefield!
And an enormous whirlpool surged at the center of the chaos wall. The whirlpool continuously erupted with chaos currents and billowed with firelight. From time to time, even Epoch Fragments spurted from the vortex.
The little monkey gestured to it and babbled with excitement. There was no doubt about it: the chaos whirlpool was the “safe place” it had told Su Yi about!
Su Yi’s spirits soared. He wasn’t the least bit concerned about the chaos whirlpool’s origins or if danger lurked within. He was in no position to concern himself with any of that.
Almost there! I’ll reach it in moments!
But Su Yi had only just thought that when his enemies attacked.
The Rahu Yao God’s Celestial Tears of Blood Lamp took to the sky and manifested a blood-red electric purgatory that descended from the heavens!
A powerful sense of impending crisis made Su Yi’s heart and body tense. Instinct told him that if he continued his charge, this attack would be enough to kill him!

Conversely, if he retreated, his enemies would surround him on all sides. He could neither advance nor retreat!
But to Su Yi, his next steps were obvious. He poured what little power he had left into his sword, and swung with all his might.
Boom!
Heaven and earth collapsed. Everything on all sides shook.
A terrifying current of destructive power sent Su Yi flying.
He’d blocked the Rahu Yao Ancestor’s attack, but he was intercepted in the process! His already badly injured body was now so covered in wounds that it resembled cracked porcelain. It was on the verge of shattering.
Due to his exhausted cultivation base, he slammed to the ground, his face covered in dirt. It was as if his entire body had fallen to pieces.
Indescribable helplessness and agony washed over Su Yi. He really couldn’t hold out much longer.
Deathly silence ensued. One attack, and the Rahu Yao Ancestor had successfully stopped Su Yi!
Numerous gods watched on eagerly. This was an unquestionably perfect opportunity. Su Yi was just lying there like a fatty piece of meat; everyone wanted to take a bite out of him!
“If anyone dares try anything, the five of us will kill them! And later, we’ll kill their true bodies, too!” said the Rahu Yao God as he swept his sinister and imposing gaze across the crowd.
The crowd’s hearts shook, and their expressions shifted.
Boom!
Meanwhile, the Rahu Yao God took a step forward, stretched out his hand, and reached for Su Yi.
The other four Master Gods were ready for battle, their gazes blazing with murderous intent and greed.
Nan Pingtian, who’d come here alongside Divine Venerate Eternal Sands, watched on with a mix of pity and sadistic glee. He was practically grinning ear to ear. Did you ever think this day would come, Wang Ye?
But just as the Rahu Yao Ancestor was about to capture Su Yi, a sword hum resounded beside Su Yi like an infuriated roar.
Boom!
The Sword of Proximity took to the sky, erupting with endless chaos sword qi.
A single strike was enough to send the Rahu Yao Ancestor flying back. Shockingly, the right hand he’d extended was ruined, slashed to ribbons by chaos sword qi!
The Sword of Proximity suddenly erupted with terrifying power starkly different from before!
Not even Su Yi had anticipated this development.

Gu Lingxiao is the woman in black who died at Su Yi's hands in chapter 1900. She was one of the divine children at Qi Nie's Immortal Peach Assembly.
She wasn't named until chapter 1903. That's also where the Severed Heavens Demon Master was first mentioned:
Gu Lingxiao was the woman in black who’d died a brutal death at Su Yi’s hand just now. She’d wielded the Blood-Soaked Demonic Diagram, and she had an extraordinary status. This was because she was the descendant of the Severed Heavens Demon Master.
