Chapter 43: Leaving

The days quickly turned into a week, and Orion enjoyed each moment of the week with both Rina and Fiora. He also went to Selene to ask questions about why he failed and what to look out for when he would form the rune next time.

And by the end of the week, Orion felt fully rejuvenated, his mana channels healed completely within a week due to the effects of that liquid. Otherwise, he would have had to wait months for them to slowly heal.

Soon, the peaceful days came to an end as the time for departure arrived. Eldric and Selene had already arranged everything, and preparations were complete for their journey to the capital.

Standing by the estate’s entrance, Orion took a deep breath, feeling a slight excitement building within him. Beside him stood Rina and Fiora, their eyes sparkling with anticipation for the journey ahead.

"Ready?" Eldric asked warmly, placing a gentle hand on Orion’s shoulder.

Orion nodded confidently, a bright smile forming on his lips. "Yes, Grandpa."

Selene gently squeezed Orion’s hand, her voice tender, "You don’t need to be nervous about the new environment. We will be going together with you."

She mistook his excitement for nervousness.

Orion chuckled and nodded his head, not wanting to elaborate on this.

At the side stood Edgar, Helena, and Lucan, ready for departure.

"Where are the rest of the maids and butlers?" Orion curiously asked, looking around. He only saw the core people of the estate.

Eldric chuckled and softly explained, "I already sent them towards the capital in advance. A caravan with some high-level guards was going, so I put them all there. They should arrive even earlier than us."

"Ah, no wonder I didn’t see the maids for the last couple of days in the mansion." Orion nodded his head.

[Were you looking for maids specifically, Master? (¬‿¬ )]

’Cough, what nonsense?’

He ignored her and looked towards the carriage that Lucan had prepared for them.

"Come, let’s go now," Eldric said and motioned for Selene to get up on the carriage before asking Orion to get up.

He nodded his head and got up on the carriage before Rina and Fiora got up as well. Selene and Edgar boarded the second carriage.

It was spacious enough inside to hold eight people comfortably. Once inside, Orion sat down on one side with Rina and Fiora sitting at both sides of him, while Eldric and Selene sat on the opposite side.

Once the carriages started moving, Selene slyly smiled and looked at the three of them, "You three seem to have gotten awfully close during this time. Is there any secret to this?"

Fiora’s face turned red while Rina turned her head to look at the outside view, leaving Orion staring at Selene with a helpless smile. "Fiora’s cookies helped us quite a bit."

"Oh? She learned how to make cookies?" Selene raised an eyebrow and looked towards Fiora’s hands. She had gotten calluses and cuts from trying to learn different things in the last few days.

Eldric smiled, "Let the young ones have their own fun. No need to meddle too much."

"Huh? I didn’t even get to talk with them properly, and you’re already interrupting me??" Selene looked at him with wide eyes, as if she couldn’t believe he had started lecturing her already.

Eldric coughed and looked outside, deciding to ignore whatever was happening.

Orion quickly changed the topic, "Grandpa, where are we heading now?"

Eldric thought for a second and replied, "We will bypass a few cities and towns before arriving at Brightgate City. It is quite an interesting city in itself. There are various races coming to trade and increase their influence."

"Ah yeah, due to the peace treaty. Looks like the races are prospering together." Orion nodded his head. He had read about the peace treaty between the various races of the Zorathal Continent due to their common enemy—Demons.

"So, how long will it take for us to reach there?" he curiously asked.

Eldric calculated with his fingers, "Hmm... if we travel while taking a few breaks, then we should reach there in about two days. Don’t worry, we will stop at Brightgate City for the night. You young ones can go around looking for stuff."

Orion smiled and nodded his head, and continued, "Why don’t you tell me some interesting stuff about that city?"

"Didn’t you read the books in the library? You should know about that place," Eldric said in confusion.

Orion rubbed the back of his head, "Haha, I was expecting some interesting things that are not written in the books."

Selene smiled and took over the conversation, "We aren’t living there long enough to know about the ins and outs of these things. You can learn more after arriving there and exploring the surroundings yourself."

Orion nodded and resigned himself to whatever comes his way.

The carriage continued to travel slowly, passing by trees and villages one after another. In a lot of villages, children seemed to run after mages who were showing their tricks. But the majority of them were nothing but low Tier 1 mages who only knew some tricks.

There were also warriors training to join the army of the kingdom, while some trained to serve the nobles or join the Adventurers Guild. ’It’s good that the common people of this world have more paths to join than just nobles or workers under merchants. The Adventurers Guild seems quite a nice place. Maybe I should visit it.’

[Master, from what I have gathered, the Adventurers Guild is one of the biggest organizations on the Zorathal Continent. They even have branches in Empires and among other races. You should really join them, since the joining requirements are lax and nearly anyone can join.]

’I’ll look into that later. Let me enjoy the view for now,’ he said before serenely looking out of the window.

[I know there are some beauties among those villages, but who exactly are you looking at, Master? (⁎˃ᴗ˂⁎)]

Orion’s lips twitched, hearing her words. He hurriedly moved his gaze away from where he was looking and looked toward the trees. ’I’m looking at the scenery, of course. What were you thinking?’

[Ehhhh, (¬‿¬ )]

’Anyways, I can’t wait to reach the capital. It’ll be so fun to learn new stuff.’ Orion smiled lightly and said, thinking about how much he would enjoy attending the academy.

[But will you attend the academy, Master? If I’m not wrong, you bunked your university quite a lot in your last life.]

Orion inwardly chuckled, ’I wouldn’t have missed a single day if they were teaching me magic in university.’

[Ehh, isn’t this your excuse, Master? (๑>؂<๑)۶]

’Where did you learn to talk so much?’ he finally couldn’t stand it and asked.

[Hehe, of course I learned it from my Dear Master. (*≧ω≦)]

’...You are irredeemable.’ He gently shook his head and looked out the window, where a few village women were pulling water from a well.

[Master, stop staring at them so much, Rina and Fiora might noti–]
