Chapter 48: Steady, Colonel! It’s Just a Casual Caress... Right?
Everyone turned their gaze toward the door of the room, where the person who had just spoken was revealed. He stood nearly two meters tall, with short, jet-black hair and deep blue eyes. His slightly bronzed skin exuded a strong masculine aura. He was no stranger to anyone in the room—he was Lan Qisheng, a man known to all present.
Even Jiang Hangyu recognized him. How could he not? This man had been hovering around Sian like a persistent fly throughout the entire live broadcast.
Song Zijian gritted his teeth in hatred as if he were grinding Sian’s bones between them. Why? Why does everyone love and defend Sian? Why is he so lucky? Why does everyone around him protect him?
Lan Qisheng entered the room, strolling forward until he reached Sian’s side. Then, he asked in a calm voice, "Are you feeling better now?"
"I’m fine."
"Good," Lan Qisheng replied.
Jiang Hangyu scoffed coldly. "Oh, Sian, you found a new target this quickly? Don’t think I didn’t notice you seducing this man for the past two days. Have you no shame, acting so disgracefully?"
He didn’t know why, but the sight of Lan Qisheng standing close to Sian, talking to him as if they were lovers, filled him with anger. Not because he loved Sian—impossible! He was simply irritated that the man who once chased him around obsessively was now pursuing someone else in the same way. Yes, that was it. He was angry because he had always been superior to others and hated sharing what was his.
Even if he didn’t love Sian, the other had pursued and adored him.
Even if he had rejected and despised him, it wasn’t this stupid soldier’s place to take the trash he had discarded. His trash. Even if he didn’t want it, he would rather have it remain at his feet.
Sian glanced at the two men standing before him, each lost in their thoughts. He could tell neither of them had anything good on their minds. But he didn’t care.
He had vowed to take revenge on both of them for the original owner of this body, though he had yet to come up with a concrete plan. There was still plenty of time. For now, Sian preferred to enjoy this world first—savour delicious food, organize his life, and then deal with the garbage.
If Jiang Hangyu—an immensely wealthy CEO, whose company ranked among the top ten with incredibly high net profits—knew that Sian saw him as nothing more than easily disposable trash, not even worth a second thought, he’d probably have a heart attack from sheer rage.
"Oh, so I was chasing after him?" Sian chuckled, feigning realization. "Then I should congratulate myself. My eyesight has improved. I must have been blind to ever admire... this."
His eyes wandered lazily over Jiang Hangyu from head to toe, his expression carrying a hint of regret and disdain as if scolding himself for ever thinking someone like this was worth his attention.
"You—you...!" Jiang Hangyu stammered, momentarily speechless.
"Brother Sian, don’t say that," a delicate voice chimed in at just the right moment. The infamous black lotus had joined the conversation, adding fuel to the fire.
"I know you’re only trying to make Jiang Gege jealous, but you shouldn’t insult him like this."
Jiang Hangyu’s eyes flickered as if he had just uncovered the truth. His lips curled into a smug smirk, though his expression remained one of disdain.
"Sian, using others to make me jealous? That’s truly low. What if that poor soldier believes you love him?"
Sian looked at the two people putting on a theatrical performance, his expression empty.
Then, he turned to Lan Qisheng, who had been silently watching him the entire time, seemingly unfazed by anything else happening in the room.
Sian found him amusing—like a loyal puppy. He had felt this way before, and now, once again. Of course, Sian wasn’t oblivious to emotions. He’s not someone with zero emotional IQ.
Even if he were, he wouldn’t be able to ignore those sharp blue eyes that had been fixed on him since the moment they boarded the helicopter. From the very beginning of the live broadcast, through their time in the forest, those eyes never left him. Lan Qisheng’s interest was far too obvious. But Sian had simply pushed the thought aside.
Well, it wasn’t as if he was bragging, but in his past world, countless people had confessed their love for him. Sian had long since accepted that he was simply too charming. Who could blame him for being so adored?
Yet, despite this, he had never fallen in love with anyone. He never sought romantic relationships. It was the cause of the nature of the world he came from. And after experiencing so much loss—his family, his friends, the people he had once held dear—he could no longer allow himself to love. He wasn’t sure if he could survive another loss.
That fear had made him lock his heart away.
But now...
It didn’t seem like such a bad idea.
Sian wanted to enjoy a beautiful life, and as a man, he couldn’t deny his own needs. Getting into a relationship doesn’t sound so bad. As for love? That could be discussed later. After all, if he liked someone’s body and personality, wasn’t that a kind of love, too?
Sian’s gaze settled on Lan Qisheng, who was still watching him in silence. But those blue eyes were heavy with emotions—words left unsaid yet clearly conveyed.
Suddenly, Sian reached out, his fingers brushing against Lan Qisheng’s dark locks that had fallen over his face, partially covering his eyes. Then, those same delicate fingers trailed over his features.
Lan Qisheng had come here to check on Sian, to tell him that his grandfather had handled everything and that there was no need to worry. Yet, upon arrival, he found the room filled with people. Those who had been in the forest with them stood aside, watching Sian converse with a man who bore a slight resemblance to him, and another dressed in a business suit, radiating the aura of a wealthy CEO.
Lan Qisheng didn’t understand much of the situation, but when he heard that man threaten to make Sian beg on the streets, he couldn’t stand idly by. However, he knew that Sian wasn’t the type to hide behind others, so he merely stood silently beside him.
He had listened to everything but didn’t react much—because he knew Sian’s character. He wasn’t foolish enough to believe the words of someone speaking ill of his beloved. Of course, Lan Qisheng was already thinking of a thousand ways to make them suffer. Even if Sian was strong and capable, he still needed to act like a man responsible for his beloved—protecting him from the shadows.
His mind raced with merciless ideas, but suddenly, Sian’s golden eyes locked onto his, and in that instant, his heart skipped a beat.
All thoughts of revenge vanished.
Breathing became difficult when he realized those amber eyes contained only his reflection.
Satisfaction swelled in his chest. He wanted Sian’s gaze to hold nothing but his image. Only him.
His pulse had barely steadied when Sian reached out, gently pushing his hair back, revealing his eyes fully. That same gaze—warm, luminous—never wavered.
Colonel Lan clenched his fist tightly, his nails digging into his palm.
But he didn’t move.
He allowed Sian’s fingers to roam freely across his face.
Perhaps Sian had forgotten himself, or maybe he simply liked the sensation. It seemed that Lan Qisheng’s mixed heritage features had captivated him.
Sian’s fingers traced along his brow, his lashes, his cheeks...
Lan Qisheng didn’t blink once.
It was only a few seconds.
But for the poor colonel, it felt like an eternity.
When Sian’s slender fingers finally reached his lips, Lan Qisheng lifted his hands and caught hold of that mischievous, wandering hand.
