First Immortal of the Sword-Chapter 2053 - Bi Kongliu
Chapter 2053 - Bi Kongliu
The ship shaped like a bird in flight came to a sudden halt.
The young man in yellow seemed to have sensed something. His eyes flashed like cold lightning as he gazed at the distant Su Yi.
“Young Master, did you discover something amiss with that young man?” asked the decrepit elder in brocade.
“I just think he’s too calm,” said the young man in yellow. “You’re a god, no? What Great Realm cultivator of the River of Epochs would dare to disregard you?”
The old man in brocade was briefly startled. Then, he too looked at the young man in the distance
He had plain features and pristine, undyed robes, and he walked casually over the River of Epochs.
Even when they stared at him, the young man seemed extraordinarily calm, without the slightest panic or nervousness. No, he couldn’t even be bothered to spare them a glance.
This really was out of the ordinary.
A moment later, the old man laughed. “Young Master, perhaps his cultivation is too low, and he doesn’t realize that he’s looking at a god. After all, this world has never had any shortage of blind, ignorant fools.”
“That's simply not possible. What Great Realm cultivator capable of traversing the River of Epochs could be so foolish?” The young man’s eyes flashed. “My instincts tell me that he’s hiding something!”
The old man was stunned. His young master had a unique innate talent: He could sense many things that others couldn’t! Even gods had sighed with admiration over this ability on numerous occasions.
There was no doubt about it. The young master had sensed that something was amiss with that young man.
“A moment please, Young Master,” said the old man. Then, he called out heartily, “Hello, my friend! Please, come here for a chat!”
Su Yi sauntered leisurely over the water, hands behind his back, and said casually, “The path is big enough for all of us. I won’t interfere in your business, so you’d best not stick your nose in mine.”
The old man’s expression darkened. How could a Great Realm cultivator be so foolish? He has no idea who he’s dealing with!
He was just about to say something when the young man in yellow took a step forward and said, “Let me talk to him.”
The young man stood in Su Yi’s path and said, “I can tell from your presence and bearing that you’re far from ordinary. Our meeting was a stroke of fate. I’d love to invite you on board our ship. Might you grace us with your presence?”
He spoke with unaffected elegance.
Su Yi glanced at him and was just about to refuse when he sensed something. Suddenly, he asked, “Are you from the Bifang Divine Race?”
The old man was stunned. That young Great Realm cultivator figured out who we are?
The young man in yellow looked surprised. “I knew you weren’t simple, but I wouldn’t have guessed you’d figure that out at a glance. That’s right. We are indeed from the Bifang Divine Race. Might I ask for your honorable name and surname?”
“Shen Mu,” Su Yi said casually. “A rogue cultivator.”
“Oh,” said the young man in yellow. “Are you perhaps from the God Domain, too?”
“No, but I’ve been there before,” said Su Yi.
The young man in yellow laughed. “No wonder. We’re on our way to the Kingdom of Lasting Light. If you’d like, you’d be welcome to accompany us.”
“That works, thank you.” Su Yi nodded, and soon, he was next to the young man in yellow aboard the treasure ship, course set for the Kingdom of Lasting Light.
The young man in yellow sat at the helm of the boat and made conversation with Su Yi. He was elegant, quick-witted, and entertaining. He came across as extremely likable and trustworthy.
Su Yi, however, barely responded. How could he possibly have missed that this young man of the Bifang Divine Race was trying to probe for information?
But the calmer he was, the more inscrutable he seemed to the young man in yellow! Moreover, the young man’s instincts screamed that Su Yi wasn’t simple. This made him increasingly curious about Su Yi’s origins.
However, he could also tell that Su Yi wasn’t willing to discuss his background, so he changed the subject and asked, “Have you heard of Su Yi?”
“Mm.” Su Yi grunted noncommittally.
“Do you think he has the courage to visit the Kingdom of Lasting Light?”
“Yes,” said Su Yi. He didn’t even miss a beat.
The young man in yellow was briefly stunned. A moment later, he asked excitedly, “What makes you say that?”
Su Yi took in the rapidly approaching walls of the Kingdom of Lasting Light and said casually, “To the best of my knowledge, he’s a hospitable, friendly sort. He knows that lots of people are waiting for him in the Kingdom of Lasting Light. How could he bear to disappoint them?”
The young man in yellow had only just taken a sip of wine when he spat it back out. What kind of ridiculous reason is that?
A moment later, he laughed. “I didn’t realize you had such a sense of humor.”
Su Yi just smiled back.
The young man in yellow, meanwhile, changed the subject. “Are you here for a chance at divinity in the Path of the Ancient Gods, too?”
Su Yi instantly realized why this descendant of the Bifang Divine Race had come. So, he’s here to become a god!
“That’s right,” Su Yi said with a nod.
“I knew it!” laughed the young man in yellow. “The Path of the Ancient Gods has drawn attention from throughout the God Domain. No small number of others like us have gathered in the Kingdom of Lasting Light. All of us are in pursuit of divinity!”
He flashed Su Yi a mysterious grin. “I’m going to a grand banquet tonight. Many of our fellows from the God Domain will be there. We’re going to share information regarding the Path of the Ancient Gods. Would you care to join us?”
Su Yi had never been interested in such banquets, and he was just about to refuse when the young man in yellow continued, “The banquet is hosted by Mi Yeyun, one of the Three Purities Daoist Court’s Sons of the Dao. They say that he’s even invited one of the Nine Great Heavenly Gods!”
Something suddenly occurred to Su Yi, and he said, “Is that so? In that case, I’d love to go and see him for myself.”
He’d only just arrived here, and he didn’t understand the Kingdom of Lasting Light. He just knew that there were dark currents flowing beneath the surface here, and that they were targeting him!
It would be just wonderful if he could learn some more concrete information at the banquet.
The young man in yellow laughed heartily. “When we arrive, just come with me.”
The two of them then chatted casually about other matters. It was only after chatting for a bit that Su Yi finally learned that the young man was named Bi Kongliu. His great-grandfather was the Bifang Yao Ancestor, one of the Six Great Yao Ancestors famed throughout the God Domain!
Moreover, Bi Kongliu had come to the Kingdom of Lasting Light accompanied by two Mid-Rank Gods!
He was just a peak Great Profound Stage cultivator, yet he had two Mid-Rank Gods as escorts. It was obvious that his status within the Bifang Divine Race was by no means ordinary. free𝑤ebnovel.com
“Young Master, how could you invite a stranger of unknown origins to the banquet? Don’t you think that’s overly reckless?” transmitted the decrepit old man in brocade robes.
He could sense that Su Yi was different from other people. He might have looked unassuming, but he wasn’t the least bit afraid of Mid-Rank Gods. Any other Great Realm cultivator would have been terrified, ill at ease, and quivering uncontrollably!
“Relax. I know what I’m doing,” Bi Kongliu transmitted back. “It’s rare to meet someone my innate talent reacts to, and I’m extremely curious to learn just who he is. When the banquet begins, I’ll have another opportunity to probe for more information.”
The old man in brocade furrowed his brow and was just about to say something when Bi Kongliu transmitted, “He recognized our origins. There’s no way he’d dare to try anything!”
“Alright, it’s fine as long as you’ve got the situation under control," said the old man. He paused, then changed the subject, "In the Kingdom of Lasting Light, fish and dragons swim side-by-side. Numerous prominent factions have gotten involved.
"Some of them are intent on snuffing out the power of reincarnation. Others are after the Epoch Spark, while others are simply here for the Path of the Ancient Gods.
“But that’s just what’s visible on the surface. Who knows how many terrifying existences are watching from the shadows? Whatever you do, don’t let your guard down.”
Bi Kongliu smiled. “I know my limits. I absolutely won’t get involved in anything I shouldn’t.”
With that, he glanced imperceptibly at Su Yi, who was drinking not far away. He then teased the old man, “This is just a mysterious character we bumped into by chance. It’s not like he’s Su Yi! There’s no need for concern.”
The old man let out a self-deprecating laugh. “You’re right to chastise me, Young Master. I was overly cautious, and it made me seem petty.”
Bi Kongliu was right. They were from the God Domain’s Bifang Divine Race!
And this “Shen Mu” was just a Great Realm cultivator they’d happened upon by chance. What need was there to be on guard?
As they conversed, the treasure ship carried them to the Kingdom of Lasting Light.
Its enormous walls towered proudly, emanating the dense vicissitudes of countless years. It seemed they’d stood there forever.
The city really was like a world. Beyond its densely clustered buildings lay a seemingly endless stretch of mountains and rivers dotted with lakes.
There were even the outlines of ancient buildings visible in the distance. It was just too big. It stretched further than the eye could see.
They said that the Kingdom of Lasting Light was home to nine towering divine mountains, each imbued with Undying Materials. They existed throughout the alternations of the epochs, eternal and undying.
Each of these mountains was home to the palace of one of the Nine Great Heavenly Gods.
But even in the Kingdom of Lasting Light, most people never got the chance to lay eyes on a Heavenly God. They couldn’t even get close to the nine divine mountains; they were forbidden zones. None could enter them without permission.
It was the nine great factions led by the Nine Great Heavenly Gods that oversaw and protected the nine divine mountains.
The Kingdom of Lasting Light had no night. As the name implied, it existed in a state of perpetual daylight.
But people were accustomed to dividing time into “day” and “night” anyway. They didn’t care whether there was actually any darkness to accompany the designated “nighttime.”
Falling Cloud Lake.
The lake was a blessed ground within the Kingdom of Lasting Light. It was one of the territories under the control of Longevity Palace.
A sumptuous banquet was due to begin here tonight.
Falling Cloud Lake was extraordinarily lively, with no small number of illustrious guests from the God Domain in attendance. Some rode in on divine birds, while others were carried on lavishly decorated palanquins. From time to time, a resplendent beam of light would whoosh over from afar.
No matter their mode of transport, all of them headed straight for Falling Cloud Lake.
Numerous buildings and gardens had been built on an island at the center of the lake. This was to be the site of tonight’s banquet.
The host of this banquet was Mi Yeyun, one of the Three Purities Daoist Court’s Sons of the Dao. Those qualified to participate were all elites of the God Domain’s top factions!
That aside, Mi Yeyun had apparently even managed to invite a Heavenly God. Thus, even though the banquet had yet to begin, it had long since drawn widespread attention.
Even some gods who’d been in seclusion in the Kingdom of Lasting Light for a long, long time had emerged to watch in secret.
This was the banquet Su Yi and Bi Kongliu were on their way to attend.
